These full page pool ads are definitely the most annoying thing in this thread. Please stop.

One thing I've been wondering about is why everyone seems to think Earthcoin is trying to be 'green' and promote the environment and clean living etc

Has the Earthcoin team ever actually claimed this? All I see in their advertising is that it's the coin for the people....of Earth.

A good way to promote EAC:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coin-payments-coin-vote-397540

Don't let them choose Lottocoin (in the lead now).

Quick Start

Start with registering on our pool & creating workers for your computers. You can use our automated config generator in our workers page and download pre-configured files for your mining software.

EU Stratum Server: stratum+tcp://eu.coinum.org:3335
US Stratum Server: stratum+tcp://us.coinum.org:3335

CGMiner Configuration

Here is sample CGMiner configurations with fail-over support. Given that the stratum server you use fails, your miner software will continue to work with out other stratum server.
Note: You have to change WORKER and PASS with your actual worker-name and worker-password values you get from workers page.

EU
Code:
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://eu.coinium.org:3335 -u WORKER -p PASS --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://us.coinium.org:3335 -u WORKER -p PASS --scrypt -I 13

US
Code:
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://us.coinium.org:3335 -u WORKER -p PASS --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://eu.coinium.org:3335 -u WORKER -p PASS --scrypt -I 13

  • Our network - We already operate first class & high performance pools, check our other pools over http://www.coinium.org
  • %0 fee - Our network have no fees! We just kindly ask you to donate if you like to.
  • Stratum servers - We have stratum servers in Europe and United States. Right now we have a total of 4 servers (2 stratum server, 1 webserver and 1 database server) and we are quickly upgrading & adding new servers to stack when we need to.
  • Fail-over config support - In case that the stratum server you use fails, your miner will just continue to mine with our secondary stratum server.
  • VARDIFF enabled - Our stratum servers will shift your work difficulty based on your hash-rate automatically.
  • DDOS Protected - Our servers are DDOS protected 7x24!
  • Automated backups - We get automated backups of our system.
  • Automatic payments - You can set automatic payments if you like to.
  • Fast confirmations - We are quickly processing your transactions once newly found blocks are confirmed.
  • Automatic config generator - Check our workers page to automatically download a generated configuration file for your workers with fail-over support!
  • Continous support - We are eager to help our users! You can ask for support in our forum topic.
  • IRC support - We have operators in our IRC channel and you can chit-chat about mining too.
  • Mobile friendly - We have mobile friendly user interface so you can check your miner's status from your mobile devices
  • Contests - We are regularly creating contests and giving bonus coins to our miners!

I think especially non-profits would be a great idea...

they should not really care which way they get money, as long as they get any... if we could get greenpeace or the world wildlife fund or something similar to accept EAC, it'd be great for them and us

maybe someone official could make an official offer to those organizations!

one headline that any well known organization takes EAC would give EAC insane traction

maybe add a donation in EAC to the suggestion that they take EAC... could help

testbitcoiner why do you feel the need to bold almost every post?

Are the things you're saying somehow more important than what other people are saying?

I don't make every post bold, but tbh, I can just better read bold stuff cause I have a pretty high resolution screen and my eyes suck

Is it even possible to switch from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake?  I mean, it is still a new coin but I don't know about the technical limitations of making such a drastic core change.  However, that would make the coin "green" and reduce all the early dumping by miners.

I've been wondering that too, since it would certainly help the green angle.

I'm not a coder. Is that even possible?

I haven't the faintest clue about programming, but I think I have read that you can patch pretty much anything into a coin as long as people download the new qt for it...

but I might have misunderstood or the source was wrong...

but tbh, proof of work only has always bothered me with EAC, as it has this green angle and proof of stake is much better when it comes to talking points

About the Cryptsy thing, I read this that could explain why EAC is not on C yet: http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/1ujgm4/coinye_west_the_brainchild_of_bigvern_of_cryptsy/
BigVern has been silent on twitter for 9 days now, if Coinye West is really his coin, I guess he just doesn't care about a small  coin atm, and prefers spend all his time on his coin.

What types of commerce sites could we target, first, for payment acceptance?

books, toys, everyday items, etc.?

Non-profit donation acceptance, maybe :-)

Get greenpeace to accept earthcoins as donation, work on multiple ways for the average joe to gain some eac's, pay for facebook and twitter reply's.
Run some adwords / reddit / FB ads targeting people with real interest in helping nature.

2 main points:
1. get green industries and non-profits to consider this coin
2. improve accessibility and obtainability of the coin.

... and the coin is settled :-)

Also start blogging about green stuff, not just tech stuff :-)

just my 2 satoshi's :-)

I see, that's why nobody cared about BTC-8.  VERY low volume site.
hm.
at least a little bit reputation for eac.

srsly, i begin to trust in this whole eac system, even if last week the "scam-news" were louder than anything else....

eac starts slow but steady...

Hi fellow earthcoiners,

Since we agreed to merge the EU forums with bitcointalk.org i have modified the site "earthcoin.eu" to be more of a collector of useful news and threads
that might interest the earthcoin community. I have just grabbed a few things from facebook, bitcointalk and earthcointalk for now.
But I need your help to gather information to be able to keep up with everything that´s happening around earthcoin right now.

There´s a "news tip" link where you can send me stuff to put up there and hopefully i´ll be able to get it online within a couple of hours at least.

The site should also be pretty scalable if you want to use mobile, tablets or whatever.

So head on over to www.earthcoin.eu and check it out and you can also use the news tip link to send feedback if you want  Wink

Hi Roboseal,

Just in case you are wondering why you received 777 EAC. It's from me for your great help to the Earthcoin community. Thank you!

You made my day!

Really like the name of this crypto tbh, sadly it's been introduced in an overinflated market with not much trust for new releases (not many adopters regardless of that anyway)

Best of luck to EarthCoin!
