New price for AntMiner S1: 0.425 btc each one, shipping cost included.
Are there any plan to make the S2 be able to ROI, at the current price it hashes at $2.3 per GH/s vs the S1 at $1.3.
The S2 should cost a little more due to the case and the power supply, but at the current price it is almost double the price and does not ROI.
I think a fair price would be at around $1.5 per GH/s this way it is possible to ROI at current difficulty rate.
Using any calculator that considers the difficulty increase, and using a difficulty increase of 18% indicates the S2 does not ROI at current prices.
As of now the S1 is the only miner that can ROI, but the problem is that due to the extra energy it uses it will soon be obsolete and for the S2 to take its place the S2 must be able to ROI.
Cointerra $1.9 per GH/s better than S2 but not good enough, sp10 $2 per GH/s better than s2 but not good enough for ROI to occur but lower energy consumption.
Conclusion the S1 is the best value per GH/s but very soon the extra energy it uses will kill the ROI.
Noooo...You did not notice the awesome S2 group buy for $1.65/gh that ended last night?
The calc is incorrect anyway. At 0.425 BTC, S1 is ~$180, add power supply for $50-70 plus ethernet cable for $10=$240-260+$50 extra energy (at 0.12/kw/h) per 3 mo=effective 255-275 or $1.42$/gh, which is close to S2, but S2 will have an upgrade path and S1 is close to EOL.
EDIT: Check out how much work little ant produces in an average month (30.5 days for the purposes of calculation):
Hashes per month by S1 (at 180GH/s):
10^9X180x60X60x24X30.5=474336000X10^9 hashes or 474X10^15 hashes=474 petahashes
With 1hash=1300 32bit add operations (or 12697 FLOP equivalents),
antminer S1 produces the equivalent of ~6X10^21 or 6 zetta FLOP (or ~0.6X10^21 32bit adding operations) in a month using ~263.52 kw of energy.
A hard worker this ant is....
