I have a question for you pros?
Currently I use a power supply
"super flower 450p14p"
Combined power (+12 V) 444 W
Max output power (+12 V) 37 A

Or should I rather change to this power supply?
"Thermaltake Berlin 630 W"
Combined power (+12 V) 540 W
Max output (+12 V) 45 A

what can happen in worst case, if I try the weaker power supply?

Thanks for your help

Worse case scenario?  Well let's assume you're overclocking, and it has OCP (over current protection), it may just shut off.  Let's assume it doesn't shutoff and has OTP (over temperature protection).  An overclocked S1 will likely pull ~99% of the available current.  It will probably then overheat and.... shut off.  Of course it could have none of these protections and just burn out/catch on fire.

Let's assume that OCP and OTP aren't triggered and it's pulling 99% of the availble +12V power.  It's highly likely that the PSU is group regulated, so by loading the +12V rail all the way the voltage will drop (probably below 11.9V) which will cause the S1 to have massive hardware errors.

If you're not overclocking the S1, it'll probably work fine.

On the otherhand, the thermaltake will likely not really suffer from any these issues and work like it should saving you grief, headache, and stress.

rm -rf stupidity
Its late and I don't want to search so if nobody answers I may have to spend more time.

I know Bitmain has clock speeds for higher than 400MHz.

I've heard there is a resistor mod that would need to be done.  Would it be possible to customize the avalon watercooling kits I have (5 extra right now) to do that and watercool the ants and pull some power out of them?

Question for you PSU gurus out there - do you think 2 ANTS OC'd @400mhz/200ghs will run fine/safe on an OCZ 1000W 80+ gold PSU rated @90% efficiency?  They will be on their own 20A/125V circuit.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Yes, that will be no problem.

Tank you Sir.  I did hook this up 24+ hours ago and both ants seem to be running well - pcie cables aren't even warm.

Hi all.
I just bought one Antminer S1 and have a questions:
1. Do I need to buy a PSU?
2. If so, could you suggest which is the best?
3. Do I need to buy anything else to get it mine?

Fellow Newb,

Yes.  And, I'm very happy with this PSU that I got from NewEgg.com.  It 'had' a $20 rebate a few weeks ago and $12 instant discount.

I'm running it on one S1 OC'd!

We will be developing a 60-chip blade, such as 160 ~ 200 GH/s per blade high density type, or silent type without heat sink.

I'm curious if any more info about 60-chip blades were released?

Everything you want to know is already posted on this forum..

This forum has 56 pages already. I was looking for a quick way to find it out.

Like many forums, this one too has a search function.   In the future, you might want to ask and answer these questions before spending your money.

1. You do need to buy a PSU
2. There are many options, starting from about $50-60. It mostly depends on what you have available in your vicinity, or if you have time to order online.
3. You'll need to connect the miner to a router with an ethernet cable, so you'll need that.

A more comprehensive guide on setting up the Antminer is here. New miners have PCI-e power sockets, so you won't need to cut anything, skip that part.

Import issues can be put to rest if the sender includes a commercial invoice which list the value of merchandise in USD and it's description. Description should have a code that all customs' can understand.

I included a note with my order, let's hope they don't forget to put the invoice on the box. Otherwise I will have to wait at least 2-3 weeks for customs clearance. Anyone have experience with the first batches? Did you get the invoice on the box?

Invoice is pink slip on the box, this is always sent with Bitmain miners- is legal requirement for exporting from China - It depends on your local customs usually zero problems

You can pay customs fee as soon as you have tracking number so it flys though customs and don't need to pay on the door either!

Is the invoice in $ or in BTC?
always in $.
