GetGems is an unusual brand name, in that it implies action and uses a verb in its title--I can't recall a brand that does that. In order for a brand to be successful, it has to be easy to pronounce and easy to remember, among other things. It doesn't necessarily have to imply what it is, but I suppose the logic is that people searching for Telegram will see "GetGems" and wonder what it is. I don't know how many people will download it based off of that. Whatever the case, it seems to be working... as long as people can remember it and search for it, then that's what matters. The product sells itself.
Maybe GetGems will suffice in the short-term, with a possible transition to GemsChat in the longterm when the airdrop and the referral Gems are no longer available.
With regard to marketing, it doesn't make sense to market/promote GetGems until the airdrop and the Gems referral system are working 100%, so they would are probably waiting until then.
The thing is, even if people type telegram and fall on getgems they might only download it out of curiosity but nothing more.
I hope the app will be marketed correctly on social networks because the only reason i am using whatsapp is because alot of my friends are using it already so I would go with the same logic with getgems. If its marketed correctly and i see friends of mine starting to use it too I would be using it myself. right now i am sure most of us just have the app sitting on their mobile phone since there is already tons of other apps out there.
Also I was thinking of a feature which I am not sure will be implanted but would really be amazing. Group video chat with getgems? Is this in the plans?
