Gregor Novak, CEO of SunContract and head of innovation and development at SunContract SONCE energija, received special recognition at the Radeče Health center ceremony last night for our contribution in the professional and investment field of the Radeče Health center.
Last year, SONCE energija set up a solar power plant on the roof of a health center to cover the electricity needs in the center of Radeče town. We connected it last Friday and took care of the first self-sufficient city center in Slovenia:

The SunContract is a platform that directly connects energy producers and consumers into an energy pool based on smart contracts. The blockchain takes over the role of the middleman
as a trusted technology infrastructure. Blockchain technologies are implemented into existing energy distribution systems without previously changing the general energy regulatory framework.
We already developed a pilot project for use on a national level. On April 1st, live trading with energy started in Slovenia as a first open energy market. The first customers on the SunContract platform are called Pioneers and are a valuable feedback for further expansion of services and improvement of customer experience. Expected expansion will happen in 2019 with priority in EU markets due to similar regulation across the European Union.

With new EU law's for renewable energy, SunContract could get 'boosted' ecosystem with more countires ahead.

In February, SONCE energija, our exclusive partner in Slovenia, connected a larger power plant, 475 kW to the network, the layout of which was entrusted to them by Kongrad Igem form Dravograd. In three months, its solar power plant has produced so much that it has directly covered 66 % of its energy needs.
The company spent so much immediately on their own take-off, which means they also saved extra on network charges because they didn't take the electricity off the network. The remaining 34% of the energy produced went on sale at our SunContract marketplace, where direct P2P agreements with other customers further increased the return on electricity produced, according to the agreed contract price.
Definitely a win-win situation.
