i havent read everything concerning maidsafe but my impression is that after 8 years of engineering work, they will actually do a lot of the stuff that people want.
you know it is about secure, encrypted, distributed storage of data right? with some interface for an application layer to be built on top for web apps? i think the press has done a great job at creating paranoia about data theft that people might actually go for it.
i get the pleasure of reading a lot of crap and seeing lots of worthless clones get pumped on coinmarketcap every week... but this one doesn't seem to quack like a duck

Counterwallet v1.1.0 BETA has been released and is now live at counterwallet.co

* A restrictive content security policy (CSP) is in use, which GREATLY reduces the exposure and effectiveness of any cross site scripting (XSS) attacks. Inline script injection/eval is basically impossible now (unless it is a browser bug, or being done by an installed browser plugin). This required a code overhaul to support. * Tightened up XSS defenses numerous places
* Wallet passphrase generation algorithm improved (added entropy and removed fallback to the JS-based prng, which had issues)
* Numerous other security improvements
* Sweeping overhauled...should work much better now
* Many smaller bug fixes
* Switched back to the original server (cw01), which has been rebuilt from the OS-level up and secured

(basically, IE9 and 10 are not supported...the site has automatic browser detection and should tell you if your browser is incompatible)
Please note that the security profile is very different on this new version, so there may be some odd bugs we haven't worked out with things being blocked, but I don't see any at this point...and I'm running ABP and ghostery as well.
Try it out and let us know if you run into any issues.

Come on that's not a big amount. You must be having a lot of XCPs. 1.17 BTC is nothing.
The XCP I have is for a fund of investors, a very small amount of which is mine, and in addition to that, I've already invested 2 Bitcoin of my own money in buying a DSLR to film this. I hope this answers your concern.

Looks like BottleXCP has yet kept up with the current counterpartyd as there are some api changes recently. Better use counterpartyd directly for now, or counterwallet.

Maidsafe is a great project and doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I haven't read the technical details but Safecoin is supposed to work with a Proof of Resource function for their storage network - the Mastercoin ipo is just for "vouchers" that will be exchangeable for Safecoin's upon release. It gives them a little added publicity and the ability for MSC users to purchase Safecoin (As far as I am aware the Mastercoin DEX does not support Asset <-> Bitcoin transactions).
I'm generally skeptical about distributed and/or decentralized data storage mechanisms. People who have had experience with P2P networks like Freenet would be skeptical too.
Engineers have a joke along these lines:
Cheap, fast, reliable (pick any two)
If I put storage specific functional requirements: persistence, assesibility and responsiveness along with the above, it's a huge technical achievement if they were to (basically) create a Skype for data storage.
The graph (https://raw.github.com/maidsafe/Whitepapers/master/resources/resources_graph.png) displaying lines comparing the estimated value of a safecoin vs the cost of resources seems counter-intuitive to me. When the underlying resource becomes cheaper or more abundant, then the token to access said resource becomes more valuable?
