FYI... Amazon has stock on those gigabyte 270X cards again.  Seems like that guy is just churning through inventory.  I'm halfway tempted to buy another 6.... sooooo tempting.

Damn Fedex is a day minumum behind the two other deliveries coming today.  All ordered same day, but Fedex is shipping the MBs and PSUs.  I hate Fedex.

Broke down and grabbed some VisionTek and Sapphire 270x's to give them a shot. I'll only open one of each and see if I like them, and if not, Amazon will take them all back haha..

Now that I've used most of my available giftcards, with my luck the other cards I've been wanting will come in stock.. hahaha

The goal is to put 5 of these into the ASRock 970EX4 motherboard and reach 2.3-2.5mh using less than 950watts.

EDIT - How are you fellows getting your GPU's to run at TC24,000... I cannot get a single card of mine to run at that speed... max is TC22,400 if I am lucky... I am not specifying shaders, work size, lookup gap, nothing... except TC24,000... and every time I get a memory error on every machine and every card...

Here is an example of my batch file...

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://tag.cryptopool.it:3338 -u tagging.1 -p x --thread-concurrency 24000 -I 13 --gpu-fan 75-85 --auto-fan --temp-target 83 --temp-overheat 84 --temp-cutoff 90 --gpu-memclock 1500 --auto-gpu --gpu-engine 350-1040  --gpu-powertune 20 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale -o stratum+tcp://tagmining.com:3333 -u 24Kilo.1 -p x

Do I not have enough RAM... 2GB of DDR3 1333... not enough power... 750W - 35A per rail... this even happens with a single card set-up... I am using Windows 7... no idea... cgminer will not even start.

I am using auto-gpu to help with overheating... but that does not seem to make a difference... any advice?Huh

System ram doesn't have much to do with scrypt mining, and your PSU is fine. I think I know which memory error you're referring to.. it relates to mapping the GPU memory, which relates to TC. Target TC is usually best determined by multiplying the card's bus width by 64. For most 7950's, the bus width is 384, so that times 64 is 24675. I would try that and then go down by 64 until you find something which works. 24512...24448..24384... etc.

Also before testing, I would make a backup copy of all the .bin files cgminer creates and set them aside somewhere, then I would delete them from the cgminer folder. This way cgminer is starting fresh. Next, make a startup config where you specify 0 for engine and memory clocks, let cgminer go with the default clock speeds until you find TC which works.

I would also try my scrypt.bin file once more at some point, especially since you're getting rid of all the .bin files in the cgminer folder during this testing. Put mine in there and set your engine to 1130 and memory to 1250 and TC to 24000, and see what it does.

Let us know how it all goes.

To answer the previous post from 24kilo. The only card that I can get to run at TC 24000 is my 270x.  My 7xxx cards will not run happily at that TC.  I find 16384 is the sweet spot for my 7950's and my 7850's are happiest at 8192.

24kilo... I've been meaning to ask, why are you propping up a tiny pool?  You are virtually solo mining there.  It wouldn't be because of the fees, I'm sure Fuse has you on "mates rates" here... I know we Aussies like to go for the underdog but that is really stretching it  Shocked

I resisted the urge to buy a few 270X's today... need to finish the 2x280X rig I am building before starting another project.

I saw those cards earlier, but I can't choke $30 or more over MSRP when prime has them for $209 usually.

I hear you on that, man.  I was a little ticked that I had to go that route and pay shipping.  But I'm happy I did it.  With all the BTC Gyft orders I've made recently, the amount of bonus Gyft points was enough to reduce the cost to the point that it was like buying them prime, if not less.  Gotta love Gyft.

I think it will be big just because of the media attention that his lawyers are pouring into it.

Time, WSJ, Washington Post, etc., etc., etc.... all reporting on this.  I think the initial launch will be very much like Doge, where there will be a ton of hype, and a large following just to see how this will pan out with his lawyers over the next few weeks.

So I'm going to throw some hashing power at it for shits and giggles for a day or two.  A day of mining isn't going to kill me.  But if it goes big, it'll be well worth the days effort.

Just a heads up... I'll be pulling my miners to mine Coinye tonight and maybe tomorrow.  I hate Kanye West, and this coin has already been reported on TheVerge.Com, the Wall Street Journal, RapGenius, etc.  Pure pump & dump.  It starts at 7PM PST... so heads up Smiley

Just read this... shaking head... shall we all hit it hard?

Is this thing worth even wasting hash-rate on it?

Hmmm... I am on my way today to pick up my order of 280X's... maybe I need to pick-up a few 270X's as well... maybe build my first 3 card miner... that sounds like fun!!!

Checking the stock of my local MSY now... it's all your fault John!!!

EDIT - The big news could that the 270X's run cooler... a lot cooler and cooling is a big issue for me and probably for you as well, John... if the 270X's run 10C cooler without any aftermarket cooler or risers... that is even more economical... what is the concensus... Fuse... do you have anything to report? Cooling a huge for me... I have a few of my 280X's throttled back to keep them running under 84C on these last few hot days.

The one I have is still in the 490's and enjoying itself at 60 or 61C. The room its in is 24C. They definitely run cooler, especially since they're pulling 175w max vs the 340-350w the 280x's are pulling. With the stock cooler I bet it would be a good choice for you. If you can get your hands on 1 to 3 of them, do so. You can always hotbox test it yourself Wink

I'm ready to buy like 4 or 6 or 10 of them, but all I have is amazon gift cards and amazon is sold out lol.

Bought 5 of these today... shipped already.  You're paying for shipping, but they have stock.

EDIT- it's reporting 8 in stock.  There were over 30 units 3 hours ago.

My order comes in over the next couple of days with most of the GPUs coming Friday/Monday.  So I'll need to get it all set up, and I'll let you know.  I'll be running 3 cards on the MB, a ASUS M5A99FX PRO, with a Cooler Master V1000 PSU.

And here is me thinking that the 270x cards were my little secret as value for money cards!  I picked up a Sapphire Vapor 270x a few weeks ago and was happy with it hashing at 460kh/s.  I took vespers tip and increased the thread concurrency from 15232 to 24000.  Bang! I'm up to 493kh/s with virtually no extra current draw.  It's running happily at 63 degrees C at 74% fan speed with 2 other cards spinning away next to it.  Smiley

There must be something different about the new X series card that benefits from such a high TC.  I've got a 7850 which is also a Pitcairn card that gains virtually nothing running it higher than 8192.  Even my 7950 Tahiti's aren't really interested in anything higher than 16384.

Glad my post helped you out a little bit Smiley

These cards are a smidge different, they seem to favor 24000 TC and/or higher speeds. What's strange is it seems they all like engine speeds in the mid 1000's-1100's regardless of brand or chip, as if there's something in them which can be unlocked.

I'd been hearing faint rumors for awhile now that AMD had a tiny subdivision working on scrypt-focused ASIC cards. If it's true, it would be revolutionary. Makes me wonder if they're letting some of that code into the wild in these cards, with how they're performing. All rumors of course, but makes you wonder.

Of course, now that I want to pickup like 10 or 12 of these 270X's, i can't find them anywhere.

Although this kind of information gets old quickly. I sold some TAG to make some BTC, to buy some hardware, to mine more TAG.

I did the same thing today.  9 x 270Xs and all the fixings to run them.  Looking forward to trying to catch up to you guys finally.

HUZZAH!

Congrats man Cheesy

Ideally I would deploy these in groups of 5.

What motherboard and PSU will you use?

Here in Australia PSU are expense... think $200AUD plus for a good 850W and around $400AUD for anything decent over 1000W. This is why I have been sticking to 2 X 280X rigs which work very well on the $149AUD Antec 750W PSU's that I have been getting. A Corsair HX750 is $215AUD.

Are you running the scrypt.bin file that you posted?

I've been exploring the ASRock 970 Ex4's extra pcie slots, the 1x. It has 3 x16 slots, and 2 1x slots. I've successfully plugged a card into them and mined. For BAMT to use all 5, I have to tweak the driver setup a little bit. So I'm going to explore that some, mainly to run 4 GPU's because my PSU preference won't handle more than that.

If I have to, I could move to the ASrock which supports 4-5 GPU's by default. There's a place I can get them for about $160.

As for PSU, I've been trying out 1050w units, specifically Corsair HX/AX and Thermalteke TPG-1050M. I'm going to grab the Seasonic 1050 once I get more GPUs.

I do have the scrypt file loaded on all of my copies of BAMT, but it doesn't do anything for the 270's as it's designed for the Tahiti series chips (280x/79xx), and the 270x series is the Pitcairn.
