I installed the S3+ upgrade on one of my S1's. I'm holding off on installing the others because my S3+ is mining at 1/2 the speed it did before it was upgraded. It went from 180GHz to 105GHz. (That was using the latest S3 firmware. When I used the latest S1 firmware, no mining is happening at all. Help!

I have received mine, I had ordered the heat grease and had plenty on hand.  40 x 1.5 gram syringes. I used one for each side of the hash boards.

First inventory parts, I was shorted 2 springs but no big deal I guess.

Next download the latest firmware from bitmaintech.com

Login to miner, and flash the firmware, check the keep settings box

After the upload completes you get a verification screen before it is committed make sure that the information is correct and select Apply/save

wait for the system to reboot login and verify the firmware has taken

if the firmware says its an s3 then the firmware is complete shutdown and tare the Unit apart / clean and prep for assembly.

My first unit took ~ 3 hours but the next was much easier and any additional will be a lot faster

The S3 firmware is only looking for 16 chips, so it will only see half of the chips on the S1 boards.

Try resetting your frequency under the S1 software and then re-boot

Can someone recommend a temporary fan replacement, I received an S3+ today but one of the fans is DOA, it worked a bit but died shortly afterwards. I currently have it swapped out for a PWM 120mm from a spare liquid cooling unit I have lying around, but it isn't as fast and not nearly as much airflow as the ones it comes with. Easy to tell, as RPM on replacement is max around 1200-1300, and the temperatures are a few degrees up over norm at stock speed vs my units on overclock that are running cooler.
I have contacted Bitmain, I'm sure they will reply Monday. But in the meantime I need to keep the unit running but I don't want to overclock it with this current temp replacement.

http://www.ncix.com/detail/scythe-ultra-kaze-120mm-high-38-26744-1343.htm

Replaced the temporary fan with the one you suggested. I didn't realise they were not PWM, so that bugged me a bit, at first. But only because I didn't look, which was probably a good thing, because I might not have ordered it if I didn't see that as part of the fan. So I am glad I missed it.
I ordered 2, but only installed one on the exhaust side where the defective fan was from Bitmain. It spins at 3000RPM +- a few percent, and the units over clocked at 243.5 and its running at 37/38 degrees Celsius. 2-4 degrees cooler than all my other units clocked at 237.5. So I can accept the fact the fan runs full speed, as long as it lasts for a long time. I may add one to each my units to keep them cooler. Thanks for the recommendation.

Has anyone done the S1 conversion to an S3 yet with the upgrade kit?
if so, did it work?
We tried it and get no hashing from the new boards, show up like this,
xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx ooooooooo ooooooooo
xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx ooooooooo ooooooooo

have tried 2 sets of new S3 boards, same issue,
What am I missing?
I haven't upgraded the firmware as of yet, could that be the issue?
The kit instructions say nothing about upgrading firmware..
What about the Frequency, S3's run at 218.75, S1's run at 350..
not a word in the instructions if I should change Frequency's...
Any ideas??

The trick is to upgrade the firmware to the latest S3 version,
We have it running at the S3+ frequency 225....runs @ 450ghs+... temps 38c.

If anyone has an extra S3+ kit because of the MOQ, let me know.  I've got one S1 and I'm not thrilled with the idea of buying 2 kits because of MOQ.

My kits have arrived today
There is no thermal paste included.
Last week when I reviewed the website for any extras, the kit was to include "a bag of thermal paste"
Now I have to order online and wait for delivery.
This is after watching the upgrade kit travel out from China and return 4 times.
It is now 4 days late from original shipping and I have to wait another 4 days for extra items.

MIght take you an hour. to disassemble clean reapply and reassemble, but you do have to be careful if the grease you are using is conductive. small chips and require very little on each. I would suggest getting non conductive to reduce chance of error. Same thing applies to delidding your CPU, non conductive or you could cause damage by grease touching contacts.

Ive got 3 batch 8 s3:s, hw error rate with those are 10X versus batch 5 or 6. Is it the firmware, any ideas? It isnt still too high but i wonder whats causing this..

Batch 8   18h 14m 22s   hwerrors  1534

Batch 6   1day 07h 14m 22s   hwerrors  133

I was getting a ridiculous amount of HW errors last 24 hours on one blade, at one pool I was mucking with (what a dud pool, 3 days and still no confirmed payouts for BTC) anyway, i had the miner do 2 different pools balanced setting, 1 blade each, when I switched it to just a single pool and used the failover method my errors went to 0.00% that is with S3+ B8

What's important  if that hwerrors x 100%/DiffA is less than 1%. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed and use the Miner Configuration/Advanced Settings tab to change the frequency.

Could it be the thermal stuff, because if i set the clocks to 237,5 i get ooxooo ?

How long does it take to clean everything and put new thermal grease to test  if it helps?

Batch 5 or was it 6 s3 with clocks 250 hw errors 0.00% Firmware is downgraded to antMiner_S320140721.bin

Any one get B9 tracking numbers yet?

Yes.  However when I plug it in to the UPS site, it tells me it's created, nothing else.  so I'm guessing I'll get it mid next week.

BitMain, there's something seriously wrong with your S2s. When are you going to release firmware to improve their performance  Huh

I have 16 S2s and they all stop hashing several times a day. I have to turn their power off and on to get them to restart. Reboot does not work. I've replaced the underpowered EnerMax PSUs with Corsair AX1200 PSUs so that's not it. You also released them with a ridiculously high queue of 8192 causing huge discards and an api-allow W:0/0 giving hackers easy access.

Is the S2 so unreliable that it dies in just a few months  Huh

Are you going to abandon your existing customers or support their purchases  Huh
I have a batch 2 S2 that has been mining since 2014-04-17. I replaced the PSU with a Corsair AX1200i, other than that I'm happy with the unit. Rock solid, never goes down.

Since an S2 draws about 1kW, your farm is producing about 16kW of heat. That's a lot of heat, and I suspect that is the problem.

What temperatures are your S2s running at? Sounds like they are overheating and shutting down. Constantly having to restart them is no fun, and also doesn't solve the problem. The only way to fix this is to get better cooling (more airflow / better heat extraction / etc), or break the farm into different locations.

The good news is that your S2s will shut themselves down due to thermal limits before any damage is done. Once you improve the cooling, all your units will be rock-solid. Try this test: take one trouble unit - one that needs rebooting several times a day - and put it in a different location all by itself (with great cooling / ventilation). Take it home, or put it in a totally different room on the other side of the building, or another building, or something. If it still needs rebooting then cooling isn't your problem. But I'm 99% sure cooling is the problem. It's the major problem of any miner with a big enough farm.

My mine uses 96 kW of power. Temperature is well controlled and ambient heat is not the problem. If anything I suspect it may be due to an issue with house power, but, my S1s and S3s do not suffer this issue. Two days ago I put several S2s on their own 120 V 20 amp circuits distributed across all 3 phases. That has not helped.

Today I'll swap a few AX1200s for AX1200i's and monitor their power.

I have 5 S2 and they run 24 x 7 and have never stopped.  I have updated to the latest firmware.  Why do you not call there support in Denver Co there great, instead of flaming them on a public form.

 Huh

Because BitMain never told me they had a customer support in Denver.

What are your discards?

All 16 of S2s stopped hashing again last night. Maybe I'm jinxed.

I also have 5 S2 machines that have always ran perfect since day 1. I got them when they came out and they are still running great.

I would say you have some other issue.

No Offense.

Perfectly? What are your discards?

Has over 1000TH (deliberately vague, because its not a bash on them), blocks were going, they had found blocks. They ran shifts, but shifts I think were too long IMHO, and you get paid on/after 10 complete shifts Huh
I'm somewhat fuzzy on their whole method, but no matter, I won't mention the name, the support I received was quick thorough and friendly, so I'm not bashing, just not one I am interested in continuing with.
You obviously didn't understand how that pool payout system works. You may well have a balance waiting for you to set an automatic payout level as well as the amount, or to initiate a manual payout yourself. With a full understanding of what constitutes a free withdrawal or fee incurred.
