Regarding the lost/stolen funds from one of our users, we have not yet received any other suspicious reports

Although that may be true, other users have most certainly been effected by whatever caused my funds to leave my wallet.

These transactions caused BTC to move out of at least a few other XCP user's wallets; you can look the addresses up on blockscan.com:

If you recognize any of these addresses, please speak up; please help me figure out what happened.

Have the amounts been disclosed ? XCP and BTC ?

The BTC amounts are all visible in those transactions; the only BTC left in my new counterwallet looks like the bare minimum to store XCP related data for my assets. My XCP and other assets were not moved, and it appears as though the same is true for the other effected users. It stands out as strange that the effected addresses all have XCP, yet no XCP was moved. If malware did this, why did it target XCP users and not take XCP?

There is already over $10 worth of btc
https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,188.msg1961.html#msg1961

Edit.
Now i try with second wallet like that i first transfer only asset and then xcp and looks like working. Must waiting confirms to see it. If try transfer XCP before asset then coming this too small btc balance message. But now i dont see anymore my btc balance in import/sweep window when i try transfer that also.

Guys, a few updates:

I just made a change to old.counterwallet.co that should hopefully solve some issues. If you were having problems seeing your balances, please try using Chrome, clear your browser cache, then go visit old.counterwallet.co and log in with your passphrase you were using before the switch. If it only shows the first 3 addresses (or you don't see all of your addresses), just click on Add New Address, add as many as you had, and re-login. The balances should repopulate. If this is not the case, please email [email protected] directly with information, a screenshot, and the balances and addresses you were expecting to see in your wallet.

Ouziel and I will be dedicating tomorrow to working with folks to resolve any of these kinds of issues from this switch. We should be able to get everyone settled in by tomorrow or the next day. This switching to this updated version of bitcoinjs-lib was a rough ride, but due to the old version being off-spec, we should just have to do this once.

Also, the sweep on old.counterwallet.co has some issues transferring multiple assets at once. Try one at a time, or just manually send the asset (asset dropdown -> "Send") and manually transfer ownership (via clicking the asset dropdown and clicking "Transfer Ownership"). My goal is to fix the sweep dialog functionality tomorrow.

Regarding the lost/stolen funds from one of our users, we have not yet received any other suspicious reports (beyond a few non-suspicious "can't find my balances" reports from the switch itself that we'll work with the users to resolve as necessary). Our feeling with this is that it was an isolated incident, but we will be monitoring the situation closely over the next few days. We are also in communication with the bitcoinjs-lib developers regarding settling on the final 0.2.0 version of their library, for maximum stability. At that point, we will be sticking with that version until the next major point release of the library, which will be thoroughly tested before being rolled out. This is all pretty cutting edge stuff, but our goal is to continue to stabilize it rapidly.

Who else lost coins by switching to the new counterwallet and how ? Mine is fine as of today. I hear 2 users see 0 balances, danbarron lost btc.

The theft of danielpbarron's BTC is separate from the (predictable) confusion resulting from switching to the new address-generation algorithm, which requires the sweeping of funds from old.counterparty.co. If the former was due to a bug in BitcoinJS (unclear), then it was independent of the latter.

I did not sweep. I just did individual sends for BTC and XCP. (That will work, right?) I'm in the middle of my last BTC send now, and everything has gone smoothly.

Yep. Glad to hear it!

I did the switch. But I imported my private key into QT and used counterpartyd to do the send to my new wallet. So I'm not of any help probably, anyways needless to say it seems to have worked fine...

We're received a report of a loss (e.g. potential theft) of ~0.385 BTC from a Counterwallet user. No XCP or any other asset was removed, and the loss was from a "new wallet" (counterwallet.co) address that the user manually moved BTC to from their old (old.counterwallet.co) wallet. The funds went to: https://blockchain.info/address/1K31gDdh5n1GjXtbR8G2WpqnZawWEroQGD

At this point, we don't believe this is an issue with the wallet itself, but we are asking anyone with BTC in their wallet that have used the new wallet version (with the changed addresses) to log in and verify their funds are still intact. If this is NOT the case, and you have experienced an unexpected loss (of BTC especially), please (after doublechecking things) email [email protected] directly, with a report (include screenshots as well).

For now, we advise people to minimize their use of the new wallet system, but we are keeping the new system up to allow continued access to funds (and if it appears that this issue is affecting other users, we will change our stance here).

The difference from the "old" counterwallet to the "new" counterwallet was basically an update of bitcoinjs-lib (the javascript bitcoin library we use). We are in touch with the bitcoinjs-lib team about a potential issue here.

As a precautionary measure, to avoid the risk of issue in the future (even if this specific loss of funds incident does not involve counterwallet code), we are currently in the process of modifying the previous version of bitcoinjs-lib -- that we have used successfully from Counterwallet launch to yesterday -- to work with the new wallet addresses (i.e. correct HD Wallet addresses). Once this work is complete, we will resume using this previous version, and stick with it until there is a) a major point release of bitcoinjs that b) we can independently verify.

Once this issue has been fully resolved, we will be in a better position to assess the root causes, as well the impact. Thanks for your patience.

I am the user referred to here. Ask me anything.

What are you wearing?

Something worth mentioning to those concerned about MSC price .... As far as I can tell Mastercoin has not appreciated in value in terms of Bitcoin in the past week or so maybe longer.

In addition for a project like Mastercoin with so much invested, so much PR, so much presence on the Crypto-stage, the trade volume might as well be $0. Counterparty, although having more centralized exchange footprint, has 30% more 24 Hour volume, and has had much much more than that at times in the past weeks, despite a self sufficient development team, and virtually zero organized marketing effort.

halfcab: this is the argument I wanted to make but didn't manage to. Thanks.
