We are happy to announce the Earthcoin pin has gone into production. Will be here shortly.

That looks great!

We are also happy to announce a few things.

1. EarthCoin Foundation beta :: http://www.earthcoin.biz/eac_foundation.html

2. You'll notice a few updates to the websites navigation et al.

3. Our Client version 1.1 has been released ::

Client: http://www.earthcoin.biz/earthcoin11.zip
Source: https://github.com/earthcoinproject/earthcoin

* More recent checkpoints have been added, thus making the coin more secure, and we've made a few misc small improvements.

* It is NOT mandatory to upgrade, however we still do recommend that you do.

* This means we'll need new Linux and Mac clients(< Both maverick and older versoins, two separate downloads is fine, we're alienating a few users I want to ensure all can use our wallets). Bounty's will be given out - would prefer to have the same crew that did the first batch to ensure continuity in builds.

Lot's going on - will check back in a bit Smiley

Things are happening fast Smiley I will check out the new client tomorrow, zzz

I know that Earthcoin does not really advertise like its some energy conscious/green living currency, but its not a bad angle to advertise from due to how "low energy usage" conscious people are becoming. So if it was possible to modify Earthcoin in to using Scrypt-Jane, then we all could cut down on our energy usage, as one of my rigs uses about 700w when on Scrypt, and 540w on Scrypt-Jane. you'd also be resistant to the Scrypt-ASICs that should be showing up later this year.

I've also been wondering what that would mean to a currency, good or bad? From a hobbyist miner's perspective, it would be awesome if all new coins would be scrypt-jane because then even with 1 gpu I can mine some coins when the difficulty is not too high yet. When the scrypt asics are released to the public, only the already wealthy investors can mine standard scrypt coins at release. But for an already established coin where gpu mining barely pays for the electricity? Dunno..

If it is possible it would be nothing but beneficial. Are any of you at earthcointalk? I am going to bed now, but I'll make a post about scrypt-jane tomorrow unless one you guys does it tonight

If we could make EAC resistant to Scrypt-ASICs it would surely help keeping EAC as alternative for the people. Can it be done?

Already started my friend.  I have received responses back from a few charitable organizations.  After some discussion I believe you will see their logo on the home page. Wink  Watch tomorrow.  EarthCoin is real boys, but only as real as the people behind it.  Get behind it.

that is GREAT to hear!!!!

What types of commerce sites could we target, first, for payment acceptance?

books, toys, everyday items, etc.?

Non-profit donation acceptance, maybe :-)

Get greenpeace to accept earthcoins as donation, work on multiple ways for the average joe to gain some eac's, pay for facebook and twitter reply's.
Run some adwords / reddit / FB ads targeting people with real interest in helping nature.

2 main points:
1. get green industries and non-profits to consider this coin
2. improve accessibility and obtainability of the coin.

... and the coin is settled :-)

Also start blogging about green stuff, not just tech stuff :-)

just my 2 satoshi's :-)

One thing I've been wondering about is why everyone seems to think Earthcoin is trying to be 'green' and promote the environment and clean living etc

Has the Earthcoin team ever actually claimed this? All I see in their advertising is that it's the coin for the people....of Earth.

No, I don't think they ever made any such claims. But considering the "Earth" brand and the fact that the green/environmental movement would be the obvious choice for adoption, I think it would be a mistake to not explore that angle.

that's exactly what I just wanted to say....

and if proof of stake is not a huge coding nightmare, I'd at least announce that it's coming...

Hi fellow earthcoiners,

Since we agreed to merge the EU forums with bitcointalk.org i have modified the site "earthcoin.eu" to be more of a collector of useful news and threads
that might interest the earthcoin community. I have just grabbed a few things from facebook, bitcointalk and earthcointalk for now.
But I need your help to gather information to be able to keep up with everything that´s happening around earthcoin right now.

There´s a "news tip" link where you can send me stuff to put up there and hopefully i´ll be able to get it online within a couple of hours at least.

The site should also be pretty scalable if you want to use mobile, tablets or whatever.

So head on over to www.earthcoin.eu and check it out and you can also use the news tip link to send feedback if you want  Wink

Thank you all so much for the nice comments about www.earthcoin.eu and especially for all your donations!

I will in my turn use them as giveaway in the future to get more people to use www.earthcoin.eu  AND to get people to register @ www.earthcointalk.org .

Thanks again!

A good way to promote EAC:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coin-payments-coin-vote-397540

Don't let them choose Lottocoin (in the lead now).

Nice, thanks for the link.  These forums are hard to dig through sometimes.
