Brainwashed this way
Hey Duce, could we get an update on your firmware adjustments?

When ordering stuff from China, always try to use DHL is possible. DHL seems to always get their stuff through customs with no issues...unlike UPS..

This may be true for where your shipment enters the US.  While I haven't had any major issues with DHL recently, I've had a few shipments held up due to minor paperwork issues.  FedEX, on the other hand, is almost always a problem.  I get the package, but it comes with a extra invoice for handling customs inspections, which doesn't happen with UPS or DHL.

Anyway, it all depends.

gotta let a coin be a coin
I was able to get the discarded amount lowered as well as the load. I changed the queue to 0 from 4096 and added --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 to the cgminer file.
***IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT THIS MEANS DO NOT TRY AS YOU WILL BRICK YOUR UNIT***

Thanks for this post ! Going to try this on one of my units and see how it works out.
This was default on the new firmware:

PARAMS="$AOPTIONS $POOL1 $POOL2 $POOL3 $_pb $_ow $_bec --api-listen --api-network --bitmain-checkn2diff --bitmain-hwerror --queue 4096"

I tried it on one by adding the --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 flags, but didn't see any difference in discards or load. Maybe some of you will have better luck.

Did you change the Queue to 0?
that I did not do - misread what you wrote. YES!! Just changed it and am seeing really good numbers. Discards are negligible now - 20 accepts and 3 discards. Load dropped from high 2s to under 2. AWESOME!!!!! You rock!

Have bought from Bitmain before and never seen a UPS message like this.
Am in the US, BTW.
The packages have left Anchorage probably headed for Louisville.

"07/25/2014   9:16 P.M.   A valid tax ID or deferment number is missing and is required for clearance. We are working to obtain this information. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release."

WTF Over?

Anybody got a clue whose tax ID they want.
And what the heck is a "deferment number"?

Thanks in advance,

Here is a comparison on projected returns with network difficulty increasing 10% vs 20% after power costs assuming BTC US value remains at $600 per BTC.

Awesome chart, thank you for sharing. More colors than my sheet, but same conclusions. Smiley

Thanks in advance,
How many units did you order?  This message means that you have to supply importer paperwork - which is nothing more than filling out a PDF that UPS will provide you - and emailing it back to them.  I had this happen when my SP10 was shipped to me.  I called Fedex about it, and the girl I spoke with said it was because the value was over $2500.

So, just call UPS, fill out the paperwork and your miners will be released and sent to you.

This is the first attempt, not sure if 0 is the optimal queue value for all pools but if you are a P2P miner you may want to try this out. I use a smaller pool and my numbers have gone up. This is along the same tune you could do for an S1 but a far cry from what we did in the GPU days. I have another unit running at a lower speed but have the same results.

SSH in then:
Code:
vim /etc/init.d/cgminer
--scan-time 1 --expiry 1

Find line 75 PARAMS...at the end change --queue 0 and add --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 before the quotation.

***DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND AS YOU WILL BRICK YOUR UNIT****

Before Config Change (I added a line so it is easy to see, I took it out when I finished)

After Config Change

Ant Before

Ant After CHECK THE LOAD VALUES

I appreciate you posting this  Grin I too have no idea why they set such a high queue on the units

looks like the load was lowered, but it is hashing slower with less accepted shares

Poolside

The hash went up poolside. Strange the way the pools are exaggerating the rates, such as BTC G is doing as well. I will work with the Queue values to get a reading on how it effects both GUI and poolside values. BTW philipma1957 I am sure you recognize the pool used here.

That is quite a significant difference between what the miner says and what the pool says.

You know how if it is returning allot of work during a period the pool will normally reflect a higher rate, right now it is 497 poolside and GUI 466. Need to find the sweet spot for all of the settings.

yeah i get 3-5% higher numbers on btcguild then the gui tells me I am getting.

Ahh the good doc h's pool
A little OT, but you guys have seen the news on BTCGuild, right? They may shut down thanks to NY's regulations. Read up on their site in the News and FAQ. Also, eleuthria is keeping this updated as his lawyer advises him: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8015578

I have been using  --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 on my S1's for P2Pool and just added --queue 0. Poolside S1 HR on my P2Pool is WAY higher with --queue. DOA seems about the same so far. I'll have to let it run for a while. Interesting stuff to watch while I wait for my batch 4 S3 units.
