Ark and Lisk are intended for different use cases.

Lisk is being developed to run blockchain applications and provide blockchain services. Ark is a simplified version with the blockchain app functionality removed and a data field added for bridged blockchains, enabling them to store and retrieve data from the main Ark chain.

It also has a different voting system, where 1 Ark = 1 vote for 1 delegate, or is split equally among the delegates selected, so the same 1 Ark might be 1/10 of a vote for 10 delegates, or 1/50th of a vote for 50 delegates.

Ark also adds Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) to pre-approve blocks for inclusion in the blockchain to prevent forks, and adds forging from uncles to decrease latency and reduce block times by allowing new blocks to be forged even when a delegate does not have the previous block included yet.

Not really.
What you write is the vision, but not real at the moment.
Today I had taken a look at your GitHub - there is nothing.
https://github.com/arkecosystem

I like your commitment.
But currently the Ark Bitcointalk-Thread looks like an insider job, hyped by unhappy Lisk members and spammed by cannabanana (as here at the beginning of Lisk).

we already explained why we have not released it and that it will be within this upcoming week or so.  If you wanna talk about Github, then do you remember, Lisk didn't even release their GitHub link until MAINNET Launch!

There are plenty of people not part of the founding team posting in the Ark thread.

The roadmap for when the above mentioned features will be added to Ark are in the roadmap.

leave him alone Mike. This one does not deserve any kind of explanations or the time spent to answer.
The only purpose he was born for is to hate and spread fud. Don't you see that he is just a wannabe troll failed five times in a row his graduation?
Let him practice. He desperately needs it...

I've been running a $10 node since July. I don't know what happened prior to that but I see the facts that I just pointed out. 1) Lisk is not ready yet 2) at this point you can run a $10 dollar node 3) the community can't handle the bugs that may occur.

1. true
2. sure right now on mainnet because genesis nodes are running all the forging spots and are stable because they are not switching ranks.  What happens when we're allowed to start forging and the order of forging nodes starts to change and forks start happening again on mainnet and your $10 node is the first one to fork?
3. why does the community have to handle it?  We paid Max 6 million dollars to make it work.

thats why you want to get rich with your ARK-ICO too? Because you couldn't with lisk forging?

are you that frustrated with lisk that you really need a new ICO?

When we start to the moon? Wink

Never, no I'm just kidding Tongue
It will mooooon when the first official dapp/blockchain app will be released and delegates will be able to forge.

~snip
Since this is the lisk thread I have to notice that lisk started as a copy of crypti. At ths moment, as I recall Oliver saying , lisk code base has nothing to do with crypti anymore.

Helpful may be a look at the following topic.
There you will find all changes made to the Lisk core from the beginning.

is there a way to start a $1 node and start forging?
Forging isn't still enabled in the mainnet so we can't tell what the system requirements would be. But in my opinion $1 is too low.

The technical equipment is essential and not the price.

https://myvirtualserver.com/
https://www.time4vps.eu/pricing/

I have 4 nodes, 2 each at both providers. Works perfekt for me.
Vultr or Digital Ocean is much more expensive and not better, I've tested them also.
And you can recognize at time4vps for example, there is a big difference when you pay for a month or equal for 3 months, 6 months, 12 mounths etc.

what is the minimum, and is there a guide on starting a node?
Check this guide https://lisk.io/documentation?i=lisk-docs/BinaryInstall
You can test your node in testnet, read the testnet channel at lisk.chat. (Currently the testnet has some issues but you can still catch up there, or you can run a mainnet node and wait till the forging starts)

Thank you for the information
