Wondering if anyone has any data on this regarding X's on the ASIC boards.

If you get say 2 X's on an S3+ on every clock speed above 225... Is it better to run at 225 with no X's or 250 with 2?

Thanks,

you can under-clock it but please use caution.  Default setting is 218.75 for S3

I'm looking to undervolt my S3, is it possible to go lower than 218.75.  I was thinking closer to 150.  Do you know if that will be an issue?

Yes, the firmware for S3 and S3+ are compatible, however, for S3, after upgrading the firmware, PLEASE SELECT 218.75 Frequency from Miner Config Tab, Advanced Setting Page.

I tried looking, but there is just so many post to go through.

Is it possible to load this antMiner_S320140826.bin firmware pre s3+?

Its not very clear on the bitmain support page.

Now that the Bitcoin price is recovering, you think Bitmain will give us free shipping on the Batch 10 S3s?

Bitmain - hint hint nudge nudge!!
Not sure it was ever "free" just added into the price. You want it added back in again, I get it... I guess.

It appears that PSU is a crock of turd  Angry

Plugged in my other PSU - A Viper Powercool 500W +80 Bronze for reference - And it is working perfectly.....

Odd I thought

So I attempted to fire up the S1 using the Aerocool PSU....Booted up OK but as soon as it tried to hash, the PSU cut out

So I have now ordered another Viper PSU - stick with what you know works  Wink

Did you try individual connectors?  Might wanna do that before spending more money on a PSU that you might not need

I am also curious what a few things on the status page means? Such as:Diff. DiffA#, DiffR#, DiffS#, LSDiff, LSTime?

I am curious as well.
I think LSDiff might be your worker difficulty, not sure though, i am bit new to this.

Good Morning Guys - I did start a thread but was advised to post it in here Tongue

I wish my first post wasn't a "problem" post but like so many, I found your site looking for some rhyme or reason as to the behaviour of my nice new Antminer S3+ (batch 9)

Set it up last night and all was good - hashing away at about 430-450 Gh/s as expected. Came to look at it this morning and is seems to be cuttin out all together, suddenly coming back to life as the right speed then 10 minutes later dropping off to zero before restarting again. This is after about 12 hours continuous running if that helps?

Now, I also have an Antminer S1 running and another S3 running elsewhere, both of which are behaving as they should which rules out the mining pool. I know the configuration within the unit must be right or it wouldn't be mining at all which again, rules that out.

I have this set up with an Aerocool Intergrator 600W +80W PSU (http://www.yoyotech.co.uk//600w-aerocool-integrator-psu-12cm-black-fan-active-pfc-tw-caps-acp-i600hg?var=17061&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=purenet_feed&gclid=CjwKEAjwk_OhBRD06abu3qSoxlwSJACt7sZ7tSqC2-7sGpNzjoxnE81zZt-dVNcJPLOx-qGd8E5SPRoCLN3w_wcB) using the daisy chained connector. Could this be causing an abnormal load on the PSU? Would it work better if the individual plugs were used?

I am also hardwired into an Ethernet Hub so no wireless connection issues.

I have purposefully positioned it so it has a clear air path all around (I work in building services so understand that in order to maximise cooling, there needs to be open air around all sides, similar to a water to air heat exhanger).

Can anyone shed any light on this as I need to get this running properly obviously?

Thanks

I had similar issues when i used a daisy chain connector on my PSU and had to use individual connectors, however it was my power supply that was cutting off and on when i did that and not my antminer.  Worth a shot though I guess.

Watching how this machine is behaving, it does scream thermal cut off. It closes down while it cools down, comes back online at full speed, slows down again then cuts off.....

I'll have a look at this one tonight but an incorrectly installed fan (both push) would create a negative pressure which would have exactly the opposite effect to cooling.

gotta let a coin be a coin
I'll give that a go when I get back.....I know one of the fans is certainly pushing (the opposite end to the Ethernet port)

If I find them both pushing, rather than the other one pulling air into the unit, is it as simple as reversing the connector?

Not sure if you can do that or if you need to flip the fan? I have 1 miner from batch 2 and batch 3 and two miners from batch 5 all with no problems so I am just guessing at your problem but you may hear from someone else here that had the same problem as you.

Just disconnect one fan, unscrew it and flip it around. It looks like they put the fan on the wrong way. The fans have arrows on them that show the airflow.

my S3+ only works at 225mhz produce 252ghash and 231mhz produce 266ghash

at 250/237mhz the ant only produce 390ghash

my psu is an EVGA 1000w to 2xantminer s3

Check the running temp of the miner and on the miners status page you can also check off on the config page the shut off mode for high temp and see if that helps as long as your sure it's not over heating. Make sure both fans are running and that one is pushing and the other pulling air.

For grins I priced out a pair of B10 S3+'s shipped to California. The price is 1.492 BTC.

Wow. I guess I got a deal for 1.45 delivered for batch 3, minus the 0.11165 BTC refund for under performance.

So effectively I paid 1.33835 BTC for two S3's over 3 months ago.

I've been mining the B3 S3's for 76 days and am less than 2 days from ROI.

I guess those were the days...

Just looked at the ordering 10x S3-B10, and noted no more DHL shipping choice to US (only UPS), and shipping cost of 1.1 BTC...!
...cancelled..! No Thx. I see the same type costs building on the S4 side.. Sad
