No, it's not all about mining.  However, GPU miners WERE your community.  Not anymore!  You kicked us out the damn car while riding down the road and locked the door.  To hell with this project.

Agreed, I feel nothing less than betrayed.

To hell with this project.

i loved the zencash brand.. now, not so much. maybe because of their initial statement that they support asic resistance and not keeping it strait on that road.

Yes, they sold out to ASIC just as Zooko and ZCash sold out.  Monero has my support.  To hell with a team who doesn't give a damn about the community who helped promote them and get them to where they are today.

To hell with them.

Good riddance.
Horizen is not "Sold to ASIC" just some very tough decisions cannot be done fairly without voting, I think Rolf explained this very good:
 - Security of this project is priority
 - This project is not all about mining
 - There are a lot of things need to be done in coming period, we are sticking for the road map.

I respect your opinion and understand your anger, and I can only encourage you to stay with us and continue contributing to this project.

Many GPU miners will still stay in this project, holding nods and waiting for a new features.

Sticking to the road map while saying, "To hell with community."  Let the GPU miners support us with secure and super nodes.  Well, I call B.S.  I'm waiting to sell my ZEN and saying the hell with it from then on.

Horizen (ZEN) Statement On Mining Algorithm

The Horizen team carefully evaluated the pros and cons of changing from the existing Equihash Proof of Work mining algorithm. This was caused by two events that happened close together in time. One was the double spend attack that was made against an exchange partner, and the other was the appearance of Equihash ASIC miners for sale to the public.
https://blog.zencash.com/horizen-zen-statement-on-mining-algorithm/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=social&utm_content=mining&utm_campaign=mining+algo
At least, till now, it seems that ZenCash team (by now, it is Horizen team) have made smart decisions to change the algorithm.
Being ASIC-resistant is one of the most important things to maintain good ROI for miners and partially prevent terrible Replay Attacks, alongside with high required confirmations, Secure Nodes, Service nodes, etc.

You need to read the damn article.  They are NOT changing a DAMN THING!

GOOD RIDDANCE.  They've sold out.  Hello Monero and that's the coin I'm promoting from this day forward.

Many coins started with the objective of being ASIC resistant. This attracted at lot of GPU miners. Unfortunately, when these coins became big, they embraced ASICs and forgot the very mining community that helped them get there.

MedaR, not sure how nobody noticed but "sidechain" is misspelled in the new signatures.
I'm back from vacation, and place where I was placed - WIFI was awful (Testing was very annoying), so many errors are still there, and this is still under construction (I have notice few more mistakes  and stranage appearance in diffrent browsers). Thanks for involvement and help!
I gave you merit.  Wink

Good riddance.

You are a bit harsh at your comments but i have to TOTALLY agree with you. The team smooth talk about ZEN ASIC resistance has months and nothing was done to change the situation.

The coin is beeing mined and controlled for a few ASIC farms (they also control the price), and thousands of GPU miners stop mining and left the support to the project.
I think that Zen team should see that that ASIC mining is killing this project, no matter what they change to promote a new brand - Horizen, that is not even original - there was already a brand with this name: www.horizen.eu/

Also another thing that team should fix is the sub-pair wallet that can´t be encrypted. Every shitcoin that was created to pump and dump has a wallet that can be encrypted, but this project don´t. The excuse is always the same, problems with z-adresses.....

Red flags are being unveiled...

and Mr. Rolf Versluis you were a big GPU miner, are you an ASIC miner now?

Totally agree. We need more miners.

zencash is still relatively young, but becomes big project, I think changing of logo will benefit the project, it is worth it to drive more interest and awareness.

They didn't change the logo only, it' a total revamp of the brand (new name, new website, and so on...) So it makes sense to change the logo

By the way, how do you measure the success of this rebranding effort? What did you hope to accomplish, and what was accomplished thus far? Is this in any of the recent videos?

Well this extending of brand and changing of logo was strategic move to avoid future potential problems.

Also we are distancing our project form ZCash, we are not only cryptocurrencie, we are platform now Wink

New logo represents our values, qualities, and technology, it is attractive and versatile. ZenCash expanded their brand to reflect it’s direction with technology advancements and social innovations!

Here’s a bit more about our branding process: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JfjOPyGGZLVj7yIgrizpMcmOysE8pteJW3jS9N9SkSE/edit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcR7gOAkZHY&t=1s

I think that rebranding allows not only to expand the possibilities of the project, but also to strengthen the existing advantages. So, the new name Horizen better demonstrates the mission of the company, which should return to mankind its right to privacy. I believe that the Horizen team will have a chance to expand the scale of ZEN implementation around the world, to the horizon. A qualitative upgrade of the project allows to create a number of applications on the platform to ensure confidentiality.

Hi all, I have been so outdated with regards to Zencash/Horizen updates.

May I ask, has the Horizen hard fork affected the Zencash held in Arizen, Swing and Eleos wallets? Did holders have to do anything before/after the fork?

Also, has Horizen already forked away Asics or have already set a definitive date to fork off from Asics? I can't seem to find this info. Thank you very much.
