Cost more? Maybe

Cool less?? Maybe not!! With 200+W/mK I think they do pretty good ;-)

Which thermal pad are you referring to and buying what quantity?

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17467/thr-178/Fujipoly_ModRight_Ultra_Extreme_System_Builder_Thermal_Pad_Blister_Pack_-_12_Sheet_-_200_x_150_x_05_-_Thermal_Conductivity_170_WmK.html

200 x 150 x 0.5 mm in size $119.99 in price. This is for 17.0 w/mK

I am really interested in what 200+ w/mK thermal pad you are referring to Tongue

Grin too bad they don't accept bitcoin..but this u can make at home! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzcBIWwrsUA

Back on topic...Im wondering for the machines that are running 450+GH/s what power supply is being used...and for others having shit results like myself what power supply...in my case I have tested corsair HX1050 and the piece of crap PSU that came out of S2 and both same results...tested with 1 miner and 2 on each PSU, 2 and 4 connectors...btw 4 PCI-E connectors has been bad in my experience..I am pretty sure they are on there only for some type of electrical approval for design spec...kind of like the QC Passed stickers on the S2 Shocked

Frozencpu DOES accept bitcoin lol  Grin
Huge button on top right of the page as you load  "bitcoin accepted here"

I believe the logic behind 4 pci-e connectors on the S3 was for the pci-e wires not to melt when overclocking. Since the wires on a 6pin pci-e can only handle so many watts , the extra 2 connectors would distribute the power so they don't melt Sad

I was as serious about spending 120$ for a sheet of grease as I was making that toothbrush lol  but good to see more places accepting bitcoin!
To me these machines seem more and more like S1 than anything especially the way they clock...I don't have any more S1 but do they use the same dc/dc converter? The power draw seems to be about the same and I never had any of those cables melt and have seen my share of melted hardware and wiring  Shocked 200w per PCI-E didn't melt them...I don't have any good units yet to swap controller boards with but hope out of the 4 I get tomorrow that at least they run 440 like they were advertised when I bought them...oh wait they were 478 then....and 415 now  Roll Eyes

one question, in the USA you pay taxes for customs when you order S3 units??.

No, there is no import/customs tax here for computer related products.

@WheresWaldo

Try the document on this site: http://www.heatmanagement.com/local/media/pdfs/Kunze_ProductCatalogue-2014.pdf

Should be on page +/- 80

Have no idea how much they are. Would have to check with the company though. Or maybe order a sample ... ;-)

Don't rush into conclusions immediately after reboot. It takes a while for hash rate to 'ramp up' after reboot.  Making a judgment after less than say an hour is quite premature (at stock).  At the lower frequency settings (212.5) it can take about 4 hours before the average hash rate stabilizes.  Then you need to check after about 24 hours, as it tends to get lower again (thermal issues?).

Cheers

Cheers

Perhaps I should be more concise in some of my posts...in this case it was not immediately after a reboot.. what I should have said was...before I powered this unit down to move it to a different shelf it was only going down to 415 after 9 hours which is still more than the 5% variance quoted by BITMAIN..and I thought 415 was bad now I see 400 and an x after basically just powering the unit down Huh

I check at several intervals after boot...first at 2 then 5 15 30 60 120 etc especially with new hardware and wildly fluctuating results when monitoring room temp and chips with IR temp gun etc...as noted by myself and others the hashrate drop has nothing to do with temps of anything on the unit when units that have no components higher than 31c are showing the same symptoms...
The crap firmware Im sure has a big play in this matter I just think queue of 4096, time errors of machine thinking its been up for hours and 1.5 min at the same time which can show avg of 2.3GH/s over 9 hours when its been less than 2 minutes...is cgminer process or the other miner status time conflicting when cgminer restarts?? Something is going apeshit with these miners behind the scenes...first we had mystery beeping...now not a beep at all....the silence is eerie Lips sealed

Does BITMAIN support escrow service for payments with 2x2 multisig bitcoin transaction?

For example, we create 2x2 sig bitcoin address, I transfer bitcoins to it.
So I can't use this bitcoins without BITMAIN sig.

After S3 shipment to me I release money to BITMAIN.

The best thermal pads are not as good as the worst grease....I can see why they said not to use pads as the heatsinks were machined with a certain tolerance to be in direct contact with the ASICs (I will find out how much now when I take 1 machine apart again) pads are garbage just use a good grease and you can be messy applying it like Bitmain a la birthday cake icing style but its better not to get it where its not needed...the inside should pretty much cover the metal part with grease for optimal heat transfer ...I am about to take off the sinks from 1 of the machines and reverse the blades to see if it makes a difference..this machine went from 420ish to 400 now after a reboot  Angry

Hey BitMain...

The price of BTC is BACK to $585+...OK...  Grin

Could you adjust your S3's price back to 0.65-.66 BTC ...or lower... Huh

ZiG

you are correct they should drop price.   but the sp30 double miss on gh and on power makes the s-3  the best item to buy.

I would feel happy if it drops to .66 or .65 , but they may raise it more.

With diff doing 2  under 10 % jumps maybe 3 under 10%   they could move price to .69 and I think it will sell.

I am looking to buy 2 more I want to see it drop to .64  I will not buy until my 2 come on fri and test well.

Considering that the SP30 is almost in-line with the current S3 prices, I can only imagine how much more cost effective the S3 product lineup will be in a month from now.
