Interesting. I'll give this a shot. Already looking at and mining on the former snowball.io happily so maybe this will perk it up some more.

Dear Bitmain,

You've earned the reputation for being a reliable and well liked ASIC manufacturer by doing several things that set you apart from the rest of the crowd:

1 - No pre-orders.  You accepted payment only when stock was in hand and ready to ship.
2 - Sticking to you word.  When you said your Ants will do X, they did X.  When you had problems, you compensated your customers.
3 - Reasonably pricing your Ants so that miners could reasonable expect to get ROI.

Now you've changed your tune, and you're becoming like most other ASIC manufacturers out there: greedy **** who don't really care about your customers.

You've:

1 - Started pre-orders.  S3+, L1 come to mind.  BAD idea.
2 - Took over a cloud company and sold GH/s at a price that will almost guaranteed never ROI.
3 - Have your S3+ priced such that they'll likely never ROI.

What are you thinking?  Please change your tune.  You are rapidly becoming disliked and will end up being "just another ASIC manufacturer who only cares about lining their pockets instead of taking care of their customers".

Regards,

M

Seconds the above. But the real problem are,
At the current market they can't just fabricate the IC and sell from stocks.
They probably learned it from S3 sales.
The pattern of their S3 "artificial" batch sale was a clear indication that S3 sale was somewhat below par their expectations.
So, moving forward they can only take pre-orders since its not like manufacturing TV or a Refrigerator.

Again another thing they can do to show justice to their customers is to not set a fixed price now but take an estimated 50% advance and give a promise to make the price to get a 60Day ROI and a profit.

If we all keep away from this NO ROI pre-orders from all companies then, they will change.
BITMAINTECH, comeback as your were before.

The problem is at this point in time with the current difficulty:   27.4 B

1000 GH @.7 watts only mines about .88 btc at .10cents kw/h electric cost

so what could these machines be made for and sold?

Theoretical value is

$420 TH @ .10 cents electric (.88 btc mined)

$286 TH  @ .16 cents electric (.6 btc mined)

$186 TH @ .22 cents electric (.39 btc mined)

Yeah I am a big Bitmain supporter but it seems that they're moving towards the path that other manufacturers are taking. Sad Which is using hardware sales to fund their own farm acquisitions and once they have enough money, stop selling hardware to consumers altogether.

I guess it makes sense economically but it would be very sad to see it that way.

Right now Bitmain, A1 assemblers and AsicMiner Tube are the only miners that are reasonable in terms of ROI and even that is questionable at this point in time. Hobby miners are dying and soon it will be focused to be only a few large industrial players.

Dear Mister BitMan,

We need to know when to expect the S4  Huh

Absent news it's time to buy SP31s.

Dear Miasma,

We are waiting for testing results of the S4 sample machine. Hopefully there will be good news before next Tuesday.

It's Wednesday now... Thursday in China. Did I miss the good news somewhere? Waiting with baited breath!  Grin

Hello Bitmain,

I see you have uploaded the latest cgminer source code here:  https://github.com/bitmaintech/cgminer

Can you please tell everyone how to upgrade their S2 & S3 miners to this latest version with the security fixes? Or are you releasing a new firmware for the S2 & S3 that will include this cgminer version?

Many Thanks, IYFTech.

Absolutely. Can you clarify please Bitmain?

Thanks.

Which exactly are those altcoins beside LTC L1 could mine? Is there a list somewhere?

I believe any lists will be extremely volatile because these pump and dump coins appear and disappear almost on a daily basis.

Agree with this post BITMAIN, and as newbie, and for sure a very good part of us, i would suggest a firmware with the newest version, its more easy for us newbies.

It has nothing to do with the final user being a newbie or an expert, it is the proper way to provide support!

If Bitmain develops and releases a major upgrade, they should test it properly and include it in a package ready for deployment, instead of leaving it to be applied as an isolated patch.

Just my two cents...  Grin

Moreover, the miner will be able to mine multifarious scrypt based altcoin, of which scrypt length can be 1024, 2048, 4096 (n = 10, 11 or 12).
