Hello, good day.

I bought 17 S3 miners some months ago. I'm a happy customer so far.

One of my miners suddenly stopped working. I pressed the reset button, but nothing happened. Both red and green LEDs are blinking; I can access the miner's web interface and this is what it shows on the "Miner Status" page:

I flashed all my miners with the latest firmware months ago, and all of them were working well so far until now.

Can anyone give me some directions on how to fix this miner?

Cheers,

Try a hard reboot
Try ribbons on controller
Faulty controller?

help needed.

one hashing board has stopped working, sorted RMA out with Bitmain, but they failed to tell me there was a time limit on the UPS ticket.

Now they are just plain ignoring all correspondence.

So wanted to know if anyone has managed to repair / find out what causes a hashing board to not be recognised.

any help appreciated

how i can check with pytty

what version of cgminer i have?>Huh

 /usr/bin/cgminer-api

Quite a bit of output from this, so you'll have to scroll back up the screen, but it's in there.

or u can do the below and see the version easier.
cgminer-api | grep cgminer

fyi no /usr/bin is needed since cgminer is in the executable path
root@antMiner:~# echo $PATH
/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/sbin

Yes, that's quite a lot better - thanks m8. Smiley

Wow nice - Bitmain has a "Pay with USD" option now upon checkout

It will be more tempting to buy the miners when see price in USD due to lower BTC value.
Just a physiological impact, reality still persists.

gotta let a coin be a coin
Since when is posting coupon availability a deletable offense? My post on Sunday to this thread got deleted when there are tons of other posts offering coupons that did not get deleted.

Arbitrary nonsense from an anonymous moderator. Let's see how long this post lasts...

moderator = ck, if you start a thread called S3 coupons and put it in Marketplace > Goods it'll stick. That's where the S1 coupon thread landed.

I added a thread here for it: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/antminer-s3-coupons-829979

I have some I want to give away.

Just nice that we have alternate purchasing methods.  It will be Utopia if Bitmain will again include shipping and keep the prices low enough so we can ROI.  Of course it's a longshot.

Anger is a gift.

What will it change? Better ROI? Less prices? ))

It really doesn't change anything with those shipping prices added in.

I use non-standard power supplies but since I ran into a high voltage problem I won't recommend these.  I use the same on a Mercury.  When the cooler weather arrived and we started shutting down the air conditioning in the early evening the wall voltage went from 120-122VAC sometimes up to 126VAC.  The cheap power supplies would see a rise on the 12vdc output.  When it reached 13vdc the S3 shutdown hashing.  The miner status page had blanks for all elements.

I run cgminer-avg-monitor on my S3's.  When hashing stopped and later cgminer-avg-monitor would run, it would report "$avg" as a bad number and exit the script without running any corrective action.  A quick search of linux scripts and bad number found a suggestion to change the "$avg" entry to "0$avg".  The avg now reported shows up as for instance 0441.  Hopefully if the problem happens again the hashrate will appear as 0 rather than a blank preventing the script from terminating.

Thanks for the new cgminer, am giving it a try.

So far so good - I noticed mdudes antmonitor no longer reports the diff value, did something change?
Lowmem stops showing the diff, so perhaps that's why.
Is it just me or did the LSTime stop reporting?
Also affected by use of lowmem, but it shouldn't be (i.e. that's a bug). It is optional to use lowmem, you can disable it. I was just recommending it generically since S* controllers are very low powered.

Thanks!  Just applied this to a bunch of S3's, and they all seem to be hashing at a similar rate as the previous 4.6.1.

Cheers

I've tried to wade through this thread, but I guess it's just easier to ask.  Huh

I've just got an S3 (used), so what's the story with firmware?  Does ck's latest cgminer work better than the standard firmware on the S3?  I've not had time to try the miner at all, so I just want to get going ASAP with minimal fuss.

I'm probably mining on p2pool (my own node).

I think it depends on which batch it's from? My batch 2 is not as good as my batch 5 miners but I have not changed any firmware on any of them. I did bump up the freq on the batch 5 miners to 225 and get 450+GH out of them.
