The cost of a Antminer S7 in $300 - $400 more expensive than building a 6 GPU mining rig, with 1060s. Also the GPU mining rig can mine many algorithms.

Also GFX card hold good value for resale, believe it or not you can actually play video games on them.

In case the Litecoin Cash developer did not know. Bitcore (BTX) has already solved absolutely every problem they claim to be approaching. ASIC miners are power hungry machines, and GPU mining was developed to decentralize mining. There are not too many crypto investors who care to even purchase ASIC miners anymore. The cost of a Antminer S7 in $300 - $400 more expensive than building a 6 GPU mining rig, with 1060s. Also the GPU mining rig can mine many algorithms.

Bitcore (BTX) has solved the block speed problem a long time ago. Far before Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Radium, and all the other shit forks, BTX has literally fixed all of the crypto problems.

Just when I thought the time for shit coin forks was over, these idiots go and fork the great Litecoin. With these bogus claims, to fix problems that have already been fixed.

So if I understand correctly the intentions behind this fork, they are mostly to get people use there old miners since there are no choices in top 100 coins for SHA256 algo? And you are creating this fork to easily get placed into top 100 using somebody else's credibility? Wow...!

If you think you can get there, get there on your own. This is anyway a brand new coin and has nothing to do, absolutely nothing, with LTC.

Would you rather them just glossy up a nice ANN and ask for 40million in an ICO where there is literally no working product yet??

There are choices for sha256 but they are few and far between for old miners....would you rather mine a litecoin fork where there are already established holders and code base or mine a coin that hasnt been updated in years?

I cant believe the sentiment in here given all the bitcoin forks we have seen in the past year...one litecoin fork and people freak out. why fuss about free coins??

Litecoin Cash, what would be the price in USD if the fork happens? I have 2 Litcoin in exchange, can I leave them there or would it have to put in a wallet windows?

Hey all, a huge interview with Tanner just dropped, where many of the above questions about "what's wrong with LTC", "why SHA256" are answered. Check it out!

What is the point of this, Litecoin is already fast and cheap?

Sounds like a load of BS to me

Hi all, we are happy to reply about Charlie Lee's posts.

We don't want to engage on Twitter and protest our innocence, etc. He is absolutely correct to be skeptical.

We are absolutely, 100%, NOT an "official" Litecoin-endorsed project.

EVERYONE is correct to be skeptical. Skeptical is a sensible default state! If you like, consider us a tutorial level for LTC forking. Practice safe forking and never import a private key that still has live coins on it into ANY wallet or website -- including ours.

And remember, you don't have to claim right away; your LCC won't go away. Wait and see how others find the process. Nothing stopping you making sure your LTC are on a key you control for the fork block, in case you ever decide to claim in the future.

Oh, and we're definitely not bitmain!

So can you please elaborate that why did you change the algorithm from scrypt to sha 256

Probably to use ASIC's to get an initial horde before the difficulty gets too high.

@robelneo: Welcome aboard, and thanks for the support Smiley

@everyone: Discord seems to be where our community is beginning to crystalize. Drop by if you have any questions at all. We had an impromptu developer Q & A this evening with plenty of great questions. In other news, a huge interview with Tanner should drop in a few hours; we'll link it here as soon as it's published.

I'm supporting this fork like I supported the other previous bitcoin forked which proves to be competitive in the market, this is the first so called litecoin fork so we'll see how it goes this is the best attitude right now, I got some litecoin when everything is in red so it's a win win situation for litecoin holders because you are getting ten times of litecoin cash.

I think that LCC is the brainchild of bitmain like Bitcoin cash and guess who dominates SHa256 algo obviously it's bitmain and that's why they have changed  the algorithm from scrypt to sha256 because usually the forks are of the same algorithm apart from some exception like Bitcoin Gold but that too have a reasoning behind it that is  to avoid ASICS. And I think that the new model V9 antminer of 4 Ths launched by bitmain is also somehow linked to this coin launch.

This is a really good point although i wouldnt go so far as to speculate that bitmain is behind the project, but it does say something to me that they changed it to sha256...

there could be some serious interest there and this coin could do well with just that small mining niche..

Devs I dont fully understand replay protection, can you explain a little bit about it and if it will be used in this fork?

Replay attacks can occur when the same transaction can be valid on two blockchains
you could do the legimate transaction on one network, then literally copy the transaction over to the other blockchain and it would be validated, e.g., without you having to sign for it there
this is the case when two blockchains use the same strategies for signing and checking the transactions
even if the networks use different addresses (as ours do) they still resolve on the blockchain to the same private key. The address is derived from the private key, but the private key is what actually matters, and as these are the same, replay attacks would be possible.
To implement replay attack protection, you need to make it so the same transaction wont validate on both networks. We do this by changing the consensus rules related to how a transaction is signed. If these are different on the two networks, then the same transaction will not validate on both (this works in either direction) and therefore, the network is protected from replay attacks.

That does mean that transaction created in Litecoin Cash network will not be accepted in Litecoin network, or transaction created in Litecoin network will not be accepted in Litecoin Cash network.
