HOW TO MINE?

No work available  Huh
Run motocoin-qt, then got to Play tab and press "Play to mine"

Just for everyone who didn't noticed: if you press s you will get overall view of level, it may be easier to play in this view

Password-protected archives with client were released: http://motocoin.org/#download.
Password will be announced at 20 May 2014, 20:00 UTC.
Source code will be released on github shortly after launch.

During first days after launch mining speed may be too fast. This may annoy you because every time someone mines a block your level will be automatically changed. This should be fixed after one or more difficulty retargets.

There is special reward for 3 developers of Motocoin - each developer will get 150k motocoins. There will be tens of millions of motocoins so 150k is not very large amount (and some currencies are 100% premined). Also this reward ensures that developers will have strong reason to support Motocoin.

See this Picture?

Now multiply the width and height by 10 and that is how big the levels are. You start at the top and this part is the bottom. (In case you were wondering)

This game has determinisctic physics made only with integer arithmetics (no floating point). Replay is just a list of actions - like turn left, wait 2 seconds, press gas, wait 1.2 sec, release gas, etc. You can perform only 60 actions, so each replay is very compact. Replays are saved in blockchain as proof of work (like nonce in Bitcoin) and they are verified by each client.

Ok, this is what I expected it to be.  But are you sure that the problem of finding such a deterministic replay is not too easy to brute-force or use DP on in some way?

It's actually really hard because you don't rotate smoothly. You rotate at like 20 degree increments (obviously to keep the blockchain size low) you can only hold and release a button 60 times and it needs to be done in 60 seconds. So I don't see a bot coming out anytime soon.

It's not a motorcycle themed logic puzzle. You actually make the motorbike drive through a level to get the coin.
You spawn in at the top and need to get the coin at the bottom.

And how does the "solution is verifiable easily" thing work in that case?  If it is also about right timing of commands, it sounds like it would be even easier to construct a valid solution algorithmically instead of playing the game.  But of course, this is just a gut feeling - we will have to see when the code gets released how everything is done.  Without code and the details, we can only speculate.
I'm pretty sure they said earlier that replay is submitted into the blockchain so everyone can see how you got to the end.
You should probably just download the test software from on the website, you'll see what I mean.

Yes of course - but if it is a real-time game instead of a logic puzzle with discrete moves, it makes a difference how exactly the replay is simulated to verify it (for instance, floating-point differences due to rounding on different machines / architectures when simulating the physics).

As stated already above, I'm definitely not going to download a binary-only code from somewhere.  If they don't release the source, I can't trust them - both for the example demo game and also the final client.  (I understand that they will probably release at the launch date, though.  I'll take a look then.)
Yeah, if the replay is different for every machine then this coin will fail. Hopefully not though.
