All: Counterparty is a newly created, fully functioning, distributed exchange. We have just been listed on coinmarketcap.com and are currently the seventh largest cryptocurrency by market cap. In fact, we surpassed Mastercoin.

Counterparty is one of the most fairly distributed coins in the crypto community, being distributed according to a "proof of burn" schema, where bitcoins were sent to an unspendable address as proof of their destruction, and XCP were awarded in exchange. No developers were enriched by this project. (P.S. I myself am just a community member; I have no official standing and I do not represent the development team.)

Counterparty is a community created protocol, which allows anyone to make and use decentralized financial assets that utilize the bitcoin protocol as a transport layer in order to provide the following functionalities:

Sorry, I haven't done enough research yet...

Announcement: The develop branch of counterparty now specifies that 5 XCP is destroyed in all future asset issuances (after block 281235 281236). If we decide to make this official, the fixed amount will be temporary, and should be determined by a distributed, proof-of-stake voting system as soon as possible.
