You have a good explanation on how PPLNS is implemented here: http://pool-x.eu/aboutpplns .

Here is my own p2pool server: next.afraid.org:8119  Stratum is enabled, the payout use a PPLNS scheme, and will be operational day and night - Fast and reliable...

I will switch pools to that and see if my payments increase. One question though, when I visit your site to see its stats, at the bottom it has a table that says IF A BLOCK WERE FOUND NOW. Are those all of the current active miners?

The statement: 'Payouts if a block were found NOW' is the payout as it will be embedded in the current mined block. Once the payout is computed this information is updated, and once the mined block is found, it will appear in your wallet as is.

OK. So as long as I am mining on that pool, my address should be up there?

As long as you are mining at the pool, you will be there on the following page: http://next.afraid.org:8119/static/graphs.html?Day

The advantage of a p2pool, you will get the block as soon as, it is mined, and you can check also with the block explorer using the transaction code. The explorer is not referenced internally on  next.afraid.org:8119 , but it will be on the next restart.

Can you see what is going on with my case? I am minning for about 2 hours now and i just received 4 * 0,05 rewards...

I am pumping 540kh/s my address is DKrR7KdiqsZ1R3WpPhj82JhrkDgnK8t7Dx

If everything is fine, the payout has to be in that case around 0.36496 per block; Now is it increasing , but the pool don't see all the hashrate. If you are using cgminer, it is important to add options: -s 1 –queue 0, this will improve the efficiency and reduce the dead of arrival.

Cryptcoins.net has a digital coin pool now, http://digi.cryptcoins.net

It seems there is a large backlog of unpaid shares.  I have been mining there for about 3 hours and have only recently started getting paid for shares.  However, those payments are only for recent blocks, and not for blocks that the pool found during the first couple of hours that I was mining here.  Can you take a look at this?

Thanks.

The hash power is reacting to market demand. That's a good sign.

Please note: I am beginning data collection for anaylsis. I would like to compare the actual network's results to the test net. Pool owners, please message me the details of how your pool is functioning(the more numbers you can provide the better).

Users, please message me any information you think is important to the network status.

Thank you.

If you join a PPLNS pool, wait a few hours before posting it's not working. Thank you.

I waited overnight, thank you.

Would it be a better option to use these p2pools instead of the PPLNS pools? I'm barely getting payouts and i'm hashing on a PPLNS pool at 155 kh/s.

It could be (I run one of the PPLNS pools btw).  Keep in mind though pplns takes a bit of time to ramp up payouts. The whole point of it is to prevent hopping in and out of the pool by rewarding over a longer period.

The main benefit as I see it though, is stratum support.  But if thats not of much concern to you, at the very least a p2pool will give you more immediate feedback on your coin generation.  Good luck either way.

If I understand correctly, my share price slowly increases as I mine on the pool? So basically we get cheated out in the beginning, but the longer we mine, the higher reward we get? I'm not a fan of that.

Here is my understanding of p2pool.
Proportional payout, and payout only when a block is found. Correct? Also isn't the payout instant?
One thing I have noticed on p2pool is that I barely get any shares on it when compared to PPLNS pools. Is this normal? Also, is it normal for the pool to request work restarts VERY often? Please correct my understanding of p2pool if it is incorrect.

No you don't get cheated out.  You are right, that you get less payout, than you deserve in the beginning. But therefore you still get payouts hours after you stopped mining.

crypto-coins.de:8907 finds blocks very regular at the moment and runs very smooth... So you are invited to try

DGC seems a good launch to me.

I have setup a p2pool node where you can mine:
  • Dedicated server
  • Located in France
  • 100 mbits connection
  • PPLNS 2% fee
  • Custom css/jquery interface

Interface : http://pool.bounceme.net:24397
Cgminer : cgminer --scrypt -o http://pool.bounceme.net:24397 -u [your_address] -p x -Q 0

I am currently mining on it at 6MH/s, come and join me !

Just updated my pool to use the DGC block explorer.

added a payout tally @ http://dgc.scryptmining.com that displays a running tally of how many DGC the pool has paid out to date.  As noted, this number is only what has left the site's wallet, and doesn't account for any balances that remain in people's accounts currently on the site.

Edit:  This comes directly from the blockexplorer (ie: external to the pool), with no reliance on pool related software to grab its number.

Can you provide me with a total coins mined at the pool number?

Thank you.

That's right, your address will appear quickly after a few rounds, and it will be there. However, the software adjust the payout, you may have more for a few blocks, zero, for the the following block etc... The payout is computed and adjusted by the software.
