Cryptopia update

The Ubiq team (specifically @xocel) had set up real-time alerts to monitor the Cryptopia Ubiq and Ubiq Token funds addresses. We recently saw some funds moving. The good new is that Cryptopia staff confirms they are making these transfers so all Ubiq and Ubiq Tokens should be unaffected by the Cryptopia security breach.

On a related note, all the developers with commit and upload access to the Github Ubiq repositories (https://github.com/ubiq) must have 2FA enabled to help prevent issues such as compromised accounts and malware wallets being uploaded.

If you are involved with other coins and wallets, make sure they have similar measures in place! If you are trusting the wallets running on your machines, you are trusting in the security of the developers!

pyrus looks like pure copy of eth.Is it only me to  see it ?

when claiming with Pyrus you can select a function of the contract and there are some simmilar to each other
I did it with "claim" and it worked for me, checked on the link, thanks

Mining reward drop

Full Noder

The Full Noder is going along really well. Many community members have started up SBC nodes which is great. Mentioned recently in #ubiq-miners: We went below 100 nodes showing up in the stats site after the hard fork (some pools didn’t upgrade) but now we are back over :100:.
Ubiq was always designed with node resources in mind. Not all chains can run happily on a RPi.

Cryptopia

Sadly Cryptopia has suffered a security breach with loss of funds. Investigations are currently happening so I won't add anything speculative.

Cryptopia has been a strong supporter of Ubiq and the crypto community. Their in-house token (as well as others) DOT runs on Ubiq.

On some positive news, the addresses for the main Ubiq and Ubiq token funds on Cryptopia have not moved so it is likely they will not be effected by the breach.

New "Full Noder" role in Discord

A new "Full Noder" role has been created. If you run a full node, you can apply to have this role added to your Profile by a Moderator.

What Is A Full Node?

A full node is a program that fully validates transactions and blocks. Almost all full nodes also help the network by accepting transactions and blocks from other full nodes, validating those transactions and blocks, and then relaying them to further full nodes.

Most full nodes also serve lightweight clients by allowing them to transmit their transactions to the network and by notifying them when a transaction affects their wallet. If not enough nodes perform this function, clients won’t be able to connect through the peer-to-peer network—they’ll have to use centralized services instead.

Many people and organizations volunteer to run full nodes using spare computing and bandwidth resources—but more volunteers are needed to allow Ubiq to continue to grow.

Escher Airdrop #4

Airdrop #4 claim contract has been deployed. You can submit a claim between blocks 705000 and 735000. Valid claims will receive 2 ESCH for every 1 UBQ held in their claim address at block 735000.

The second Ubiq block reward reduction will take place at block 716,727.

This will happen in approximately two weeks, dropping the reward from 7 UBQ per block to 6 UBQ, reducing inflation from 6% to 4.89%.
