Bangkok is really a nice place - Lebua state tower is one possibility. But there are so many in this great city:

Suggest a 1000 EUR party in Bangkok after the 1000 USD party as soon as BTC is stable over that level for 1 month or so.
Program could be:
- meetup up and welcome time and coffee

- party night in a rented club
Big advantage - Bangkok is very near to China, India and all other Asian countries which are going to drive the world economy of the near future.

Euro is worth more than the dollar. I see this party taking place when BTC hits $1,000, and taking place in Germany, the birthplace of the Euro, as a statement that says, "Hey you! That other world reserve currency! You're next!

I think it started out this way, as the person who first suggested it is in Germany. I could be wrong. However, there are several other good reasons....

I mostly agree with your thoughts about escrow: at some point organizers will need control of the funds, otherwise they'd take huge personal risk, which is not acceptable.
