Bitcoin might split into 5 coins, so what about XCP? Are you forking into 5 coins, too? What about the assets in it? Now that BCC is ready to trade, I don't know how the authors of the subsequent XCP developed the forked bits.

Yes. Segwit enables sidechains. A Counterparty-specific one has been developed.

i have to admit that i did not care about counterparts. but after i took part in the NVO ICO i realised that this project is pretty cool. and after the next hack in the ETH universe i think its time that some ICOs switch to XCP.

Another sweep option was just launched.

The creator of freewallet.io (same person who owns Xchain and CoinDaddy) just pushed up a new version which supports importing private keys….. you can import the private key, then the address is then added to your address list. You can select the address and view all the balances, as well as perform any action send/issue/broadcast/sign

It returned an error code but the transaction went through.

The developer here. I'm working on a new tool that will be more stable and always give the right feedback. In the meanwhile, I recommend checking your address on xchain.io right after you (attempt to) sweep. It does a great job at tracking unconfirmed Counterparty transactions.

EDIT: The sweep tool did not actually fail. It returned an error code but the transaction went through. It can be found here: https://github.com/Jpja/Sweep-XCP-Paperwallet

I have a private key to a BTC address containing SJCX, but not a passphrase for an associated Counterparty wallet. The "sweep" function is commonly used in this case, but users have reported problems with it for some time: https://counterpartytalk.org/t/problems-sweeping/643/24

None of the solutions posed there or elsewhere worked for me.

So is there any other option for me than syncing the whole BTC blockchain or giving up my private key to someone who has?

I'd hoped to find a tool such as this that works: https://github.com/Jpja

Unfortunately the "sweep"  tool there also failed in my case.

Thanks.

Thank you for using Counterparty  Smiley

I'm sure you'll be happy to know that one of our most respected community members played the demo and liked it. She participated in the ICO too, I think.

You may check out the XCP Slack, Telegram and Counterpartytalk.

I will for sure.... thanks for the help. I believe I met her in the game as well, very cool to connect with the community leaders with my project  Grin

bter is not a scammer site but it is a pain in the ass to get money out from there. at least they are not claiming the money:)

at past i seriously struggled to take my money. some deposits and some withdrawal options are disabled. it seems like novadays xcp is disabled.

on twitter, i am seeing so many pepecash and xcp hype coming from chinese, korean and japanese people. i don't know if its just a regular pump but it seems like there is plenty of rooms to go for xcp in far east;)

3. I won't speculate on the price but can mention that on the Chinese exchange Bter XCP is currently trading for $47 in CNY. I've heard multiple warnings about Bter though, so please do your own due diligence. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/counterparty/#markets

XCP deposits to BTER are disabled at present (although withdrawals are perhaps working). I don't know how long that's been the case, or how long it's likely to stay like that.

1. Just updated the sweep tool - https://github.com/Jpja/Sweep-XCP-Paperwallet

It's more stable now but there's still one scenario it may not work. It collects UTXO's from Bitpay (and if it does not work; it tries Blockchain.info's API). If you are blocked from both these, a transaction cannot be created. This may be the case if you're on VPN or Tor.

The signing, btw, is inside the browser, so no keys ever leave your computer.

2. To reduce fees and confirmation times, new more efficient transaction encodings are being developed. A simple send with memo will be launched soon. It will cut tx cost. Another proposal, that I really like, is MCAT. It pools together transactions so that each one takes very little space. It will cut tx fees by a lot. https://github.com/deweller/cips/blob/cip-13-mcat/cip-0013.md
