Are people happy with their S3 units on p2pool?

If you're on p2pool, are you using the stock queue option (4096) or did you change it?

I'm very happy with the performance of my S3s on p2pool so far, my second batch is arriving today and will pointed at p2pool without a doubt.

Its just a better pool Smiley

I have been testing the queue set to 1 on a single machine, after 21 hours the results are as follows:

queue=1 error rate:       0.00086971453%
queue=4096 error rate:  0.00180255332 %

It is worth noting that both of these are impressively low, I'll keep testing with a couple more machines, but I'm 99% confident queue =1 is the way to go.

Thanks for getting back to me. That's helpful.

I'm interested in trying your p2pool. I'm seeing ping times of about 75 ms, which your site says is "Looking good". But it feels a bit on the high side to me.

I'm in California. Do you have plans to provide a US west coast node?

Current BTCGuild stats...:

AntMiner   777,601.32 GH/s...

EDIT ~ 20 BTC per day = $12,000 per day... / $400 current price = 30 S3 miners already PAID for...
FREE For THEM = BitMain...OK in 5 days  = 150 FREE S3's to SELL to US...THAT"S THE TRUTH...Grin

Or about 1,600 S3's farm mining... Wink

Hello, BitMain...LOWER S3 price...it is about time...$600 per BTC...

ZiG

EDIT #2 ...:

Manufacturers Don't mine...RIGHT...Tell this to my OLD HAT... Grin

EDIT #3...:

They MINE like CREASY...and after that sell to US...at inflated price...CAPISCO... Huh

Expecting answers from those who replied thermal paste on front side of S3.
How much qty was required for both blades?Which paste is used, a link will be helpful.
On a side note, I tried setting cgminer queue to 16 and my s3 slowly decreased hash rate to 428.
Changed it back to 4096 and now hashing at 438Ghs

Pretty much everyone who tried did not get any benefit (almost). One miner that I wanted to "fix" reports exactly the same numbers.
Besides whatever paste (I am NOT going there), you'll need a cleaning liquid or 99%+ isopropanol that is not available at Walgreens (you'll have to order it online).
I know that it goes against the belief that you can always improve tech by tinkering, but S3 so far resisted everything I tried (cooling with extra fans, running it "naked" with or without extra fans, cleaning sloppily applied paste, trying to move to higher mhz, lower or higher ambient temperature).

Doing it as per bitmaintech engineer advice to fix a lower than stock hash speed miner.
Hope the guys who tried it can put some light on the post, just qty and brand/link.

Guys 10,000 RPM is impossible.  I have high RPM PC fans that size and I think they run at 2000 RPM. Not even sure I believe 4000RPM fan speed.  That's what the small GPU fans on a 290x run at, 4000RPM and they are very loud.

Take the blue (PWM) wire from the fan connector if you are curious and see what you get. You will not get 10K but you will get just below 4K.

Hello.

The server HP DL 580 G5 use 4 fan delta of 5000rpm of 120mm and DL 360 G6 use fan Delta of 10000rpm of 40mm. The Noise without top is horrible.

Hello Guys.

The S3 only need plug 2 PCIe without OC (218Mhz). One for side Righ and one for left side. But, if you would like do some OC in the chips, for example 225Mhz or 237Mhz, if is necessary connect the 4 cables of PCIe?.

I good like use the Power supply Corsair RM1000 for 2 units of S3 Bath 4.

And yes, I was read that any people have problems and they do undercooking to 212Mhz. Any pleople connect the 4 Cables with OC or without OC, please?

Thank you in advanced.

Regards.

has anyone had issues updating firmware?

after I select the firmware file, it says uploading at the bottom of the browser but only gets to 5% then the unit is not responding and restarts (running old firmware). The beeps are annoying so would like to get this fixed but scared of trying to update again as I dont want to brick my unit.

did you fully download the file to your PC/mac first? Probably just reload the browser or restart the computer after you downloaded the file.

Hey everyone,
I'm tearing apart the LUCI interface and am trying to figure out how to call the 'Save&Apply' button though the CLI.  I want to edit the crontab. Really wish it were just a php controller or something....

Edited contab to run the following every hour. Im expecting an increase in hashrate.

killall -s 9 cgminer

/etc/init.d/cgminer restart

With all the new machines I'm wondering what pools everybody is using.

I was on CEX but now am on Slush with mixed results.

How about you ?

I don't believe they sound like 10k rpm fans to me. I've heard a 10k delta fan up close and these don't sound like that.

They sound like a little puppy whimpering compared to that delta fan.
