Anybody have idea whats the next plan of OP ? I just bought some huge amount of EGC , hope it doesn't go as a waste . Democracy always catches my eyes , hope I dint do wrong . Any suggestions ? whether I have to buy more or start selling ? I bought coins at 800 sats, which I consider very cheap. Smiley Smiley Smiley
lol , very stupid decision,
I follow you , and now the loss of 130 %, cute lose Grin

Hi all and sorry for the late reply, but I had a rough week.

We had a balloon, up until ~170 meters, as the atmospheric pressure didn't helped us to reach higher altitudes, so we had a floater.

We did however captured the balloon and the whole setup, after  40 minutes of chase.  It had a rough landing on a pond, then the pond grass, then a wheat field, then it bumped into a wire fence, then it took another hit ( eaves).
The good thing is that after a good run in the mud, we did catch   it, the cameras are ok, and we have a few funny moments of the whole thing getting hit after hit:).

It was a 250 Euro flight, as we had to release the helium. We had only a specific  timeframe to release it,  in order to comply with local regulations, but we are not giving up. We will have another flight, in June, on good conditions: temp, wind, atmospheric pressure .
I will soon release the footage as well.

As this is a first flight, there are a lot to learn from it, and I will surely launch the EGC up in the skies.

Keep in touch,

Hahaha!
I imagine this scene with Benny Hill music Cheesy

Keep at it... it will get up

As much as I admire the weather balloon initiative, there's still one thing that I don't get.
What role is shuttlecoin playing in this story?

we use EverGreenCoin, the shuttlecoin is a part of another personal project, live on cryptospaceinitiative.org

This is a bummer, yes.  Sad

We can be certain Gabi will not give up. We know that already. Surly the rain water weighted down the balloon and attached equipment.

Whatever modifications might be necessary will be made and another launch will be scheduled. Hopefully on a sunny day. Wink

It's a shame Gabi didn't talk to the ballooning community more, I suspect the issue with that was lack of enough gas. Rain might have slowed it a bit but it should have still gone up at a decent rate with the right amount of gas.

My suspicion is that he bought a balloon and some gas and just emptied the cylinder of gas into the balloon and hoped for the best. Instead there are tools out there that will tell you how much gas is needed for a given balloon and payload mass. Without using those tools the predictions are fairly meaningless as well (they're only good if you put the right data in).

It would be interesting to know from Gabi what balloon he was using, what the payload+parachute+cord etc weight was, and how much gas was put into the balloon. With the right options 30km is easy (a balloon in the UK with Pi Zero made it to almost 42km yesterday and sent back some stunning live images during the flight)

I can not speak for Gabi but, I think his calculations for how much gas he needed were calculated using tools and not just a wild guess. Of course, I doubt rain water was in these calculations.

I will ask Gabi himself to visit the thread and address your inquiries. Sorry but, I do not know these answers. Yes, that image is very stunning! Thank you for sharing it.

I am really disappointed from you this time. You changed the date of the flight 2 times and now the 3rd time rain was the problem? You could look at the weather before the flight, problems like that could be calculated...
And I really thought the ballon looks a bit more impressive..
I don´t see a EGC logo or something special

There is nothing to be disappointed in US for, certainly not me. Mind you, I am over 5000 miles away in Ohio. Gabi made every effort and will continue to do so. The strato balloon is a project of IasinSpace's. EGC is just fortunate enough to be going along for the ride.

Dates got changed because they needed to, not because Gabi or anyone wanted to. The weather predicted a slight chance for rain for today. Having had to reschedule twice, yes once for rain already, I imagine Gabi felt confident enough to try. We all know weather predictions are not always perfect.

The EGC logo is on the spacebox that hangs from the balloon. Visible from the in-flight camera and not visible in in the facebook video. I can not imagine the cost to get any logo on the balloon itself or what process could be used to do so and leave the balloon intact to the standards in needs to be.

We are all disappointed with today's outcome. That does not mean any on is giving up on the strato project. Please do not yourself because it will be happening. I thank you for understand some things are out of our control but we will persist.

Next time better, right? There's plenty of knowledge surrounding the project to make it succeed imo.
I mean, apart from the biker club, I see a lot of students and teachers at the launch.
Meanwhile EGC is as cheap as it can get and it seems that the problems with the fork have disappeared.
So I'll hodl patiently and wait for the solar miner to be launched in a few months.

Failure is prerequisite to success they say. I am sure Gabi learned much from today's lesson.

He did have a bigger event originally planned. I imagine the rescheduling and weather held many participants back.

An announcement was posted on facebook in regards to the balloon launch. Here it is translated from Romanian. It looks like the translation is not perfect but, I think we all can understand:

Quote from: IasinSpace fb post
Our balloon didn't want to get into the stratosphere today and from this experience I learned that the weather should be perfect for that flight be smooth
The best part is that I've recovered and that we can fill it with helium, when the sun will shine in the sky beautiful and atmospheric pressure will only be good for him.
This probably means doing something for the first time in iasi. Because no matter how many videos I watched and no matter how many articles I read about people's experience in the us and other countries, the situation is changing from one country to another.
The moment he really gets into the stratosphere, we document all this experience because people are going to repeat what she had at least a starting point.
Thank you all because you were at the airport, because we've encouraged and applauded the launch, even if it wasn't exactly what we wanted.
That being said, keep you posted about the next test. In the end, all we reach over 30 miles.

Thank you for holding and realizing some things are out of our control.

Hi!
What nodes have the correct blockchain?

Please use the seednodes listed in the OP,

seed.evergreencoin.org
seed2.evergreencoin.org
egc-seed1.granitecoin.com
egc-seed2.granitecoin.com
egc-seed3.granitecoin.com
egc-seed4.granitecoin.com
egc-seed5.granitecoin.com

You may also wish to clone the latest source, https://github.com/EverGreenCoinDev/EverGreenCoin , as it has these seednodes built in and additional checkpoints added.

Sorry for the slow response, I am away from my desk with personal matters. I hope these seednodes are sufficient, let me know if they are not.

EDIT: Thank you for your time and attention on this AikaPool.

Gabi is attempting the launch despite the rain! However, and unfortunately, it does not look to be going to his plan as the balloon does not appear to have enough lift.

nice attempt gabi you will have a successful flight. looks like the whether was to bad but despite that you took a risk and instead of putting it off again you tried anyway hats off to you my friend when you do get one up there it will be spectacular.
