Looks like GetGems is the real gem here. Because with only 3000+ twitter followers, it manages to have 10000+ downloads so far. THAT really says something positive.

As for my response to this "Gems starts to look pathetic already" - in case you haven't noticed, Getgems used to have updates every 3-4 weeks. BUT in the month of July alone, it had about 3-4 updates!!! And with Coinbase joining in, you are probably indirectly calling them pathetic as well i guess. Probably Citi as well for having named GetGems as the ‘Most Visionary Social Solution’ in the Mobile Challenge.

Telegram, Citi, Coinbase...having been acknowledge by such high esteem companies, don't underestimate GetGems. Let us push aside whether an app is a scam or pump-and-dump and whatever nonsense. Look at the facts. So far, all other similar apps like nxtty or startchat...they aren't even the main focus, Development wise. In other words, they are like a feature, a part of a bigger project. For e.g., StartChat is just a side-project. There's StartPay, StartWallet, etc. However for GetGems, GetGems is the one and only main focus and all developments are directed to GetGems. no where else, no other projects. Hence, together with Telegram, it has the potential to be on par with Whatsapp one day and to be better than Whatsapp too. don't underestimate GetGems.

Anyway, this darn GooglePlay Store better don't 'play' with us customers and clients. The way they are handling a case of whether to take an app off their store or not and yet not giving any reason for having done so, they better prepare themselves for a reputation attack on Reddit, Twitter or an article posted on a high traffic news website. What they had done is HIGHLY UN-PROFESSIONAL.

The GEMZ keys are not made from the recovery phrase. The recovery phrase is only relevant to bitcoin.

GEMZ within the app are settled off-chain through the GetGems internal hosted wallet. This is a hybrid semi centralized database system meant for smaller balances and to allow for speed, security and zero transaction fees. GEMZ are able to withdrawn to any external counterparty wallet which will be processed using our secure counterparty gateway server.

This hybrid solution (very similar to how coinbase and changetip operate) is good for new users (that don't have bitcoin and can't pay miners fees) while not taking from the control of users that want to have their GEMZ only on-chain outside of the app.

It's important to note that bitcoin and gems serve different target audiences within the Gems ecosystem. Bitcoin is aimed towards users with crypto background, who probably already own BTC and are familiar with it. These users will enjoy a convenient method to send btc to their contacts (ie. without typing addresses), group payments, tipping etc. Gems is aimed towards the common user who doesn’t have a crypto currency background. Since gems are rewarded for network contribution, these users will own gems just from operating within the network.

Really would like to know how the GEMZ keys are made from the recovery phrase .. The btc keys are as follows .. phrase > mnemonic.js > bip32 masterkey > m/0'/0/0 > BTC keypair.

Also placing the recovery phrase in https://counterwallet.io/ gives the same BTC address as the app. I know my GEMS are on counterwallet but on an address that's generated differently from the phrase.

None of the SMS are coming from telegram so I cannnot use the recovery phrase in the app. Looking for another route to access the GEMS.

Competition feeds you guys with more motivation indeed, love this attitude. An innovative IM with a real world use case is in the making here, the guy who complained should imo contact you guys first, but probably did it out of spite. Keep up the good work.

[Side note, its very easy to buy twitter followers (http://intertwitter.com/), downloads and reviews (http://www.appsuch.com/) etc. These numbers can be pretty but they mean little unless there is user engagement and retention]

In the wallet tab, swipe the gems balance to the left side and you will see your bitcoin balance (we a symbol to make that more clear).
Also make sure you deposited the BTC to your BTC address and not to your GEMS address (Bitcoin and Gems are two separate wallets)

Your pass phrase should work in Hive Wallet and MultiBit HD.

GetGems has 10.000+ aswell, cus we have ios users too and startchat is only android. some jealous asshole complained to google play so the app isn't there at the moment but it will be back soon. GG had a nice momentum going with the ratings and downloads. also fuck the sellers man.

I just registered as a new user on iOS.  I sent a few GEMZ and some BTC to my Gems wallet address on the blockchain.

The Gems showed up in my wallet, but the BTC did not.


How do I withdraw funds from my Gems wallet address?

I tried to enter my 12 word Mnemonic on counterwallet.io.  But counterwallet.io does not accept it as a valid 12 word passphrase.

What is going on here?  How do I recover the correct private key of my wallet?

Maybe it was max who put in the complain about gemz, all of a sudden gemz gets taken off and his scam of a coin appears.

competition is healthy even though this isn't really competition.

So this shitcoin called startchat with 90% fake twitter followers decides to get involved in our space with a pump and dump scammer max keiser backing the project and just like that gets a 2 m market cap. wouldnt suprise me if they complained to google play and people complain about open sourcing everything so that scammers like max copy past all to their own project.

This is just a blip, if you're smart then you would be buying the cheap gems on the exchanges.
