It's exactly as it sounds. Your private key is stored on a piece of paper rather than on a computer. Thanks.
It's a more secure way of storing coins.

BEcause artos announced an upcoming hardfork--to be implemented in the next couple of weeks. Here's the gist of what he said:Quote

This hardfork will feature a revamp of the difficulty adjustment algorithm and it's goal is to prevent the high difficulty stallouts caused by multipools. It will also reduce the amount of orphans and rejects that miners are seeing. This will result in a more steady block flow, and increased profitability for steady SBC miners. A full change log will be posted upon release.
