I thought this was a good project and I was looking to invest in it..
I am sure once the dust settles people will come back to this project
... and join the ongoing discussion at https://reddit.com/r/Namecoin/new  Wink
By the way, Namecoin has the highest hashrate of all the cryptocurrencies at the moment
(one of the side effects of the ongoing BTC vs. BCH mining pools hashrate battle),
see https://www.reddit.com/r/Namecoin/comments/7cge6l/namecoin_hashrate_is_now_higher_than_bitcoin/

This is really intriguing. BCash would have been better going for the merged-mining option on this evidence, instead of attacking to take over Bitcoin's hash power ... idiots.

I like how the new Manage Names tab on the QT client is shaping up also ... good work Brandon R.

I was not going to respond but then I saw your tag line so in the interest of clearing confusion and for information only:

Bitcoin cash is actually bitcoin in my informed opinion.  it is not called bcash.   that is trollspeak. The abbreviation is bch/ xbc for now.. Additionally and more importantly there is a thing called freedom of money.  And yes it is different that access to money by right or by privilege (though those are fascinating topics worth study too).  Anyway freedom of money can be measured since money is a commodity of sorts and can be measured as it moves.  The choke points and bottlenecks and various regulations are all factored in to give a final rating.  Democracies can also be rated in this way... Things like if you are granted access to information, government transparency, etc are factored to give a final rating of 1-10.

Well right now bitcoin is suffering from a severe reduction in the freedom of money it once enjoyed.  What is more tragic is this was imposed from the inside!  So while there are countless examples of nations regulating bitcoin into the ground externally it still survived only to be encumbered most from the inside.

I therefore will caution when calling the people working on bch idiots when they are just responding to the situation.  The alternative would have been to let bitcoin die on the vine as people will use other coins to transfer amounts less than several million dollars., we are already seeing it in smaller amounts now.  People on the bitcoin thread are genuinely scared and with good reason..

I think merge mining with namecoin is worth looking into for bch

Idea is good . the team is very strong , i think that is good project worth to invest
It would be a good project, if the developers maintained a close connection with the community.
[irony]Come to Wex exchange, a lot of people will pray for you:

Shame! I thought this was a good project and I was looking to invest in it..

I know there is a lot happening in crypto right now.  I am sure once the dust settles people will come back to this project.  Maybe not IDK.

Where can I convert Namecoin to other currencies and vice versa?  I used to do it on Shapeshift.io, but for several months it has said "Temporarily unavailable."
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/namecoin/#markets

Thanks, but I don't think that is what I am looking for.  When I said convert, I meant exchange one currency for another, not just to see the conversion of rates.  That is the site I like best for the rate charts, but I don't see a way to swap currencies there.

Hi. I’m starting a list of the oldest cryptos. For now I’m maintaining the list on a bitcointalk thread but will eventually host a website. Hoping to add value to old coins by making the age rankings easy to look up.

Offering $20 in crypto bounty for additions/corrections. I want it to be accurate, but I’m sure I’ve made mistakes so could use your help please.

Thread with the list and details is here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.20120985

namecoin was second digital "coin".  Can be merge mined with bitcoin!

Most likely was originally to be part of bitcoin but instead became later project.

Probably envisioned by Satoshi so that the bitcoin network had more censorship resistant options.

                                                                                       Regards,

Why Namecoin don't have a working proxy in web, like anonymizer-sites
or his own public DNS servers for resolving .bit domains?
If it DNS-servers are exists, why no any IP addresses in block explorer and on the official site?
If proxy or anonymizers are exists, where I can see the source code to do it myself?

I did register a .bit domain name, and cann't get resolving this IP.
I using this manual https://wiki.namecoin.org/index.php?title=How_to_browse_.bit_domains
and I have installed Google Chrome extension dotbitme-bit-web-surfer.
I see JSON string with IP in the ".bit Domains" tab,
when enter my domain name, press check button, and then Info button.
But .bit domain not opening in "Surf .bit" tab.
Also, I cann't get resolving domain using nslookup with OpenNIC servers:
>nslookup my_random_domain_name.bit OpenNIC_Public_DNS_IP
*** UnKnown can't find my_random_domain_name.bit: Non-existent domain

Can anyone help? I have 9 confirmation of Name_firstupdate transaction.

611 Coin (SixEleven) working good. Will try to using Emercoin...

Is there:
1. Any working, and non experimental windows qt-wallet?
2. Any synch?
3. Any addnodes list?

I have namecoin-0.13.99-win64 qt.exe and I know about linux wallets is synching.
I guessed using block-explorer and the official site as addnode:
Quote
addnode=explorer.namecoin.info
addnode=namecoin.org
And now I have syncronization.

Also, I did open without Zeronet this link http://nf.bit/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2656&sid=526bdb072632632a00598bfbefa0ca65

Look at this!
Google Public DNS:
>nslookup nf.bit
Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address: 8.8.8.8
google-public-dns-a.google.com can't find nf.bit: Non-existent domain
Not resolving... Sad

OpenNIC public DNS: https://www.opennic.org/
>nslookup nf.bit 52.174.55.168
Can't find server name for address 52.174.55.168: Non-existent domain
Server: UnKnown
Address: 52.174.55.168

Name: nf.bit
Address: 94.23.252.190

RESOLVING! Smiley

This is domain name in .bit zone for https://forum.namecoin.org/
and when I added OpenNIC PUBLIC DNS server as primary DNS to my router settings
without any ZeroNet software I did easy open this page:
http://nf.bit/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2656&sid=526bdb072632632a00598bfbefa0ca65
Also this PUBLIC DNS SERVERS can be added to the settings for Network Cards.

Im sure this question been asked alot before, but there it goes again..... why nmc not on bittrex?

I am having trouble using core.  Not seeing any connections.
Is there an addnode= list somewhere or additional setups required to use?

One of the strange things about Namecoin, it is the second cryptocurrency, after bitcoin, the first useful coin, still one of the most important innovations, one of only two coins Satoshi Nakamoto was involved with, but still little popular interest.

Anyway, as with any coin, when you need nodes google Namecoin Addnodes e.g. https://forum.namecoin.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2545
