Congratulations to the CP team,

Few questions please:

1) in a new coindesk article it says that all 3 of you are moving away from the CP project and that an entire team is being sought. is it true or is it just two?

2) Is Medici going to be built based on the CP technology or on top of and as part of the CP platform? this is important to determine if this is really related or not to CP

3) what is the usage of XCP in this context? is the plan for it to still be the exclusive dividend token for medici and all its public companies as in all other projects?

Thank you

FF (still holding on to my originally burned XCPs)

The exchange will be built on top of counterparty, is that confirmed? Thats one of the biggest news ever, if true.

Confirmed.

Link? The Wired article says the coders have been hired, not that it is going to built on top of Counterparty.

I can confirm it. Patrick Byrne discussed the matter extensively in his talk at Inside Bitcoins, which is not yet online. Right now, there's just this.

Great. Finally, we are here. XCP - Bitcoin inside.

So, is overstock actually listing on XCP?

It seems they are building a decentralized stock market that will use Counterparty as the back end technology. In addition to that, there appears to be plans for O Coin which will be some sort of secondary stock offering of Overstock.com.

I'm certain Ryan Charles knows about Counterparty because Counterparty uses Insight, which he has worked on. https://github.com/bitpay/insight

That, combined with the Overstock news (which I'm guessing is coming from Patrick on the 6th), makes me confident that Counterparty will not be overlooked as a possible solution if Counterparty is in line with what they're looking for.

Sounds like this price swing should have been anticipated for the 6th,
not sure how i skimmed that in your post Sad

As an explanation, what this means is that Overstock.com has committed to using Counterparty as the platform for issuing securities on the Bitcoin blockchain, e.g. for public companies, over all other Bitcoin 2.0 tech. Robby (xnova) and Evan (cityglut) will be working on that particular goal, because of their expertise with Counterparty, even as we hire more developers to work with me full-time on the core protocol and ecosystem.
Thanks Adam for those clarifications!

So will that Overstock system be more like a public frontend other companies that want to go public or "dual list" their shares can use or will it be a non public enterprise version of Counterparty?

Remains the question: And XCP will have the same functions and value in that Overstock-System?

It'll be a frontend to the existing network, and it'll use XCP like everything else.
yhup yhup. I tend to super critical but this has my approval! Wink
Well done my friend!

And he’s committing between five and ten percent of Overstock’s cash flow—”single-digit millions”—to the company’s cryptosecurity project. “Building this—and being the company that owns this—can be more valuable than Overstock,” he says. “It can be more valuable than Alibaba.”
