I find it slightly distasteful, but it does add legitimacy to the enterprise somewhat. The #1 world's reserve currency is also the #1 currency used for gambling (US Dollar).

The beauty and danger of crypto-currency in general is that it's free-market based. Everyone can create/do what they want and accept earthcoin for it, it is up for the Individual to make 'big-boy' decisions regarding their EarthCoin holdings and how they utilize/ distribute them.

So I guess I would tell people if you don't like gambling, then don't gamble. But the entrepreneur who created the medium HAS to be allowed to do so, as long as the gambling site is clear and open about their 'fees' or 'house advantage' I say go for it. But a simple 'Coin-Flip' game does not do much for me. I prefer No-Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi-Lo and such.

Once someone comes out with No-Limit Hold'em or more legit card and casino games taking Earthcoin, I will play myself just for the 'entertainment' value.

And also, while I'm posting, I can see the merits behind the bemoaning the lack of dev's involvement the past few weeks, and I can also understand the dev's deciding not to 'baby' us along with relatively mundane announcements on the daily.

So let's meet somewhere in the middle. I think that the Dev's need to provide some clarity for the Earthcoin Mobile Wallet for Android & iOS. I am no programmer but I have seen far lesser cryptos in my opinion pop out working wallets and I think we need that crucial step for legitimacy. (And I want to do transactions easily from my App on my nexus 5 while out and about, and not have to fool with cryptsy's mobile platform which is much harder IMO)

So get that done, release the positive news, and I can guarantee we will see Earthcoin hop up past 20 Satoshi(Am I using this right?) in no time.

From the Dev's perspective, I can see that they feel it is counter productive to spend too much of their valuable time by consoling those who are down from their buy prices and are reaching panic levels. Always have more BTC/ Cash on sidelines to 'scale in' as Earthcoin sells off during times of slow periods. Then you get a good average price and the next 50% increase you will be very happy with your position. If you are feeling things are getting too 'frothy' or smell 'irrational exuberance' in the air, then sell 10-30% of your holdings and wait and see if it crashes. If it does you can buy more. If it doesn't crash, but shows continued strength, you can always buy back in. Having flexibility with your holdings is clutch for trading and investing in cryptos IMO.

Also Remember to come up with a plan or strategy that helps you take all the human emotion out of your investments. You need to look at investing in Earthcoin as a 'long-term' plan and be able to stomach the sickening gyrations in 'spot' trading price. Buy in regular intervals, on sell-offs, when it's down 20% or higher on the day, etc., and protect yourself from the panic of buying all in one fell swoop at the wrong time.

I still strongly believe in the peoples currency, and I will be remembered as a founding member by essentially 'backing' Earthcoin with physical Gold & Silver. I am in the process of exchanging 25 Silver Coins for crypto-currency as we speak. I am confident in doing so because I know for a FACT my upside in Earthcoin is likely 10X what it is in silver. And I think silver is a great investment at the current time as well. I am offering this service so people who are feeling they are too heavily allocated in crypto-currency can exchange it for physical silver & gold to diversify their risk. Diversification is important to minimize the risk of your holdings.

So I will end by recommending all take a deep-breath, relax and try to think long-term. See if you can come up with more money to buy Earthcoin at this current price. Plan on having more 'dry powder' to buy even more Earthcoin if it goes down to less than 10 satoshi again. I am thrilled for the price to stay low, and to go lower, and stay there for as long as possible. The more time I have to accumulate this 6 week old 'venture capital' type of investment, the more wealth I will have 2-3 Years down the road. Plus a low price is great for long-term holders because it tends to shake out the weak hands, and transfer the current float of Earthcoins from the panicked, short-term speculator, to the patient, long-term 'Investor'. Then when truly Earth-shaking news breaks, the panicked will rush back in and the long-term will still not be selling. And that is when you will see this price really start to get interesting.

I also think that gambling should not be part of Earthcoin branding but everyone should be free to choose how to use coins. If someone likes gambling then it's fine by me. More services around the coin is always welcome.

Chances are great you are not the only one who thinks so. I really would love to bet my earthcoins on that.

If you do have a connection to the network (the bars in the right lower corner) you might want to try the -rescan option. Someone on the eartcointalk forum had an issue where he was connected and did not synch either.

Thank you for clearing that up. I really like the way you defend the technical nature of crypto's. What I don't understand is why VertCoin will be the only one using that technology in let's say a 6 months from now. It might be that another technology came to surface by then. So by your argument we will then just shift money from 1 technology to another. But in your argument, what is your solution to get crypto currencies to ordenary use? And how can you convince any person/merchant or charity to adopt that currency?

What commercial aspect? You mean to tell me that charity charity charity is being commercial? Charities that no one pays attention to? Besides who do you think is in crypto currencies right now? I guarantee you it is mostly comprised of base level tech savvy people. NOT the less privileged chimpanzees in the zoos or the endangered Tyrannosaurus-pitbulls that you seem to be lobbying for. We should gear efforts towards where the money is.

For Christ's sakes it is called crypto-currency not E-money which means that there has to be a technologically astute factor to why this is better than just paypal or Western union. So in essence, yes. If we can't capitalise on the technological audience before trying to reach Mufasa in the Savannah then we might as well admit defeat instead of becoming another Occupy wall street band of hippie dippie morons.

Just to be sure I understand you correctly. If I understand you correctly, you say that technology will prevail over any commercial aspect?

I honestly feel like people are glossing over the stagnation of this coin and chucking it under "long term investment". This is a crypto currency and as such should be rising not boomeranging to its starting point. Hoping for that 1000% increase is simply wishing upon a meteor or a pumping whale in this case.

We are focusing on cuddling Jaguars instead of thinking like business men and MARKETING ourselves as a viable crypto currency alternative. Go back and read the progress report the dev put out. It was all about things that happened LAST MONTH and nothing of recent only the same rhetoric of "secret project in the works" like this is some school yard gossip. No one is going to steal the idea because there is no interest and frankly the whole "long term investment" motto is getting old. Long term investment until we start struggling to compete with 3rd gen crypto currencies?

Do you think vert coin has not changed the game? that is a 2nd gen crypto that has taken its spot as one of the top contenders in crypto. At the end of the day, I know this is all going to fall on complacent ears and I'm going to get a whole lot of "what have you done for EAC" fanatic rhetoric and I welcome it.
