I think it's very confusing that links on official site lead to old version of binaries while even c-cex has switched to new version already. Can we fix it?

I will take care of it first thing tomorrow!

Hash rate is picking up, but we still occasionally go a long stretch without a block.  We're nearly there, but still need just a few more miners.

It is important that we get a consistent hash-rate established before the next ~300 blocks are passed.  At block 178000 we move into what will be the look-back interval for the first re-target (at block 180000) so ideally we would like consistent mining established before then.

Go get the word out and find us more miners!

how do i get the game to work, my is just jumping around and i cant play`?

You need to be using the new test build and you need to wait until wallet is synced.

ok Smiley 6 days left of syncing Smiley

Just some updates:

The network is still running smoothly, but slowly.  We need quite a few more people mining.

C-Cex has completed wallet upgrades, but they are still using an increased confirmation time.  That is probably wise until hash-rate is established again.  (Seriously, we need more people mining!)

I'm working on putting up a new block explorer.

I might still do tetriscoin one day Smiley

My better half has been fascinated with the notion of tetriscoin since you mentioned it, as well.  It would be quite a thing to see!

Thanks, it has been a wild ride.  Did you ever end up attempting a bot during "round 1?"

nope, thought about it, looked at moto's source code, but didn't have the time to actually do it

Now that moto is "sorted" for the moment I might be spending a little bit of time working more on my own proof-of-play coin.  I think you will like it, in particular, since our discussions in the other thread are what inspired it.  Wink

looking forward to it!

Me too!  I think we will inevitably have bots again, but I don't think it will end up being nearly as problematic.  In any case the warp attacks shouldn't be a concern again after a few re-target intervals, so we can actually start to push for adoption now.

Hopefully we can also start to actually focus on developing features and exploring the possibilities of proof-of-play instead of spending all of our time worrying about the protocol.

P.S.

I made a post in the mining sub calling for more human miners to participate.  Just the 4 to 6 of us active so far can not do it alone, we will have to sleep eventually!

The network still seems to be running smoothly.  It is so nice to see "obviously human" replays again!

Block 177312 and no major problems yet.  Difficulty will remain at minimum until block 180000 which is a little longer than a normal round, done this way so that we'd have both a full round of 2k blocks to look back over for our first re-target but without shifting the interval off of even numbered blocks.

There is no real obvious indication of any bot activity yet.  I tried running some of my old bot code, from before the race to "straight line solutions" began, over the past few hours but they are all failing to cope with the new network parameters and were not able to hit any block.  I also tried adapting minim1ner's bot to work better with a more limited map filter, and then to work without any map filter, both with no success.  It seems that we have sufficiently "broken" most any brute force search approach to bots, meaning any new bots will need to actually have some more specialized AI.  General purpose solvers simply can't keep up with humans on the newly restricted maps.

Now we just need more human miners again!

William and I have both been in touch with c-cex, and are doing some back and forth about getting the new daemon compiled, so they should be on the new chain very soon as well.

I'd like to give some special thanks and shout-outs to Karth, Spiky, and Adapik for being brave and helping with initial testing to find issues with my build.  I'd also like to give some special mention to Psychocoin for working hard (at his own expense) to help with managing the initial PR mess around the situation, minim1ner for providing the community with a common "reference bot" to work from, and of course our silent mystery-miner for creating what can only be called pure perfection of round 1 moto bots (you literally could not create a better map filter and solver than what he was running) and then using it to keep the network secured throughout the incident instead of just attacking and destroying the whole coin in order to nab a few measly BTC.  (Your epic pile of bot-mined coin is well deserved for not only "winning" round one, but for being honorable and altruistic with taking the win.)

I'd also like to call for a round of applause for WilliamLie2 for sticking with it and not just walking away from the coin as so very many other devs around here would've done!  His commitment to his creation despite all of the problems, nay-saying, and even his own concern about the ultimate feasibility and possible outcomes is quite commendable.

If anyone is having trouble running my motogame.exe on windows, and getting an msvcr120.dll error when they run it directly...

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 and download/install the x86 version.   Smiley

I'll put a block explorer up there at some point also.

Also, am I correct in understanding that gitian doesn't build motogame for windows, so we can't sign that portion yet?
Yes, to build motogame you need to build glfw, to build glfw you need cmake capable of cross-compiling, this all is a little bit complicated.

I think my motogame.exe was just built against the glfw binary distribution.

I'm going to buy some coins soon. I would have thought the price would have dropped a lot more by now but it hasn't. Which is a good sign.

Ok, it's working normally now. I can mine and receive other's blocks so everything is ok (177152 blocks now)

Yup, things seem to be going a little more smoothly now, seems to be at least 3 of us mining on the same chain!
