The practice of stealing coin names and benefiting from other people's work has become a widely understood convention? Cheesy

You don’t need an exchange to point your miners - you need a pool. Exchange is to sell your mined coins

Nice to know  Roll Eyes

Now please advise me what is the point of mining if I can't sell the coins?

is it an official fork from litecoin dev?

No, and the team has been quite up front about that.

The premine is the only thing that bothers me about this. Depending on how it's used, it might turn out ok. If, as a previous poster posited, they just dump it, then it will go nowhere.

I'm apprehensive about which exchanges this coin lands on.

Wouldn't it be better to hold off and wait for a half-decent exchange than to immediately link with any exchange that will have it?
I'm interested to mine this, but I'd rather see it on an exchange which carries a bit of volume first.

The Dev team should show us a leap of faith and use their own initial capital To have the coin listed on bittrex or binance... or at least.. an exchange which carries a bit of volume. I'm not registering for Mercatox just to allow me to mine this. I will wait for a decent exchange to point my miners at this.

I hold LTC for litepay, coming at 26.02, and not for LCC, anyway

Me too , This is the real reason why LTC surges , LTC just fine and no need to stupid fork to improve it
I'm thinking the same way.

I would say: LTC might have primarily surged / surges cause of Litepay, but LCC is helping LTC in the following way:

1. Some see two reasons to buy LTC before fork, even if the LCC reason is considered much weaker of an argument than Litepay, it is still a supportive argument
2. LTC is being simply pulled of the exchanges to collect LCCs
2a. This might have created a (slight) virtual shortage of LTC being sold
2b. (Casual) day-traders might stop day-trading for a day or two to collect LCC, leaving mostly long/mid-term traders in action, making the virtual shortage of LTC (from previous point) more prominent (i.e., not many are really selling any LTC for a "reasonable" price at any given moment of a day)
2c. With LTC "partly gone" from the exchanges, all orders of these LTC owners are gone, even the invisible, stop loss ones => among other things, less panicking (not that there is some currently, but heavy profit collecting could have happened with LTC already, LCC helped that not to happen to the extent it could have happened)

Not sure what to think about all of this lol

Might mine it for a day or 2 real hard but any sizable SHA256 farm could leave us with scraps. Dark Gravity adjustments make it less likely they would jump in.

Time will tell. Don't see a practical use for another coin of this sort... pretty much already have similar coins Shocked

We are not interested in dumping. The premine will be to a highly visible vanity address on block 1371112 so you can easily keep an eye on it. Our intention is a very gradual sale to fund future development indefinitely.

And now some breaking news courtesy of Mercatox: They hope to credit LTC holders with LCC - which makes them our first confirmed market. (News link)

Watch this space for more exchange support very soon.

The premine bothers me as well, but im with you in that its a freeroll for us...why not keep the coins and see what happens right? If they want to shoot themselves in the foot then fine, but I doubt they will.

Mercatox is a great start btw, glad to see this

Really ?

In my opinion, if you really want to have a chance of being something in the crypto world, start by chosing carefully the exchanges : better none than scammers.

Poloniex is on my blacklist, and for what I read about Mercatox you should think twice before collaborating with them...

For Mercatox, definitely this is a great opportunity to pull in new users, so LTC having such a huge community, Mercatox probably making a good move about this.

I doubt they will dump the coin, and rather focus on long term developement and adding features like wallets, exchanges and other support.

I was looking at the chart where they compared it with other coins. I picked up only Litecoin to keep focus on it in order to understand the improvements which this fork will bring. They changes algorithm to sha 256 plus increased supply rest I don't see any difference. What larger supply can be helpful for I don't have any idea at the moment.
