Slightly concerned I may have fucked something up.

I pointed a big ass rig at it and now the mining pool is throwing some serious skitzo shit.

Edit:  Actually looking ok now. Shit just kinda freaked out for a second.

All is good

"Login to Florincoin Wallet"
not work??
"+ Create New Address"
not work??

you'll need the florincoin wallet installed, you'll need a florincoin.conf file in your florincoin folder (on mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Florincoin/) with the following content:

rpcuser=fill-in-a-username
rpcpassword=fill-in-a-password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.*.*
rpcport=18322
server=1
daemon=1
txindex=1

please note: if you make this file with text-edit (on mac) it may try to make the filename florincoin.conf.txt - that won't work.

Anyway, once you have that set up, open and sync your wallet and then your Alexandria browser will let you log into your wallet and create new addresses (and send Tips over FLO that include comments, and use the trade-bot (the "buy more" button in the wallet))

Hi Florincoin fans! If you'd like to check out Alexandria for yourself, you can now download an alpha build of the browser here: http://gateway.ipfs.io/ipfs/QmWQCM7jewQFRCC5is8sau6My9RY1ctY9vyeyZEhQckkLo

With it, you'll be able to explore the contents of the library, enjoy embedded content and send tips to publishers with Bitcoin! Just pick the appropriate build for your OS, right click and save-as to download it, unzip it, and open to enjoy the contents of the Decentralized Library of Alexandria.

Please note: VLC plugin is built into OSX client, but Windows and Linux users will need to install VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) on their computers before being able to enjoy streaming video or audio. This will be built into the browser for Win & Linux soon.

We want your feedback! Got bug reports? Feature requests? Helpful suggestions? Please visit our Github Issues page (https://github.com/dloa/alexandria-docs/issues) to submit them. Alexandria's known issues and version history can be found here: https://github.com/dloa/alexandria-docs/blob/master/version-notes-and-issues.md.

http://gateway.ipfs.io/ipfs/QmTAW3V9sZnodwWu17GPTvMkeXoRSt6CzGtgyUBHX2bDxk/alexandria_beta_install_instructions.png

If you'd like to send comments with your tips, or trade some BTC for FLO through Alexandria's tradebot, you'll also need to install a Florincoin wallet. Links to download and install the wallet client for your OS can be found at www.florincoin.org.

To publish artifacts to the library or to use Alexandria in a completely "serverless" way, you'll need to install some additional daemons and to do so, you'll need to join our alpha - just send metacoin or myself a PM to get an invite.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and if you're interested in learning about how you can support Alexandria's continued development, please visit www.blocktech.com

"And it's a fact that FLO has been the subject of a 1000% Pump..."

A pump with no dump is no pump.  It's called an investment.  I've never sold 1 coin, not one.  Long term = accumulate.

FYI: the entire visible Cryptsy sell book is 700618.13610934

Full DMCA and government compliance is inconsistent with "no one can censor them"...
And the entire project comes to a dead stop upon legal action against the Devon Read group...
So, at best, you have obscure "long tail" content that hardly anyone is looking for... no Top 1000 torrents.

Because the lawsuits against bittorrent are going sooo well. Huh

FLO is not integral to Alexandria... it can be replaced at any time with an anon coin or Gen 2.0 crypto-currency...
The 528 char tx payload is dwarfed by, for example, NXT pruneable tx storage and whatever else is out there in 2015...
In fact, the claim "cannot be taken down" is absurd if the system runs on a circa 2013 coin.

I was just pointing out some wild inconsistencies in Alexandria info... when everybody got hysterical and lost their cookies.

Regardless, there are variations of this project that may work very well long term (as explained above)...
But there is no way to invest directly in the project... therefore FLO = 1000% pump or a ultra-high risk speculation.

Today I got a positive response from both Bittrex and Poloniex about the public API project.

Also, the Dev appears to be asking for donations to build this thing...
Should this project not be structured as an investment in some way?

It's possible that some people may think pay-as-you-go for "long tail" torrent content is a good long-term investment...
So why have you structured this as a "charity" with your group as the beneficiary? Or is it all an elaborate pump for FLO?

We're asking for donations because it isn't ready to be pitched as an investment at the moment. We are working on some things that we believe may make it an investable thing, and if we do, we'll let users who have donated know that they are eligible for a cut, and specifically announce the opportunity. Since that isn't in place yet, and we were in need of some financial support while we were finishing the beta, we made the request.

I'm done repeatedly defending that this project is not just some "elaborate pump for FLO" as a few folks like to call it. It will be released publicly soon enough, and you can make up your mind for yourself at that point. In the meanwhile, if people want to assume it is a pump, they're free to do so.

I think you're being a little thin-skinned about all this...
And are also conflating  what multiple people say as one voice...
Especially considering that your Business Model is unproven and open to discussion.

I've asked some legitimate questions about your project...
And in the last 2 posts you have given a lot of detailed info to multiple posters...
Information that is not clear if one just reads blocktech.com

And it's a fact that FLO has been the subject of a 1000% Pump...
Whether you are direct part of it or not... has no real bearing on this reality.

Since FLO is an unregistered, non-compliant security in terms of the SEC and FinCEN...
And since there are no specific regulations that apply the trading of unregistered securities...
It would just be par for the course if your group had bought several million FLO in March.

But this is all kid stuff...
Compared to the barracudas you will encounter a step up in the Venture Space...
Or the sharks that list and pump startup tech on junior exchanges around the world.

On the bright side...
You've already made enough waves that you should have no trouble financing this baby...
Regardless of whether a fully-DMCA compliant torrent site with "long tail" content would fly...
You certainly have a very good story to promote at this point... and it's all about the story before revenues commence.

That data belongs to the exchanges that provide it (I'm sure that's made clear in their Terms of Service)...
Real world exchanges are just as obsessive as Hollywood in terms of owning their content...
So the first plug-in for Alexandria is all about pirating financial data.
I'm not sure how archiving a public API is equivalent to piracy. Nevertheless, I'll send the exchanges each an email and ask them if they feel strongly one way or another about volunteers backing up their historical API data in the block chain. I'm glad you brought this up, because it's possible they're not OK with it, but I suspect it'll be cool.

But not to get side-tracked... the Dev really should adapt his last post for his web site...
I'm not sure which site you're referencing, florincoin.org or florincoin.info? Adapt my post for what exactly?

As opposed to making vague statements like "imagine a world with fairies and unicorns".
If you're talking about my description of the flo-market-data project, I described a problem I've had several times before and created a solution for it. It's not an imaginary solution either, you can read the code yourself!

Also, the Dev appears to be asking for donations to build this thing...
Blocktech is spearheading the development of Alexandria, I'm no longer working for Blocktech. Recently and in the future, all of the hours I spend working on this project come out of my own free time.

Have you ever wanted to view the historical hashrate, market data, or connection count of Litecoin, Dogecoin, Myriad, or another coin that doesn't have this data widely published? It's important for us to record this information in some form. Analyzing properties of many different coins will result in a better understanding of the effect of difficulty on volume and exchange rate, for example.

So here's the beginning (maybe version 0.05) of the first plugin for Alexandria:

https://github.com/metacoin/flo-market-data

This market data program will collect info from Cryptsy, Poloniex, and Bittrex and store it in a local SQLite database. It'll also create an HTTP API to interface with other programs, such as the main alexandria process. Soon, alexandria will have the capability of communicating with this plugin (and many more!) to create archives of this important data that users voluntarily store in the block chain.

With plugins like this, Florin can contribute to keeping history honest.

Just an FYI.  I still like this coin a lot.  I grabbed a bit of BLK many days ago due to the chart and made an easy triple.  Those profit coins I'm taking back here.  I'm happy to have 2 percent, but would be delighted to have 5 or 10.  Yes I believe.  So drop your asks and lower your bids - I'll be happy to take them all.  No, I've never sold one FLO :-)
