have an old private key for Maxcoin.  I have downloaded the windows wallet for maxcoin, but I am not seeing a way to import the private key easily.  Whats listed on GitHub is either over my head or lacking information.  I am not turning up much info via google.

The wallet uses Qt v 4.8.6 if this helps.

Can someone help me on importing the private key?

Any rumors of max Keizer coming back to MAX?  I remembered he originally pumped this coin to around $2-$3.

I heard some talk a few months ago but not sure it was for real.  TIA!

He never really left completely tbh, you can see him and his wife Stacy participate once in a while in the Telegram group  Smiley

The mining difficulty of this coin has jumped from about 20k to 150k+ over the past seven or eight hours, is someone trying to attack the coin somehow? Would a 51% attack look like this? I can't see it being profitable to bring that much hash power online when the coin is so cheap at the moment.

The fact that Maxcoin's developers are still working is worth noting.

You, me, everyone, don't know what will happen. We will continue working on MaxCoin. Time will tell.

Regards.

Myriad-Groestl, Skein, Qubit, Quark, Groestlcoin and Keccak are all being mined by Baikal Giant X10 ASIC machines (although Groestl and Keccak are only being mined in private by Baikal, the rest are public).

I am an idiot.

Just as this post proves that ASICs and FPGAs exist for all these algorithms.

I've worked with FPGAs.  They can be reprogrammed in about 1 minute to a completely different 'system'.

Parallel processing as in running the same 'code' on one chip.  Depending on the complexity.  1000s.

FPGAs are actually better because of the reprogrammable part.  ASICs are designated hardware like a video card is designated to output video to any display.

I haven't worked with FPGAs for 18 years.  But they were extremely powerful back then.  The Altera software costs an arm and a leg.

I'm not an expert by any means.  I could not implement a full replica of the MOS 6502 on an FPGA, because it's impossible.  Look up the undocumented instructions and how coders used them to do impossible things on everything that used that CPU.

Opencores website has existed forever.  They had open source implementations of anything for FPGAs.

I wrote a small synthesizer.  It used the UART code, simple 1 bit DAC code, coded my own oscillators (based on the C64 SID spec sheet).

The analog filter had to be implemented on a CPU (on an FPGA).  I dropped the CPU.  Good CPU cores need IP licenses.

Serial type of processing on an FPGA is possible, but eats up all the resources fast.

I even experimented with the VGA core.  Had VGA output to a screen working in 1 hour.  Needed few resistors on the GPIO pins.  That's it.

So as long as there is code that can mine using that 'new' algo, anyone with a cluster of inexpensive FPGA dev boards is way ahead of the game.

One member of the community is developing a user friendly FPGA miner (which includes Keccak, among other algorithms). There was also a working prototype of this fpga mining using solar energy.

Why not creating a discord for official? So community can track the development and mutual discussion.

We do have a discord channel, but it's currently for core team and contributors. Discord made easier to follow up on individual subprojects.

lol..
So a project with noone working on it has the same ability to advance as a project that has a active development team.

Is there not some kind of IQ test, that we can  do before people are allowed to waste peoples time, and to stop idiotic posting ?
The dribbling of a incontinent BABOONS BACKSIDE would be better smeared across the screen than ..
"The fact that Maxcoin's developers are still working is worth noting."

There is an IQ test for that sort of stuff.  But it's not the general IQ test.

You would have to meet the active developers working on it and look at them coding away.

In person, not over a web forum.  That also tests that they are human.

Have a drink with them and ask general, common knowledge type questions.

I only know one person IRL that I can actually have a conversation that is meaningful.

I will stop my idiotic posting, because I am wasting my time.

Its not bad coin, i like it, but guys, please add your coin to any normal exchange like CryptoBridge for example. I'm not personally like it, but it much better than YoBit.

This is dead project people already lost their interest look over the volume on exchanges because of bad reputation of these exchanges. But if you want to keep this as fun than it is nice to stake little amount in it and forget about this. If you are lucky than it will work nice for you.

on coinmarketcap, minable coins, is at 119 place from 567 coins. it is a working project

Wrong.  Dead project, change of algo.  It has existed since 2014.  i think it hit 20+ cents.  Now it's 6 cents.

The math is simple.  Way too many coins out there.  Worth nothing.  1/3 the value of what it should be worth.

Coinmarket cap as of today:  Rank 620

CryptoBridge for example. I'm not personally like it, but it much better than YoBit................ MAXCOIN IS A COMMUNITY DRIVEN COIN, AS IT HAD NO ICO OR PRE MINE THERE ARE NO FUNDS TO PAY TO HAVE THE COIN LISTED.

Dead project, change of algo.  It has existed since 2014.  i think it hit 20+ cents.  Now it's 6 cents.HuhHuhHuh??
SO BY USING THE SAME MATH----- BITCOIN WAS AT $20,000 AND NOW SITS AROUND $8000 --IS BITCOIN ALSO DEAD

Way too many coins out there?HuhHuh??/
MAX SUPPLY 100MILLION.............. COMARED TO OTHER COINS THIS IS ACTUALLY A LOW SUPPLE COIN

Worth nothing?HuhHuhHuh?
WELL YOU JUST SAID ITS WORTH $00.06 , SO IT IS CLEARLY WORTH SOMETHING..AND YOU CLEARLY SAY ....
1/3 the value of what it should be worth............ SO BY YOUR OWN ADMITTION IRS WORTH $00.06 X 3 = $00.18

Don't bother/waste your time.  SO SHA-3 SHRORRSIGNITURES (which bitcoin is proposing to addopt) dont matter?
what really matters to you is - Coinmarket cap as of today:  Rank 620

I'm talking about the current market cap, coin supply, nethash and many other important things that are easy to spot.

I look at how many I can mine with 6 fast GPUs (1080tis) and compare that to the circulating coins.

Not to mention ASICs have existed for older algos for a long time.  Silent mining.

I have made too many mistakes.  I'm not here to advise anyone against this 'project'.

I don't have/use social media.  That was a mistake, too.  crypto scam bots (yes, inside skype/telegram/twitter/anything).

They will trick you into sending them crypto.

It's not a joke.  Look it up...

https://cointelegraph.com/news/mad-skillz-elon-musk-is-impressed-by-ethereum-scam-bots-on-twitter

It's not important.  There is one or two projects left that are still worth holding onto.

Feel free to moderate this post.  My opinion has nothing to do with freedom of choice.

SO AFTER CLAIMING THAT THE PROJECT IS DEAD, & HAVING YOUR UNEDUCATED COMMENT DESTROYER WITH FACTUAL EVIDENCE THAT IT IS FAR FROM A "DEAD PROJECT"

You now base your whole fundamental analyses of the coin, its development, its use-case on....
"I'm talking about the current market cap"

I am sorry you cant see beyond "I'm talking about the current market cap" and by this logic would have been promoting bitconnect at $100
and shouting scam when #BTC was at $5.00. UNLESS you are willing to look into coins before you pass judgement i guess you should stick to lending platforms, and  other get rich quick scams that involve giveaways, airdrops bounty's. As they require no investigating beyond the coinmarketcap as they are all great investments if you want your investment to be a "hot potato" (just as long as your not the one holding it when people see them for what they are- no intrinsic value- speculative-scams and ultimately going to zero.)

I see but a  few coinswill service, and even less tokens..
the servives are
BITCOIN (BTC)- not the fastest, not the most secure, but the most recognized coin and with the best devs.
ETHEREUM(ETH)- although i dislike eth I see it surviving (be it at single digit dollars) as means of funding projects
MAXCOIN (MAX) - A more secure, faster, less volume, energy effitiant alternative (green crypto) with a value 100th  of BTC, a store of value, the silver to btc gold.
Dogecoin (doge) as doge is a fair distributed OG` crypto its on almost all exchanges so stands as the pole bearer as a median exchange, with enormous supply it can be the "tether" that is sustainable and volatile resistance,

5-10 MORE COINS THAT PROBABLE GOING TO PROVIDE A REAL WORLD USE CASE..BUT  I DONT KNOW YET....

AS FOR TOKENS...
GAMES BASED
VR BASED
AI BASED
THAT AR INTRINSIC TO THE SURVIVAL, USE AND EXPANSHAN WILL SERVICE,, ALL OTHERS ARE GOING TO ZERO

ALL....
TRAVEL-AGENTS ON THE BLOCKCHAIN
REAL ESTATE ON THE BLOCKCHAIN
BLAR-BLAR-BLAR ON THE BLOCK CHAIN

ASK THIS BEFORE YOU INVEST IN "TOKENS"
1 DOES IT REALLY BENEFIT FROM BEING " ON THE BLOCKCHAIN & DECENTRALIZED" WOULD IT NOT BE BETTER SERVED WITH A CENTRALIZED BASE, IN-CASE OF -
EG- A TRAVEL-AGENT --
centralized
you have the ability to complain, report, refund, cancel,
decentralized
you pay, thats it, you have ti trust and hope nothing goes wrong

ANYWAY I DIGRESS
BASICALLY THE ORIGINAL QUESTION WAS REGARDING YOUR IDIOTIC STATEMENT

"I'm talking about the current market cap"

I STAND BY MY ORIGINAL STATEMENT THAT

YOU ARE INDEED A IDIOT
