Yeah, unfortunately I bought many many ShareCoins
I had absolutely no reason not to trust in this project, since the exchange is taking special skills to be developed like this and Zip had some nice plans.
I don't see how stealing ~100 BTC will cover for any of that and the potential of the exchange on the long term.
That's why I can't understand.

Indeed it was a bad decision because his deposit got frozen on Poloniex so he cannot sell the stolen altcoins.

So it's bad for you and bad for him.

You cannot even get back the frozen coins because you have no way of proving it was yours. Poloniex is the winner Wink

Wait... Unless... Poloniex is part of the scam... Cheesy

This is the best explaination I imagine to explain the behavior of Zip (posted here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7143428 )

I am thinking that it was probably a spur of the moment thing. ShareXCoin probably was not intended to be a scam from very beginning.  But after seeing the sheer amount of Qora and other altcoins he had in his hands, Zip realized his power, got greedy and succumb to temptation.  He realized he could manipulate the price easily since he was the largest holder.  Based on the blockexplorer info, he had over 450 million or 5% of qora at one point (It would be very tempting for anyone to do a short trade in his position, I suppose). Smiley  He got too smart for his own good.

Now in retrospect, I guess there was a reason why zip wanted to be the first exchange to trade qora.

Also, remember that, by being the exchange operator, he had the power to observe every player's trading pattern (how much every Qora player has in his account and is willing to trade, and how low price he could push on Poloniex).

The problem was the users.  Smiley We gave him too much power without vetting the person first.   Cry

this is the only explanation that makes sense to me as well. Cause in my opinion he put in way too much work for it to have been a scam from the beginning. Someone with so much ability would probably be better off actually developing a trustworthy exchange than with such a stupid scam. However, it might have become too much for him and thus this. I don't know.

The temptation was too irresistible and finally has succumbed to greed   Wink

I don't believe yet it was a scam...
But if it was...

AsiaCoin - lost ~10 BTC
ShareCoin - have around 27 BTC in it

hm......

Can a fucker play like this?
I have his IP, but still...kinda useless

damn, even you, you don't have a way to contact him ?

well, now I'm starting to understand why zip wanted to work alone... If I had enough programming skill, I just would like to create a new exchange to make the thing back, it seems really dead now

These scammers are destroying the crypto community for a few BTCs.
Unless the community wakes up and do something, the altcoin markets will soon be a thing in the past.
It won't be such a bad solution. After all there will only be a Bitcoin, and we are at this vry monent, part of the process to make that happen.
Totally agree.
Lets have some more scammers and get it done with the altcoin market.  Cheesy

Now the crypto insurance service MOST WANTED to defend ordinary clients from scammy new businesses.

rates would be stupidly high. reagulamentation is the only solution
what is funny is that lots of people want true anonymity implemented into the coins.
One can see at least one side effect of that: With true anonymity, no more busoni freezing account over suspicious fund movement.

Do you still want this ?
True anonymity will make life of scammer much easier

Exchanges will not be centralized in the very near future
I think NXT is solving this problem with the asset exchange feature

EDIT: NXT above

the community lol... stop trusting unknown users and start thinking by yourself.
And like in real life when something is too good to be true... well it is likely a scam.
When a dev ask you to put all the sharecoin you bought into "his" exchange because it will get you twice the interest generated by the coin ( Grin )and/or to buy worthless FeeShare at high price, just say no and run away from that scam (main reason I did it...)

Sorry but this one, people who get burned here didn't try to read all the tell-tale signs which were around.
(and because some previously unknown user told he had bought millions of feeshares/Sharecoin and was insulting everyone against the coin... )

But Hey Bernard Madoff had is scam running for over 20years... so yeah sometime it is difficult to know  Grin

This guy is not completely anonymous and is  still traceable.
But the question is, what are you going to do about it?
Probably nothing  Cheesy

So it doesnt make much difference whether we have anonymity or not
There were lately a few case where it was possible to block coin devs from dumping his premine (purecoin and also
an other coin which has some hidden premine and was taken over)

I never did want anonymity. crypto community started in religious-kind of anarcocap scene, and those early devs are still centralizing the crypto community. the earlier regulamentation comes, the better
