This worked! Help -> Debug menu in the Wallet application, then in the Console tab

type "addnode add"

I did like 10 of em, and after about 5 minutes it started syncing. Pic related.

I'm mining on ypool at the moment. Found 5 blocks during 3 hours, but got only about 50 MAX overall...  it's not correct statistically.

Is there a way to mine this solo on GPUs?

Yes I did, I just used the sample from 1gh (inserting my wallet address) which is

--keccak -o stratum+tcp://maxpool.1gh.com:17333 -u WALLET -p x

it does not require you to set up workers

might be a problem due to DDOS attacks on 1gh?

I tried it on dwarf pool and it works great and is very fast however dwarfpool solves almost no blocks...

Is there any way to use cgminer with ypool?

miner failed to start. make sure you have the minerd executable and libraries in the same directory as maxcoin-Qt
