Difficulty just dropped to 14.86 -- this coin is about to get very very cheap.  It will go down to 200 very soon (and mining will drop down considerably) - unless someone artificially buys the coin high.

The 2016 block difficulty reset is a definite problem for any stability.  But it is still very fascinating to watch the dynamics.

Probably yes - Very cheap is a good thing for anyone with belief in the future of Songcoin.  Whilst the coin in this immature phase I think they'll be quite a bit of this to & fro stuff and then hopefully when we make an actual development announcement (LOL) things will settle down a bit.  It's interesting that's for sure.

i don't like the current situation. the networkhash has reached 5G, and most of it comes from the multipools.
they will dump every coin once it's been confirmed in their wallets, and they will leave once the price drops.
and at that time, we will face a sky high diff again, and poor low networkhash power.

Thanks for that,

Yes I can empathize with your thought's to back when I was mining other coins.  Going from PC to V/Cards & then ASIC equipment.  Always chasing the coin I believed would hold the most profit etc.  Then when you find profit opportunities it rarely lasts for long.  Hash-To-Coins is a great mining pool.  The way it's setup is great for the miners as you can get that very clear profitability overview on one screen etc.  Obviously they will smash the most profitable coins and I just looked now on the block explorer http://altcoinguys.blockexperts.com/song and the hash is over 6GH/s now so I guess when block 1206 is up again the hash will drop off massively.

Ever since day one of the coins release there's been a lone warrior running 25MH/s non stop.  When it would get below 50MH/s I would switch on my Falcon & watch the power meter glow red.  At least then it would give the coin a chance of surviving I thought.  So I'm happy to see the high hash in one way as the coin is obviously healthy.  As I've said before I try to invest around 1 BTC per week in the coin.  Because the pre-mine is secure and we've no plans to dump them, those coins are put aside for future projects.  We've already shifted quite a few out for vested parties.  So I don't know who's pumping the exchange and I only know one of the other large holders. You can see who the miners are and that they're transacting lot's of coins in and out.  They'd be doing alright at the moment.

Yes hdmediaservices - I'm the one to blame for creating the original value on C-CEX.com - When it was around 2-3 ST I was buying and selling thousands a day.  That was on a budget of about $20 per day.  C-CEX min volume is around .10 BTC per day and the coins always traded above that volume so no worries about being delisted.  NO pump & dump activity I'm aware of.  These guys are usually quite open in the chat room and I've not seen any evidence of it.  In my opinion it's scarcity that's pushing it up.  Yesterday at one point there was on around 80K for sale.

Cheers - DP - Songcoin - Invest In Music

I find Songcoin to be fascinating -- as you can actually see how the coin is being manipulated by "someone" or a group of "someones" to create "volume" on C-Cex.  Perhaps C-Cex warned the developer that if there was no volume soon, it would be delisted.

Anyway, because the difficulty doesn't change but every 2016 blocks -- you can mine and mine and mine it to death -- until that "someone" decides they don't want to buy the coin at such a high price.  And then no one wants to mine it, as the difficulty will be sky-high.

I guess this is how all coins start these days -- with artificial market manipulation, but this coin is different in the difficulty aspect.

Very interesting to watch.

My suggestion for difficulty retarget change: Kimoto's Gravity Well implementation.

Here is my suggestion: http://pastebin.com/HLtACEcj

This requires hardfork, just set the (not a far) height to XXXX for normal and testnet (is a songcoin testnet exists?  Huh )

Thanks for the information, we've talked about the gravity wheel before, but then there were questions with regard to network vulnerability which required further consideration.

I'll talk to the team again about it.  Despite the high diff the network is still being mined around 250MH/s which is probably Okay at this stage.  I agree if we could free the coin up from the mining perspective it would increase the interest and fairness.

Regards - DP - Songcoin - Invest In Music

This patch has already the KGW fix.
Currently there is 114 blocks/day (instead of 720).

I'm interested to find out what developments are in the pipeline regarding assistance to musicians!

Thanks SP, We won't be making any public announcements until we get some concrete plans from the myriad of ideas that we've got regards artist support from Songcoin.  I think that rarely does a business venture such as this end up exactly where it was intended to be at the start.  Also, we have to be mindful of capital costs, if the coins value appreciated to a point that we could fund additional development the we would most likely be experimenting more with some of the ideas we've got but it all takes time.  At this stage, as you've rightly noted we need to get the difficulty sorted, the network strengthened etc.  Before we start pursuing grander plans.  Sorry to sound boring, better to be upfront than dishonest IMHO.

do you need to be a scammer to alow avatar upload?

No, you just need to purchase an account. Then another one to talk to. Then create a couple newbies. Then boom: you have yourself a whole thread of sockpuppets. It's impressive, really
