Hi All,
This info will apply to any pool you wish to use to mine, as most pools available currently WILL provide you with more than one port for mining.
For those of you using our CWI-Pool HomeBlockCoin, just some information that doesn't seem to be supplied currently.
The very first thing you are required to do is when looking at mining ANY coin is the pool itself. Whether it is an MPOS style pool, or Yiimp style pool, or custom pool, they ALL have their own unique set of instructions to mine with, so please read what you can or ask (as many of you have here).
If the pool is a Yiimp based pool.
This pool system requires just the wallet address (or one of them) and point mining hash to the address and port it supplies to mine.
- Acquire a wallet address.
- Acquire a miner for your mining method (ASIC usually a web interface, GPU a miner such as ccminer, or rental such as MiningRigRentals or NiceHash).
- Set the parameters in the miner for the pool and mine.
If the pool is MPOS based pool (CWI-Pool system is an MPOS based pool).
This pool system requires you to register and create an account, create workers, then point your mining hash at the address and port it supplies to mine.
- Register and validate the registration (some pools will not require the validation step via email - CWI-Pool system does).
- Login to your newly registered account and setup your account and workers.
- Take note of the address for mining (which is sometimes different than the pool address - CWI-Pool system is).
- Take note of the ports to use when mining. Ours have two ports available for mining. lodiff and hidiff.
- lodiff is a Low Difficulty start port for those who have small hashrate to mine with, like a single ASIC or GPU.
- hidiff is a High Difficulty start port for those who are mining with (usually) small to large farms or rented hash (such as MiningRigRentals or NiceHash).
Those who have smaller hashrate NEED to mine on the lodiff port due to the smaller lower starting difficulty.
Those who have large hashrate NEED to mine on the hidiff port due to much higher starting difficulty.
If you mix the ports, you will end up resulting in one of three things.
1 - You will start at a difficulty way higher than your miners will handle, and the shares the miners will be processing will be too difficult for the miners, causing very little shares for the hash.
2 - You will start at a difficulty way lower than your miners should handle, and the shares the miners will be processing will be easy for the miners, causing flooding of the pool stratum, usually ending in rejected shares.
3 - You will be banned for a short period of time, everytime this happens.
The CWI-Pool System ALWAYS has the main information available, though the standard MPOS pool software does not really allow the publication of more than one prot in the 'help' section. We will be producing our own version of MPOS system soon that will rectify these issues.
In the case of CWI-Pool HomeBlockCoin - two ports are allocated. This in formation can be seen at the label that is the pull down menu for all our pools.
'HomeBlockCoin (HBC) - CWI-Supported Coin - X11 | 1206 | 5206 - Production'
This reads simply as this -
Name of Coin Mined - HomeBlockCoin
Ticker Symbol of Coin - HBC
CWI Status - Supported Coin
Algorithm Used for Mining - X11
Low Difficulty Port (lodiff) - 1206
High Difficulty Port (hidiff) - 5206
Level designation at CWI - Production
So if you are mining, the main parameters used for your miners will be as follows (using ccminer as an example) -
Registration for Account on CWI-Pool
http://pool.chainworksindustries.com/hbc/Small hash (ASIC/GPU/Small Farm)
ccminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.chainworksindustries.com:1206/ -u cwi.cwi -p x -a x11
Large hash (Large Farm/Rental)
ccminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.chainworksindustries.com:5206/ -u cwi.cwi -p x -a x11
Of course change the username.worker and password to the ones you have setup originally when you registered your account, NOT the example ones above, as they are the CWI-Donation settings ONLY. As with all CWI-Pool systems pools, there is only ever a 0.7% fee, though if you wish to donate more, that can be setup in the 'My Account/Edit Account' module, and will be very much appreciated.
We hope this helps, and will endeavour to answer what we can if you have any queries. As always, if there are any issues, please let us know.

No matter which pool you use, always have fun mining.
