I have a for dummies explanation of setup in my signature, but yeah I'm all for making an animated explanation. Is there someone here with vast knowledge of the protocol that can please call me and speak with me so I can ask questions to start making my film ?

Please PM me or respond ASAP. Like BiggestFish, CityGlut, someone with experience at a very fundamental level with this project. I need to gather information on a 1-on-1 basis over the phone and then I'll be ready to get started making that video. I guarantee you, you will NOT be disappointed.

I have already showcased some of my work earlier in the thread.

In addition, I had a question. Would it be easy/possible for an exchange to list individual assets as seperate from XCP ? So if I make an asset, Poloniex could list it ?

Thanks for the write up! I'm waiting for something more user-friendly but if I find myself in a bind where I need to exchange XCP this will come in handy.

Someone else just showed me a similar error. Which branch are you using? Are you on the develop branch?

Looks like the error involves the communication with bitcoind

Phantom is working on the spec. right now,  and I have posted a wiki on assets (which includes information on issuing assets, trading on the DEX, paying dividends, etc.): https://wiki.counterparty.co/w/Assets.

The wiki on broadcasts and bets is undergoing another revision right now and will be up shortly. Between these two wikis, Counterparty's basic functionality ought to be covered.

The wikis have had to undergo several revisions in order to become more user-friendly, and any criticisms/suggestions are greatly appreciated, and, for the assets wiki, can be posted here: https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,142.0.html.

EDIT: Note that the section on trades involving BTC is quite short right now because we are currently considering whether and how to revise it. For those who are interested in the discussion, please see the thread on the official forums: https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,132.0.html.

The Wiki looks great. Do you need any help with any of the content?

You tell me. Smiley

I think that all the *content* that is needed is there, but in terms of presentation I am very interested in hearing what the community has to say.

Absolutely. My pleasure. I wrote up an example of a way to give examples in the wiki that make it easy for people to use the correct form in the examples.

Thanks, that's great to know. Once it's comprehensive enough, I'll get started on creating a guide "for dummies". I hope this will help get the community started on a bit more 'outsider interaction', because currently XCP is fragile in terms of PR.

Yeah, unfortunately this is way too complex for the average person at the moment. And I don't think WIKI and Github links are the best method for explanation for laymen, because of the marketing 'aspect' or 'flavor' that they add to the conveyed information.

Funny, to me I never thought of xcp as for the layman. We will still be trillionaires without my mother in law using it. Counterparty does need PR and
the devs have already hired someone and a good one in my opinion. Compared to my other love interest Nxt, I think counterparty is doing a superb
job. The devs aren't perfect but I sleep well at night with my XCPs all tucked in their crib next to my bed.

PS: Its not like I'm against joe schmo adoption. I just didn't think it was our market. You can't be all things to all people. But I'm not against mass
adoption if it happens. I can have two three 24k gold underwears then.

Meets exactly 0 of the criteria, but thanks for playing.

Just go bark with your 1000 clueless friends somewhere else then.
We will survive without your animated explanation video, it's gonna be really tough, but this is not Cartoon Network here, thanks.

That is great to hear. Matt (user "Matt Y") and I are actually beginning to work on a "Getting Started" guide. As you can imagine, though, until Counterwallet is live on mainnet, using Counterparty will still not be completely straightforward.

Matt is the one who will really be taking the lead on the guide. If you are interested, please PM me or him.

Meets exactly 0 of the criteria, but thanks for playing.

Remember, this is not a brand new concept, it's on top of bitcoin layer so no need to cover anything lower level than that, as far as an overview of what counterparty technology enables,  as well as usage examples & setup guides go some info can be found here.

Did Satoshi provided on day 1 a light wallet, a web wallet and 1000% profit for free? No. Not even after a year.

No, but he provided a whitepaper.
I don't see a XCP whitepaper anywhere. You are thinking in way too complicated terms. Not light wallet, web wallet, or anything like that. All people need is a simple explanation. People can act as smart and arrogant as they want, but it won't make the general majority learn anything.

And trust me I would take 1000 clueless noobs over basement dwellers who fancy themselves as the protagonist of Good Will Hunting throwing racial epiphets around.

Text is much easier to write than code, and yet the only real information is buried here on a forum called Bitcointalk. I've even offered to put up my own money to pay people to create an infographic or animated explanation video, if only someone could write a really simple explanation.

True... A real 2.0, since they managed to add LTC, which is something Karpeles couldn't achieve.
