The official pool is a p2pool, correct?

Also, when exactly when will this go up?  The pool that is.

probably be the first pool to go up as soon as launch occurs or atleast that's what I would hope being that its p2pool and hosted by the dev team Smiley

I believe they mentioned it will be 30 minutes after launch before it's ready.

@hashstrike   gonna be up and running @ 9pm? all is good?

http://syncoin.hashrapid.com is paying close attention and prepared, I know that.  Hashrapid operator is in #syncoin freenode IRC.  You can chat with him there.
~100/Mhs easy at the start with just the people in IRC, then add all the other people who have already signed up in pools...
Solo mining might be a bit difficult  Wink

Also, don't forget about
http://syn.validerrorpool.com
http://syn.hashstrike.com
Trigeek from hashstrike is in IRC too.

I just read through this forum. Its amazing how many idiots out there can not figure out how to tell time based on someone posting a timezone of the launch.  Decided to mine this basically because I like the idea of this coin.  Script to start, then autoswitch to script N.   Also you can tell the dev is a smartass, and there very active I like it.

The conf file in the zip is missing the port (the conf file wasn't password protected) is this intended?

Can you help me with the wallet setup on linux mint 64bit ?

cd ~/
git clone https://github.com/syncoin-project/syncoin
cd ~/syncoin/src
qmake-qt4 USE_UPNP=-
make

cd ~/
git clone https://github.com/syncoin-project/syncoin
cd ~/syncoin
qmake-qt4 USE_UPNP=-

This will build the QT or GUI if your new to linux

If you want to build the syncoind (no gui, just runs in terminal) you would use

cd ~/
git clone https://github.com/syncoin-project/syncoin
cd ~/syncoin/src
make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-

Thx ! Bring it on!!

are we able to mine directly from the wallet with cpu with no additional setup?

just open the console and input:   setgenerate true   HuhHuhHuh

Yes, however this is highly inefficient (even at the first stages of the coin). I would recommend you mine with a pool. When phase2 rolls around I'll explain how mining will have to change to accommodate the built-in ASIC resistance. Don't worry, the client is programmed to handle the fork seamlessly.

I'm a little confused..

Will I be able to mine this, just like any other Scrypt coin? (Such as litecoin, earthcoin etc.)
Or will I need to modify my .conf differently? I don't want to be going crazy at the last minute trying to figure it out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Yes and no. Eventually you'll have to switch out your old scrypt miner and use a scrypt-N miner (either the ones provided by VertCoin or the ones I'll provide to the community). But that's in June.

Also... you should have a different conf for each coin because they connect to different node servers... o.O

Syncoin, thanks for the respond.

Sorry, I mean't the .bat file (or .conf file in linux which is my case.), could I use the same settings as with any other scrypt coin? Or do I need change something different?  The .conf file with the nodes I won't be messing with so I'm planning to mine via a pool.

Here are my current settings:

{
"pools" : [
    {
                "url" : "http://xxx.xxxxx.org:3336",
                "user" : "xxxx.1",

                "pool-priority" : "0"
        }
]
,

"temp-target" : "75,75,75,75",

"worksize" : "256,256,256,256",

"lookup-gap" : "2,2,2,2",
"thread-concurrency" : "11200,11200,11200,11200",
"shaders" : "2048,2048,2048,2048",
"gpu-engine" : "1080,1080,1080,1080",
"gpu-fan" : "30-95,30-95,30-95,30-95",

"submit-stale" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",

Or I'll be able to keep the settings above and all I simply have to do is switch from my scrypt miner (bfgminer) to a scrypt N miner (such as the one provided from vertcoin)?

Sorry I'm new to the whole scrypt N thing and trying to understand it. Thanks in advance.

Ahhh... yes you can keep the conf file when the transition occurs, BUT I recommend tweaking it afterwards (variable N can do some funky things to GPU thread-concurrency performance curves).
