Please do something about the game freezes. For some reason this game is impossible for my computer to run. I first tried this on my old emachines computer, then on my laptop, I will post the specs for both if required. I cannot play though, because the game loads, yes, and my wallets were completely synced, but the lag is too much for my pc to process the movements, so what I'm saying is there is a movement every what, 15 minuntes? Then it freezes for another 15 minutes.
there is a problem with freezes.. but I can assure you that on 3 clients (and 2 vmwares running simultaneously) the freezes/pauses sometimes (rarely) when a block comes in lasts no more than 15-20 seconds (at a maximum, normally just 5 seconds) on my machine.
So am not sure why yours freezes for 15 minutes.. i would guess maybe your PC is slow.
but you will need to be patient, posting the same thing 5 times won't make us get it fixed faster. The C++ coder who helped me to create Huntercoin passed away 1 week ago, you need to wait for other people to go through the code to fix the problem.
If the game is not playable for you, i suggest you give huntercoin a miss if it's causing frustration.
This is a world first on many levels... expect small bugs
Hey Snailbrain - I know things are in a state of flux, and I'm very sorry for the circumstances, but care to give the investors an update on the state of finding a new developer or development team? I honestly think this is a great and innovative coin but was hoping to just get a few tangible details?
Sure,
There are multiple devs looking into the code atm:
HunterMinerCrafter, seems to have rectified the daemon crash + found some other issues which they are working on. They seem highly skilled and "understand" the code. And also may be interested in taking on the project (dev role).
I am currently in discussions with someone who is looking into being lead dev, he has a wide range of skills, and the ability to setup the centralized server plan i have (to play on any device and in browser, so no need to download chain etc).. also specializes in android development.
There are numerous other devs working on other things, like UI improvements and other stuff like - Mithrilman's alternative client (which won't have slow down issues [but I will get them fixed in the qt also]) although will be windows only (although could work on xbox + windows7 phone) (can run in wine or vm for linux/mac), khal (lead nmc dev) working on block explorer and supporting generally. The people behind huntercoin.info, huntercointalk.com and more.. of which have setup on their own accord.
Domob (nmc dev) is helping out also (but too busy to take on the project completely atm), currently he is re-implementing Namecoin code on Libcoin. This should update and speed up the Namecoin client by orders of magnitude, he will then attempt to repeat with Huntercoin--- (Namecoin has the same slow syncing issue, and same pauses sometimes when a block comes in.. the problem with slowdown (sometimes) i'm pretty sure is not huntercoin specific).
He is also helping in a general way --- he has fixed the expanding names, so now you can resize the map window (to have more teams)... I'm currently testing atm before i commit the pull request.
Manicminer pool are also assisting, and he is very knowledgeable of the code
---
note: i have spent almost 1 year on this project, and a lot (for me) of ££$$.. I am not going to just hand over the keys to the project to anyone in such a short time (1 week). I am committed entirely to the project, so be patient..
note: Donations will help - I have received approx 170 HUCs so far (and 50NMC).. but spent $£, and many many hours (and took the last 3 weeks off work) ... and, i've given out 1500 HUCs from my own coins I got in the game to people helping out
Hi Snailbrain - wasn't at all trying to be impatient! Was actually hoping to hear something exactly along these lines - that you're committed, and that work towards finding a new dev/team was happening behind the scenes. I think that this reply can help reassure people and prevent investors from dumping - it sounds as though you're very committed to this project, and I very much respect your work. This project is looking very promising - obviously there are issues that have cropped up that need to be addressed, but it sounds like there's a very competent and committed management and dev team, and I think that's all anyone can ask for. Also, I totally respect that you don't want to hand over the reigns to someone you don't know well, and need time to sort that out - I think doing your due diligence is very prudent!
