Hi guys, the build system has been modified to work with Ubuntu 12.04 properly again, as well as Windows.

Just update counterpartyd_build to the newest version via get. Updated instructions are at: http://counterpartyd-build.readthedocs.org/en/latest/BuildingFromSource.html
(for Linux, you'll just need to update from git and rerun).

Please report any technical issues with it to [email protected], or our Skype chat channels.

It has been requested that I should clarify my post. As I initial disclosed 'cfd camper' is a bot for exploiting a bug which I had found in the CFD implementation. The bug and the associated attack are limited entirely to 'CFD' type bets, no other protocol functionality is, or ever was at risk.

I have written a technical analysis of the bug and the associated attack, which can be found here: https://xcpfeeds.info/cfd_attack/

Actually for me XCP withdrawals from Bter have always taken a few minutes to show up on blockchain.info. I withdrew 900 XCP today and after it didn't show up on the blockchain after 5 minutes I knew something was wrong. I went to the deposit/withdrawal page and XCP is not even listed. So you are not the only one. I initiated a support ticket 7 hours ago and have not heard back. I am thinking either problems with counterpartyd on their end or worse a hack and they froze XCP withdrawals and are sorting things out before they announce anything. I hate centralized exchanges.

If I had to take a guess, I would think this has something to do with the latest updates/patches to counterpartD which addresses the CFD issue.
I went to their QQ support and they replied this : "Technical personnel reply to me:our web site XCP wallets need to upgrade , technical personnel has been the upgrade, will finish the upgrade before Beijing time late 19 points." At 7 o 'clock in the evening Beijing time. So let's wait for 6 more hours Sad

Hi, I bought some XCP on BTER about a few hours ago. 81.4xxx XCP worth 0.34BTCto be precise. I transferred them to the Counterwallet about 7 hours ago from BTER and they still haven't arrived there yet. I used one of the addresses provided in the wallet - 1QHVjcE7o5zfK9MYcaM9oHUTjAQmYQjy56. Normally, how long do they take to arrive in the counterwallet Huh Should I be worried Huh Are my XCP lost Huh
It shows 'Array' in the transaction ID in BTER Huh

Withdrawals from BTER usually do take a while, so you shouldn't be worried yet. If your XCP don't arrive in the next few hours, however, you should contact BTER support.

QA person needed

We're also looking for an individual to help with QA. The main responsibility is testing new releases (Counterwallet, counterpartyd, counterpartyd_build) before release, certifying that they pass/work for the supported OSes/browsers, and serving to track and file bug reports for any regressions. 1+ year similar, previous dev and/or QA experience of this nature is required.

Pay will be a mix of BTC and XCP. This is most likely part time position at first, but can easily go to a full time position in the next month or two. If you have experience writing selenium test suites, this will be a full time position immediately.

Please email [email protected] if interested, with your resume and some background on why you'd be good with this.

Hi guys, to deal with the increased support load, we've established a new email address - [email protected]

Please use this instead of [email protected] ..we've enlisted help from Sean (Janitor, on the forums), who will be assisting us to help take support cases, and improve the FAQs/docs from that.

hello, could I have a help. I was sending bitcoins from counterparty wallet to get storj ipo  and the computer stuck and I had to restart the computer. After restarting computer when i logged on again and  there was no transactions pending, no bitcions and and no storj , what should i do? Did i lose the money? Please help!

most probably your send succeeded, but you don't receive yet storjcoin. Please check the address with blockchain.info and blockscan.

Please do not check with blockscan, at least until I get the daemon running again. The latest update due to the CFD has broken my install even after attempting to install pip. Any assistance is of course appreciated

EDIT: Actually I see you're on windows. I'll have instructions soon for that. Assuming you already tried to rerun the setup script? Add me on Skype "xnovaxcp", and I can work with you interactively to resolve.

Try the following:

counterpartyd only, if using the build system manually (assuming that counterpartyd_build is installed into your home directory):
sudo ~/counterpartyd_build/env/bin/pip install --upgrade -r ~xcp/counterpartyd_build/dist/counterpartyd/pip-requirements.txt

If running a federated node:
sudo ~xcp/counterpartyd_build/env/bin/pip install --upgrade -r ~xcp/counterpartyd_build/dist/counterpartyd/pip-requirements.txt
sudo ~xcp/counterpartyd_build/env.counterblockd/bin/pip install --upgrade -r ~xcp/counterpartyd_build/dist/counterblockd/pip-requirements.txt

I figured this out... at last

Flask requires at minimum Python 3.3 and above. However, the minimum requirements prior to this was python 3.2 as per the counterparty install docs. I had to reinstall with 3.3 and it worked

I would recommend updating the docs to reflect this and also with new download links to the pre-reqs on the docs page

Cheers

Excellent. Ripper/Sean and I are working on a doc update for windows right now. Will be complete here shortly.

Yes, the docs were updated but didn't get merged to master prior to the release.
The issue was also posted:
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterpartyd/issues/207

Just wanted to know, is there any talk or even idea of moving the Counterparty onto a faster, less dependent on whims of th eCartel chain? There are a couple of PoS schemes which look promising. If  they prove robust enough over time is there a chance that we will move?

It's an FAQ
https://www.counterparty.co/resources/faqs/can-counterparty-work-on-blockchains-other-than-bitcoin/

IMO as long as fiat and virtual currencies are priced in BTC, it's impractical to run away from Da Blocartelchain. To exit and enter you need to use Da Blocartelchain.

Sure, I accept I was missing something beyond what was visible on this forum from the links Xnova posted. It rang an alarm bell seeing someone who I know's heavily involved and invested in the project having his posts deleted and being called out as a troll, and perhaps for the sake of PR if nothing else could have been handled better by both sides.

Isn't Porqupine the person behind XCPfeeds.info?

Yes.

Wow unless I'm missing something isn't it extremely arrogant of the XCP team to dismiss an intelligent senior member of Bitcointalk like this, He's clearly invested a lot of time and thought into this project and you seem to be deleting all his posts and branding him a troll.

The way porqupine presented the bug is false and unacceptable. Especially from a respected member who clearly invested a lot time in Counterparty: when a lot of people listen to you, you have to pay attention on each word you use. It's no only a semantical debate with no importance, and PP just make his job of lead developer, when he disagree with porqupine wording.
Everybody in the team, include PP, have a great respect for porqupine, his works and his words. But I personally think, that is no acceptable to declare a war because we disagree with the solution he proposed. It is unacceptable to want to convince us by force. Even if you try, retry and retry to convinced with words, if you do not succeed that not give you right to use 'violent' means. Especially when goals are the same for all of us: make Counterparty better.
