Good news....  1st case was picked up last evening. Cheesy
Boxes/packs will begin shipping Monday.
PMs will be sent today for anyone who posted interest.
Offering unboxing/pack opening video service for anyone who wants to trade Cool

Update: a few paid orders will go out today, so hopefully people start getting them mid next week Cheesy

I helped a user open 3 packs in a video unboxing and they pulled a Beryl Gemstone Refractor with only 3 boxes (6 packs)... pretty nice!! Cool

Here are some pictures to help determine what type of cards are each.

BASE CARDS: matte, color border
HOLOFOIL: glossy, color border
CRYSTAL SPARKLE: glossy, no border (full art)
GEMSTONE REFRACTOR: glossy, color-coded border, stamped back (in silver)
**Each base card (1-60) has the full 338 GEMSTONE REFRACTOR available, so a good chance you would get one in a few packs!
META RARE: No base cards. Exists as all other variants: HOLOFOIL, CRYSTAL SPARKLE, GEMSTONE REFRACTOR
COLD FOIL:  No information yet

Here is an example of all cards except for a META RARE. Smiley

**I opened 6 boxes, and got a really good assortment of all cards.

BASE // HOLOFOIL // CRYSTAL SPARKLE

GEMSTONE REFRACTOR  (#50 BERYL 008/149)

COLD FOIL : SHIBA INU  (super shiny gold foil.. hard to capture properly, better in hand)

@JUPITYR:

Is there an official checklist?

Are the Holofoil cards the shiny ones with a border and the Crystal Sparkle are the ones without a border?

For the Gemstone refractor cards, does every card come in every ratio or is this spread over the entire run of cards?

And for the Meta Rare and Cold Foil cards, are there only 1 version of them or do they also come in Holofoil/Crystal Sparkle/Gemstone refractor versions?

EDIT:
made a rough, printable checklist if anyone wants! Cheesy

So, the funding? The stats that you gave us, is that for JUST the Series 1 cards? Or, is that for series 1,2,3,etc...? Are there going to be 5 series? 5 Bitcoins = 1 Btc per Series? Please, a bit (pun intended) more clarification.  Smiley Thanks.

Also, what size are the individual cards? Will they fit inside a PSA slab?

How many cases were made of the Series 1 cards?

Thanks for any information that you may have. I really think that these are made with pretty and vibrant colors, they should do well.  Cheesy

All odds are specific to the Series.  There are (5+) 1 BTC and (24+) 1 ETCH Redemption cards just in Series 1.

These are standard size 3.5 x 2.5 trading cards, so they will fit inside a PSA, BGS, CGC slab.

Thanks,
J

I already bought a 12 pack but any plans in the future to reduce pricing for bulk purchases? Seems kinda rough buying a 48 pack and saving $0 per pack, just a thought. Still pumped for these to come in!

I did the same... I am hoping these catch on so the first series are the ones to collect.  Either way, happy to support a Bitcoin/crypto project like this.

Thanks for the kind words!

As it happens, the offer price was originally going to be $40/box just a couple of months back, but with the replacement cost of the crypto rewards much lower now, we were able to reduce the SRP on the boxes.  So in a sense they are already a bit on sale.  ;-)  Either way, there really isn't a large supply of the Series 1 boxes.  The crypto redemption security process (and sheer cost) doesn't really allow for much scaling.

Series 2 artwork is more or less complete, sans 1 or 2 straggling pieces.  Series 3 has been started as well.

Appreciate everyone's support on the project.

We drop-shipped an early case to MJ yesterday, so reach out to him for any extras he might have.  The rest have to go to the Chicago warehouse for processing and shipment for those who placed orders through the site.

Also, the checklist is now live on the site.

From company CARDSMITHS comes their newest line of physical trading cards:

CURRENCY Series 1

From website:
CURRENCY takes the collector on a journey from the earliest days of civilization where mankind first bought, sold, and bartered for the basic goods they needed to survive, to the present where technology, digital banking and cryptocurrencies power the economic engine of commerce. Our Series 1 trading cards depict influential persons, memes, artifacts, and forms of money that have played an important role in the development of civilization and our modern economy.

To bring this unique set to life CARDSMITHS collaborated with some of the top artists in the world of trading cards, comic books, digital illustration, indy art and graphic design. Whether you are a fan of history, finance or just great art pieces, there is something for everyone to treasure with CURRENCY.

The fun doesn’t stop there!

Along with rare foil variants, such as our proprietary Gemstone Refractors™, we have randomly inserted redemption codes into Series 1 packs that award fortunate finders with various amounts of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dogecoin. Some of the codes are even redeemable for an entire Bitcoin!

Don’t let history pass you by. Start building your CURRENCY Series 1 trading card collection today!

Approximate odds of finding per pack: Base Card Parallels: Holofoil 1:1, Crystal Sparkle 1:2, Gemstone Refractor™ 1:10, Cryptocurrency Redemption Code 1:96, Meta-Rare Refractor™ 1:124.

From company contact:
We’ve created a trading card set, mainly about the history of money and economics, but with a heavy lean into cryptocurrencies.  There are even redemption cards for actual cryptocurrency including multiple redemptions for 1 BTC (more than 5 in total) and 1 ETH (more than 20 in total)   There are also hundreds of redemptions for smaller denoms like 0.1 ETCH, 0.01 BTC, 1 LTC and 5k Doge.  There’s 1 Redemption Card per case and there are 48, 2-Pack Boxes per case.

Each 2-Pack box retails for $30.  In theory, you could spend $30 on a 2-pack and pull a redemption card for a $20k 1 BTC.  The odds are quite good as the production run was not big at all.  Much better than say the 1 in a million chance with the Burger King giveaway.

The art in the set is fantastic as well.  We commissioned artists who have worked for Marvel, DC, TOPPS, IDW, etc.  There are Bitcoin cards, Satoshi cards, and a bunch of other fun ones.  There’s even an Elon Musk card created by the lead Garbage Pail Kids artist which everyone loves.

Also, redemptions are sent to winners through custom Cardsmiths Ballet wallets!!

Sales will begin later this week via the website here: https://cardsmiths.com/products/currency-series-1-trading-cards-collector-box
US customers can order via the website.

International customers can also order via the website, but I am offering a group order to help with shipping fees.
So if interested, just let me know here or via PM and we will make the order later in the week or next.

what's the difference between pre-order and buy now on the site linked?

The joys of Shopify.  There is a way to add a shipping date to the Pre-Order button text.  I think someone on the web team attempted to do that and instead ended up with two completely different buttons.

Sorry for the confusion.  Will try and get that sorted.  Either way if you place an order or a pre-order, the goods will get to you.   Smiley

Thanks! gonna grab a 12 pack but I'll hold off til it's fixed just incase Tongue
