Anew
Silkcoin was released on May 9, 2014.  Within a month Silkcoin had been listed on every major exchange, was trading tremendously well, and had a good strong community backing it. The promises of innovative wallets and implementation of new technology by the developers were always on time and communication was excellent. Silkcoin, it seemed, was destined for great things. Unfortunately on June 24, 2014, the original Silkcoin developers decided to abandon the community and its investors in a shameless display of confusion and greed.
Silkcoin was reborn on July 4, 2014. By way of Silkcoin’s strong community the destruction of the previous developers has been eliminated. Silkcoin has been redesigned, restructured, and thoroughly made into the best cryptocurrency available on the market today. With this community, Silkcoin will reach its revolutionary destination.

Here is a very rough draft for SC community to review. Comments/suggestions please. Thanks.

And in response.

Yes.  This is a living breathing organism, an analogy of a baby camel cast to the desert to fend for itself.  To stand strong and proud and fight injustice and to grow with stamina and pace. It will not stop.
It is the evolution of humankind.

 Crypto needs to stop fighting.
 Crypto It is a gift.
  A gift wrapped in Silk.

Hi everyone,

Arteleis posted:
"I believe in crypto there are 2 very active classes:
  1. Dreamers, programmers turned to gods,  speculators, visionaries, true believers of being free to trade and hold commodities of their choice etc. grassroot folk like me
  2. Businesses, corporations, trusts, fulltime day traders, governments, banks, global powers, greed, corruption etc etc.."

Some background:

I study epidemiology and biological systems and firmly believe in simplexity.
Hans Rosling (among others) had an impact on me and I now find myself seeing everything, including human technology, as part of an "organic" system.
I believe that our technology is a function of, and directly related to population growth.

How this relates to Bitcoin.

Like Moore's law and the paradigm shifts that happen to make the graph follow true, I think Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is something that had to happen at this time.
Cryptocurrency is effectively a means of communication and a result of media change from printing to digital. It is all part and parcel of the internet revolution.

I believe the crypto that will be most successful is the one which involves the most people in design.
Bitcoin is the foundation and we have a lot of open source developers experimenting with different altcoins.
This is a natural process and Darwin would be happy to give you an explanation of how the one that fits the best, will be the one to survive.
All of this is happening relatively haphazardly and there are a few people reinventing the wheel (or in this case the "Proof of" system) again and again.

How this relates to Silkcoin.

With the implosion of the original dev team, suddenly an opportunity was born.
Like having a baby camel and then leaving it out in the desert, it could die (like many other cryptos), or start fending for itself and survive.
In my opinion, so far only Bitcoin and Nxt have truly managed to make the leap from nurtured cryptos to independent survivors.

We are in the early stages of seeing this process happening with Silkcoin as well.
With tools like trello, github, lucidchart and social networking (this forum for example) we can truly have a community developing an open source coin.

Why Silkcoin?

There is a foundation to work on, an evolution of Bitcoin to PoS via Blackcoin.
It is already on exchanges.
It is cheap enough to buy in and have a stake large enough to make it personally important. (With 2 BTC you can buy 1% of the supply at present.)
There is a symbol, a mascot and a background story.
The process has already started and is gaining momentum.

The infrastructure needed:

A way to reward people for developing the code.
A way to reward people for developing the ecosystem. (PR, marketing and adoption.)
Tools of communication and structure between the different sectors of contribution.

Thanks to numerous contributors, Arteleis and others, we are already seeing this starting to take place.
There was mention of splitting donations into different escrow services and spreading the services wide enough that the failure or death of one would not pose a threat to the ongoing growth of the rest.
There was a plan for development of a voting system to direct the growth and help communication.

Online and trustless voting, trading, communication, identity: these are all things cryptocurrencies promise to revolutionize.

I would be glad to donate money into an escrowed fund to motivate further development.
What I would like to see is a voting and communication system built into the wallet and reviewed by an independent, respected software engineer or developer.
One of the things I would like to vote on is the creation of an inbuilt fund for further development.
This fund can grow by community donation and the interest raised by PoS can be paid out to contributors as per the community vote (also as an inbuilt function of the wallet).

Like Arteleis, I think I would fit into category 1 mentioned in his post.

Imagine if people were rewarded Bitcoin, not for being lucky in a hashing race of supercomputers, but by community decree for being useful to the ecosystem.
This is what I wish for Silkcoin.

TLDR:
We are building something here.
Thanks everyone involved.
Communication is the key.
I will help pay for voting to be built into the wallet.
I will vote to pay developers.

As far as google chat is concerned.  I honestly thought it was stupid and probably unsecure to a moderate level hacker.
But.  In the interest of transparency. There is nothing that has been said in the gchat thread that would give anyone any impression other then honest development and truthful actions.  We are not fearful of being exposed or possibly losing our identities.
The writing is on the wall.  In the hangout lol

Of course it is a potential danger to expose true identity in this den of wolves and trolls, extortionists, liars and thieves so it would be good to protect the identity of those who chose to do so.  It is crypto after all.

Has anyone ever used lucid charts? https://www.lucidchart.com
Very simple, powerful, collaborative way of team flowcharting and organization.

I dont mind paying for team usage.

This could be used in conjunction with trello, google chat and github.

For 10 users its 42 a month.   I think 42 is a very good number, and have no problem paying for 10 users.   I think we could make leaps and bounds in tidying up the leagues of information on trello, and coordinate precise action with specific time frames.

  Please review.

I don't think identities of the people or person that controls key assets of development and/or funding should be revealed. I would in fact feel less safe as an investor if this was revealed than if everyone remained completely anonymous. There have been precedents of people who have been brutally harassed, threatened or got their funds and control over the coin extorted from them.

SILK. All the cool kids are buying it.
I would like to be part of the PR team. I can also do proofreading, ediiting, composition as that is my job, experience ific data and methods, but still relevant skills. Can we set up a PR group and get an aggressive campaign going once devs have all wallets perfected? I am talking about website submissions, news sites, mailings, even going to a baseball game and handing out cards. Make SC a household name and the press will follow as will the price.

I like the way you think.  Yes. We definitely need a PR team and bounce some ideas around.  I see lots of potential ideas we can submit for community approval.  Even members with no prior PR experience can help immensely.  There's at least two of us with strong writing/publishing background that can tweak and polish our content.
(Hey.   Don't judge my posts.  I type on a tiny phone with a twisted sense of auto correct humor.)

We can get with our devs for approval to organize and work in tandem with the other departments.

Yes, suit and sandals for sure! Maybe a business plan was too strong of a word as I sure do not want to imply that a corporate world of SC is the way to go. I meant a good overall plan to suit the community and outline what is to be implemented and guidelines as to when. Basically a more detailed/structured flowchart. If SC is to grow then the community needs to state what is to be done and get it done within a reasonable amount of time. Trust is important and doing what you say you are going to do and then do it will be of tremendous help in this stab-you-in-the-back, pump-n-dump, new coin every week world we are in.

UPWARD!!!

Thanks arteleis! I have been working on the SC rebirth paper and I think maybe I got ahead of myself. What do you guys think about running SC like a business of sorts? I can come up with a business plan first and then once all wallets/necessary projects are in perfect order, then do the so-called SC press release. Opinions on this? It would be one of the first cryptocurrencies to have a business plan, etc. to my knowledge. Would definitely demonstrate to investors/others that SC is VERY serious about its name/business and goal of being at least equal to BTC if not better than BTC one day. Thoughts, suggestions???

I belive in crytpo there are 2 very active classes.
  1. dreamers, programmers turned to gods,  speculators, visionaries, true believers of being free to trade and hold commodities if their choice etc. grassroot folk like me
  2. Businesses, corporations, trusts, fulltime day traders, governments, banks, global powers, greed, corruption etc etc

I think a merge of both worlds would be in order.  Ive never made a business plan though, always just pulled things around me and put them in order.  My girlfriend hates me sometimes as i literally scroll through my mind at posts and thoughts, ideas and flowcharts..  haha I KNOW this is not the correct way to do things.

In my opinion crypto is not corporate but a movement that extends to the ideals of being free and anonymouse if chosen.
This does not mean that anonymous contributions should be excluded if under the scope of true transparency.  They should be scrutinized equally to the contributions of the transparent identities if that is persoanlly chosen.

That all being said, a professionally done plan, would be absolutely essential and im sure much appreciated.
    In my opinion, suit AND sandals.  (-;

The most important thing is transparency.

That people know who is in charge, who the DEV team members are in real life

I'm working on a Silk Team section for the ANN, which will include the screen-names, real names, photo/avatar and national flag for anybody who's OK being identified. Obviously the more on board the better!

I was hoping to have it templated last night along with a few more sections (multipool/merchants/design guide/etc..), but caught up with something else. Will tackle again tonight  Smiley

Ben

Most of my info is on my profile here, but I am on Facebook, LinkedIn, and others. If you need any other information, let me know. Good to hear you are working on this, more transparency is awesome!

I think full transparency should be made for a select team of individuals who then know the full id's of everyone else. Some individuals might not want their name all over threads, websites, etc. for work, whatever....doesn't matter. Better to have a designated team for the face of SC rather that every single person who has ever done anything with SC to have their information out there. I would like to be part of this team so I have already disclosed my full id. If something were to go horribly wrong, then their ids would be revealed. Just my thoughts on it. Either way I have disclosed mine so my vote on this matter is minimal.
