This is good news but do be aware that DCR is converted to BTC upon deposit... so ShapeShift's BTC/Decred exchange rate does play into how much your actually loading onto the card.

I'm sure lots of people wish to sit in time machine and travel 1.5 years back to set up nice Radeon 390 or Nano farm to dualmine ETH and DCR

No, you won't make shit for a very long time if you solo mine with 1x 1080.
For the record,
Made 3DCR over... 6 weeks? mining 70% of the time.
Of course you made some, but the important question is how does this compare to mining another coin, or even a more profitable algo on nicehash and using the profits to buy dcr.
My guess is it would be better

I really don't understand how people are still managing to overlook this coin. It's becoming what Bitcoin was originally meant to be, yet it's market cap is less than 150 million? I find that absolutely insane.
As soon as DCR starts being accepted by vendors this thing will skyrocket. I should probably learn how to join a voting pool at some point so I can start earning PoS rewards.

DCR is too technical to understand for lot of people. It is so under the radar. The price now is ridiculously low. Should have been atleast $200+ based on its competitors such as Dash and Zcash
The other two coins are PoW only. I think PoS part reduce the price potential.

Simplifying, in decred the blocks are mined through POW and confirmed through POW + POS.
Making it much safer than using only one kind of mining
The blocks and the prize are the same as if they were mined only through POW, the difference in Decred is that the prize is divided between the POW miners, the stake holders who make the POS and the funding of the decentralized autonomous organization.
Decred doesn't work like the other POS coins that have specific blocks for this mining. The blocks are the same as the POW.

Solo mining is only possible by wallet without gui and you need to leave your wallet open 24/7. If the connection drops or latency high, you will have missed tickets.

You don't need a pool, you can solo stake. In fact it's more profitable cause the fees are lower, though now that fees are so low again it's not important.
What the pool offers is the ability to stake without your wallet running
