What would be awesome is if once we have the funding options narrowed down we contact the nominees and let them know they are being considered. Then we ask them to write something explaining why their project will change the world in layman's terms. Then we vote a final time after reading.

Guys we still need nominees for our first donation? Anyone know of any good kids science related charities that could use some extra cash?

I do not know of any charities but here are but a few interesting developments that may be worth noting:

(Perhaps finding a university researching some of these areas could be supported directly?)

I have no vested interests in any of the above, but I'm always reading up on this sort of stuff in my spare time.

The use of solar power to hydrolyze water sounds really interesting.  The waste from producing electricity would be water........

I have been thinking about this idea for years but calculations told me that geothermal  energy is the only way to get away with this like iceland.  But there is certain type of algae that can produce hydrogen and according to wikipedia if we use around 20% of space used to cultivate corn for these algae in the US  , we can displace around 50% of fossil fuel consumption.
The other issue is to transport the volatile hydrogen but there is an indian girl that patented a way to make it less volatile, transport it and then refine it at large facilities.
.

For me energy is at the ocean, if we can tap one marine current, use it to produce electricity then electrolysis for hydrogen, make it not volatile with the special process of indian girl, transport it in ships to refining facilities at ground etc.  Since the hydrogen volatility decreases with the special process we can even use the existent oleo duct technology. I Also think tapping geothermal energy in the ocean for electrolysis is viable.

not sure how this can help but just want to spread the knowledge....

Thanks, I have not seen the info on the Hydrogen transport process going to check it out.

Do you happen to know of any Russian science projects that are in need of funding?

Re-wiring Mr.Putins' brain?

It would be great! Grin I would put all the money in the development of such projects Grin We all tired of our "king"

LOL, I doubt trillions of dollars in scientific funding would accomplish that mission.  Grin
