PHS 50% PoS - Stop mining start minting

Development Update

Hi,

Work on the API/exchanges has been going steady and is working GREAT for UNIX! , sadly windows is another story: as we are having multiple serious issues, not to mention being unable to build SC on Qt 5 at all on win32. This may require large code re-writes.

I know everyone wants to see daily progress but stabilizing the client was priority one, and now work can continue on fixing quality of life issues like APIs, in client function, etc.

Thanks!

Ps also each client/update must be tested and work on multiple operating systems (this adds more lead time on any new development)

The Murraycoin Project ▪ Lead Developer
I'm going to continue to get caught up on everything here and sift through the additional PMs I have received. As has been mentioned, I have never requested any funds be sent my way nor have I chosen to mislead anybody in any way. MEGAman and JudgeCrypto each voluntarily sent me 0.5 BTC which I will gladly return to them in the event that I cannot pull my weight here.

The bottom line is that I am extremely busy (I am a very hands-on co-founder of an Internet startup with tens of thousands of customers) and, unfortunately, that has to take priority over everything else. Beyond that, I have my own coin which I have been neglecting a bit due to the work I've been putting into SilkCoin. I was pulled away for travel for several days and I did pass along some info to MEGAman to report in the thread on my behalf (unfortunately, his update wasn't very complete). As soon as I returned, I made a post here announcing my return and my intention to fulfill my promise to deliver an all-new client. I have dedicated over 12 hours just to the development of the new client - keep in mind that nobody has successfully built a PoS coin on the latest Bitcoin Core source (at least not to my knowldege). After catching up on over 50 PMs (many of them with an angry/violent tone) and reading through the thread to get caught up I saw that there is a repaired client in-place and a team had been assembled in my absence. I figured you guys had it under control and could hold down the fort while I took my time to finish the new client (the emergency before was to get something out and get the exchanges back online - now that it has been handled by other members of the community, the urgency is somewhat lessened). I understand members of the crypto community tend to have short attention spans and need to continue to see progress - I'm doing what I can. As I mentioned in my "return" note, this is a holiday weekend (I live in the United States - July 4th is Independence Day here) and I wanted to spend it with my family.

I have a number of obligations (hence the reason I only ever intended to lead this takeover temporarily) and it's absolutely important to me to get this thing up and rolling. I attached my name to this project for no other reason than wanting to help save this (primarily) awesome community. The hatred that continues to be sent in my direction is both ridiculous and irritating. I have put a lot of time and energy into reading all of your messages, getting this comeback rolling, and writing code for the new client and I have asked for nothing in return.

Yes - I deleted an inflammatory post in the Murraycoin thread by "psychocoin" which accused me of being a liar/etc. The post had nothing to do with Murraycoin and was the first thing I saw when I returned from my trip. Negative attitudes and jerks certainly cast a dark shadow over the altcoin world but they aren't going away and sometimes the best way to handle them is to just ignore them and push forward. I left town for 4 days and returned to an entire inbox full of hate mail; this is crazy.

Now I'm working on determining the best way to assist the team and trying to get a feel on the direction the community wants to go with this. If it doesn't make sense for me to be on board or if it's decided I'm not a good fit that's fine - I'm not looking to get in the way here. All I know is that people like "psychocoin" do nothing but incite panic, kill motivation, and just create a toxic environment where the optimism and enthusiasm begins to vaporize. It's important to keep things on-point, productive, and keep making progress.

I intend to follow through on everything I promised and, like I said, if that doesn't work out for whatever reason I will certainly return the funds I received to the two individuals that voluntarily sent them to me. I cannot stress enough that I never asked for anything here - my intentions were (and still are) 100% genuine, for what it's worth.

Heres a crappy meme.  Im glad other people have done better, but I felt the occasion needed some additional fluffers.

AMAZING!  I'm going to be starting an instagram today.  Was looking at funny camel pics yesterday..  the bank on this is ridiculous and endless. Think camel meme's well.. could go viral.

I believe Beholzer can do it. He's putting in the time and effort and thats shows a lot.
Just to clear this up.  Bholzer is not working on this project currently to anyones knowledge.

He was working on it according to all the other threads he made and posted in 2 days ago. Is he no longer part of it???

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=664918.877

He said in his post that he is not only working on it, but invested his own money into purchasing some SilkCoin now.  Seems like now that he's got a stake in the financial future of the coin, he would be forthcoming with updates and assistance.

That would be good as he has already recieved donations from megaman and judgecrypto for the amount of 1 btc to help with the project.  Unfortunatley nobody in the silk community has had any contact despite multiple attempts.  If he wishes to collaborate that would be great, but presently there is no active line of communication.

As well, The new client he proposed with new bitcoin core could seriously jeopardize the security of silkcoin.  BC has a great group of developers and we should be thankful that they act swiftly on any problems that might arise.  With the new bitcoin core, this is not the case.  If there was an unknown bug in the new client, well... We would be fucked.

This is why we are currently working on improving the present client, until at which point the polling site is up, then the community will decide on the future changes and risks chosen.

This doesn't reference to what you mention.

He said in his post that he is not only working on it, but invested his own money into purchasing some SilkCoin now.  Seems like now that he's got a stake in the financial future of the coin, he would be forthcoming with updates and assistance.
Then, how come he...
  • Hasn't proven his stake in the coin? Anyone can just claim to have bought x million coins, it's meaningless
  • Doesn't communicate with the SILK Team on the collaboration platform Trello or any other way known to me at all? There clearly are 2 developers who actually ARE working on and releasing fixes and he has no interest in acknowledging that?
  • Hasn't posted anything whatsoever in the official ANN? No progress updates for the release or any of his other promises. Not so much as a 'hi, I'm still alive'.
all while being online and posting elsewhere at the same time? That is just indecent and disrespectful towards the SILK community.

If any of his last known claims were true, he wouldn't just ignore the above issues for the sake of his (supposed) investment in SILK, his reputation and credibility (which wasn't that incredible to begin with, I don't know why everyone got their panties wet before anything substantial was actually delivered, not just promised).

Naturally, Murraycoin will soon hit the scam coin lists. One sign of that I can point out - a couple days ago I posted on the Murraycoin thread asking him not to ignore his commitment to SILK and you can guess what happened. My post was deleted within minutes (if needed - I can post a screenshot of the automated message I got sent which informed me of the deletion). "I wonder, why?" Try to do the same thing I did and I'm sure you'll get the same result.

At this point, though, do we even give a shit? The only he thing he did manage to do was rounding up the remaining SILK supporters, filling them with much needed hope and inspire many others to form a team and contribute in any way they can. So now, to my knowledge we have two other great devs who don't throw bullshit claims and empty promises around and still deliver the updates that we need.

In the cut-throat cryptocoin world, there is no excuse for blatantly, repeatedly avoiding communication and addressing IMPORTANT ISSUES AND QUESTIONS from people after you convinced them to TRUST and DEPEND on you. If not for the enthusiastic people behind the coin now, people would be left naked with nothing but the bags they hold after your promises enticed them to keep them or invest more.

"Being busy" (supposedly; we cannot verify that) excuses are not helping - if he bit off more than he could chew that is his own fault - who takes on projects they can't deliver? People who enjoy scamming or wasting people's time. Could I be exaggerating, could this all would be a misunderstanding and he will shortly appear and convince everyone that he gives a shit? Snowball's chance in hell.

I bet he is done for and he knows it. It would be a miracle if he ever so much as shows his face around SILK again. He could be a man and admit he fucked up and perhaps Murraycoin community would not take this personally, as he didn't abandon them, to be fair.

I'm sure Bishop and Detroit are doing a great job regardless of what bholzer are doing or not and fixing all the bugs from old amateur dev
