Should I make an easy install/instructional program/aide that allows user to have a walkthrough/semi-auto install process to guide them through the installation ? Maybe make it easier for some users until we get a lightweight GUI or web wallet ?

I like the enthusiasm, but I'm going to hold off on voting for getting XCP added to any exchanges. Until there's an easy to install GUI wallet and/or web wallet available then there's no point in advertising something that just isn't technically feasible for 90% of the users who lack linux or cli experience.

Give it another month - if XCP goes down in value between now and then, great - buy some more on the DEX.

Hey guys,

is there currently a more updated version of The Counterparty Protocol on GitHub available or is it all in the code, so to speak? Quite impressive to see what's going on here.

Hey dexX7 - glad to see you taking an interest. Indeed, the progress made by the CounterParty devs is impressive - next major step is a lightweight webwallet since it takes far too much tech knowledge for even your average bitcoiner to run the wallet today.

The protocol spec. is about to get updated. The code is the best reference for the moment, however.

We need to buy the developers some bubble gum for them to chew, because it seems they have been out for quite some time now.  Tongue

What's the general donation address for the project ?

@xnova what's to say that we couldn't fork the Android bitcoin wallet, https://github.com/schildbach/bitcoin-wallet?files=1
Since it obviously doesn't sync the block chain locally wouldn't that be good enough to act as a shell to allow Counterpartyd to run

common guys donate

did the same yesterday - send 50XCP to Jah for the wallet.

it is really simple for the burners to donate and extremely motivating for the developers. that is probably even more important than the amount you are sending

Donate !!!

I have voted for XCP.

I voted also, I agree that we need to be donating for th GUI project, but getting on BTC38.com would be great too, getting more people holding XCP as soon as possible. I am going to donate right now 0.5 Bitcoin to the GUI, can someone give me the address to donate to GUI ?

I want to make sure I'm donating to the lightweight wallet implementation, because that is what is going to bring the most newcomers. no blockchain syncs, online etc., like a counterparty, blockchain.info equivalent. Would that be XNOVA ?

JahPowerBit also intends to make a lightweight wallet, and indeed, the more wallets we have, the better.

We have a general donation address, your .5 BTC can be allocated specifically to xnova, if you would like: <19U6MmLLumsqxXSBMB5FgYXbezgXYC6Gpe>.

Not tooting my own horn, but I have been inspired to start donating regularly to get the light wallet going! 500 mBTC has been sent to you XNOVA, expect more soon! Come on guys rally around our devs and make it rain coins! It's an investment in our ROI and in the greatest meta project for this year!

Thank you very much halfcab! I will put this towards caffeine to finish the first version of the wallet.  Cheesy

Seriously though, wallet dev is coming along nicely. We are performing internal testing with the Counterparty core team members now and will soon be widening the circle. (It's pretty easy to get testnet BTC from a faucet, and I am adding testnet XCP burn support to it right now, so you can create your own testnet XCP to play with right from the GUI.) We are all very excited about this release!

Once the first release is out, beyond the community to test, we will be looking for interested webdevs to help us fix bugs, submit pull requests for enhancements that are listed in the tracker, and so forth. So if you are interested, or know anyone, get ready. Smiley

So there's no way to code Counterparty so real BTC can be held in escrow for trades?

Correct. Counterparty can only hold native assets in escrow.

XBTC allows users to bypass the added steps in BTC transactions.

I would also like to point out for those who are currently holding XCP and wish to sell, you do *not* need to buy any XBTC to sell your XCP on the DEX.

If you are happy to receive payment in XBTC you can already start pushing your preferred price to the DEX. Here is an example to sell 10 XCP at a price of 0.01 XBTC:

Code:
counterpartyd order --source SOURCEADDRESS --get-quantity 0.1 --get-asset XBTC --give-quantity 10 --give-asset XCP --expiry 1000

To 'redeem' your XBTC for BTC:

Code:
counterpartyd send --source SOURCEADDRESS --destination 13sGFVPgcrj9mMRokyXztdAJtg6kReofdV --quantity 0.1 --asset XBTC

You can sell your XCP and receive BTC without waiting for the other buyer to perform a btcpay. You can complete your transactions completely using the counterpartyd application.
