After the fix, the price seems to be creeping up.

Maybe now that ETH, DASH, FCT, XMR, EXP ETC have all have their turns, XCP can enjoy a nice rise too.

Seems it's already occurring.... just went up by 32%

Short term upwards price movements are cool and all after a rafter of crashes.. not as nice as slow steady uptrend ofc. but more interesting metric is volume. For accurate price discovery this is a crucial element.
It's prime time to capitalize on Ethereum delerium and gain market share. as this project is superbly positioned with smart contract compatibility. It's just that's everyones forgotten.

Sidenote: A while back we were supposed to be listed on BTC38. The community voted and XCP is in first place still. However, It never ended up materializing. and CounterParty isn't present on that exchange till now.  I feel inclusion on that platform would be greatly beneficial to trade volume and allowing XCP into the hands of a more diverse base of users.

If you agree and care about this, I would encourage you to contact BTC38 at  [email protected] (email or skype) to request CounterParty's inclusion.

[9.3.2016 23:46:39] pdugan27: I'm a mildly ambivalent fan of the Chris de Rose/Junseth trollisms because they drop some bits that are quite smart, and one that struck me was that Ethereum may be attracked once the value is sufficiently tempting, now I'm not saying it will be, but we have yet to see a real test of a Proof-of-Stake system, and now that there's almost a billion in ETH, it makes such an attack very attractive
[9.3.2016 23:47:23] pdugan27: whereas if we can bond collateral for a Tau, Credits or Tendermint chain off of Bitcoin, and get the same speed, that may prove the more resilient architecture.

[9.3.2016 23:55:01] Judith Jakubovics: Please do not add them to this chatroom, they scammed up the XCP chat

[9.3.2016 23:56:27] Leon-Gerard Vandenberg @Fuzo: Never Judith - they are not welcome here from my PoV - waste of time but they provide a scavenging utility like any food predator prey ecosystem

[9.3.2016 23:57:01] Judith Jakubovics: @Leon - Agree

[9.3.2016 23:58:09] Leon-Gerard Vandenberg @Fuzo: I don’t believe the hype wrt R3CEV - and Chris DeRose is good at calling them out on it

Ethereum will crash. Not just the price, but the entire chain. It's simply not built to scale at all. Naturally the Ether community will come to XCP.

For Salerno, Symbiont was the right fit because it met all the needs Ipreo was looking for in a blockchain partner.

"Of all the different blockchain providers, it's a smaller subset that's interested in financial services, and a smaller subset, too, that really has done anything innovative around smart contracts. It's even smaller inside of that group the number of people who understand that we need to move a predominant amount of the business logic on chain to get real value," Salerno says. "I think the universe just dwindled down to Symbiont."
What's the source of this quote?

It's from a resource covering fintech news- "waters technology"  It's paywalled/subscription only.
Aside from few quotes and discussion of the timeframe the LTS product aims to go live (few months) most of the pertinent info can also be found directly from PR section of Ipreo site.

Well potentially it means nothing specifically for XCP, aside from trickle down exposure.

if Ipreo examined the available offerings, then specifically sought out Symbiont for partnership they must be doing something right.  And if big players trust Symbionts  enough, it should give some confidence to us lowly followers of the open-source branch counterparty.

[25.2.2016 18:40:54] Judith Jakubovics:  Omni's Distributed Meta Token Exchange is now Live and all Omnicore clients using version 0.0.10-rel should now have access Cheesy

[25.2.2016 18:41:17] Judith Jakubovics: This means that AMP of Synereo can be traded on the Omni DEX

[25.2.2016 23:47:50] Judith Jakubovics: This is the most tested and most stable DEX on crypto

Why we even use Counterparty DEX what is always down and under maintenance when there is Omni most tested and stable DEX?

Have anyone comments about differences between Omni dex and Counterparty dex?

Everything seems to be working smoothly now, thanks for the fix

Confirmed, working here too. Kudos on timely response and professionalism.

On a sidenote, I think it's important for to get some visibility in the main altcoin discussion section, rather than be confined to this subsection, which many do not visit. We don't really get much new exposure. Other altcoins such as Monero, Ethereum and MAID are very visible there with prominent community discussion threads, inviting opportunities for new members unacquainted with the tech to peruse and  promoting intelligent discourse.

Perhaps someone could start a Blockchain 2.0/Smart contracting thread examining and discussing the various platforms available for tokenizing and representing assets on chain, and then introduce the angle of smart securities.?

I would certainly contribute to explain all about how counterparty fits into the ecosystem, how it compares to other offerings, strengths & weaknesses and what exactly it brings to the table. I'm newbie member so I think it's better coming from someone established but will probably make it soon if no-one else does

Sat Mar 5 21:25:47 GMT 2016: A fix for the proximal cause of the bug is available for testing at: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/pull/839 (in branch https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/commits/max-fee-fraction). Please note that the both of these pull requests should be ultimately merged into the develop branch (and ultimately master), at which point it will be easier to evaluate the both rather than apply them one by one. Those who wish to wait until the both are ready can watch commits on develop (https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/commits/develop) and download and after these fixes are in. Until then the both fixes are more likely to undergo minor modifications.

The fix is live.

What does it mean when we say Initialize Balances? It may not be clear from the initial introduction above and it does sound like a new concept.

It's not a new concept. See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn. Certainly, it's similar to what Nxt and Mastercoin did (but better).

Right now no one owns any XCP, which we need a "fair, distributed and transparent" way of creating and distributing. Requiring people to publicly "destroy" BTC is a good way of doing that.
Destroying btc is cool, but gambling till death to wager more is better.

We have many times hear that Counterparty is excellent because if BTC fail it can move to another chain.

If we think scenario where BTC will fail (i don't think it will happen) and Ethereum will come most used and best blockchain. What is Counterparties option then? As I understand when Counterparty can make everything what Ethereum can make, but in other way there is nothing what Ethereum can't make what Counterparty can?
